With all the cultists they have fought so far being medium-sized, Tobin doesn’t even try the armor. Instead, he just takes likely-looking pieces of the clothing and adapts it for his form as best he can.
The rest of his time, Tobin spends using his cantrips to remove evidence of the battle before he moves over to rest and eat, trying to look like a cultist.

Gerrard Feldren - Human Noble in Ghosts of Saltmarsh
Kerric Brightblade - Elven Warrior in "Apocalypse"
You are in the Tower of Xonthal, trying to find Iskander (a cultist leader who says he wants to defect), and the Blue Dragon Mask he has.
Bazavur received a telepathic message about using or finding an hourglass to get where you need to go.
You are able to move through the tower using teleportation circles on each floor. Destinations are tied to eight symbols, one of which is an hourglass - but that one doesn't seem to work.
The tower is infested by dragon cultists; you have fought one in a room and tried to rest, only for cultists to teleport in and discover you. You followed and defeated them.
Some of you have been quite badly wounded; you are considering whether, and where, it may be safe to rest undisturbed.
You are in the process of disguising yourselves as cultists.
Bazavur is willing to take a short rest. If that’s what the group decides. He’ll also give a rousing speech for anyone spending hit die to recover hp. (Song of rest +1d6)
Jolly good. You settle down once again to attempt to rest in the tower.
Let's say you have a 50-50 chance of resting successfully. I will roll a die on the game log: 11 to 20, you complete your rest, 1-10 you are interrupted by cultists.
You see cultists dressed much like the others you have fought, one in a robe, two wearing leather armour.
Round One: Aiwin Robed Cultist Varan and Soar Tobin and Bazavur Armoured Cultists 1 and 2
(I am assuming at this point that some of you are wearing your cultist disguises, and others are not. If you want to attempt a deception rather than a fight, you can... but we'll do it in initiative order anyway.)
Aiwin just holds onto his bow as he looks at the newest arrivals. Understanding that some of his party is wearing clothes of cultists, to include himself, he keeps quiet waiting to see how this unfolds.
OOC:
hold action: Attack on cultist w/ red circle around him, trigger is if his allies choose combat over deception
"What... what in the hells?" The robed cultist seems also to ready a spell, perhaps an offensive one, but does not cast it yet. He is standing closest to the buttons, but any of the cultists could reach them and teleport away easily enough.
Varan sighs, "Oh, thank goodness. Someone who will talk first. There has been a big misunderstandin' here." He gestures to his companions, "We are new members that were sent here for trainin' and to provide extra support. Once we arrived, we waited outside for someone to show up, but then someone hit the ground next to us dead. So, we rushed inside thinkin' there were intruders and were immediately attacked. We had to defend ourselves, of course, seein' as we'd like to stay alive and the possible intruders could have been in disguise."

Be excellent to each other, and roll for initiative dudes!
Apologies for the long delay, but I'm back now. DM, if you'll allow, Soar would -- as she is often wont to do -- have used Mask of Many Faces to disguise herself into the resemblance of a cultist she had known. Given that there are dead cultists around them, and they are partially in and out of disguise, imitating one of the dead ones seems a bad idea. So she'd go to one of the ones that she'd known that could reasonably be expected to be there. Neronvain? If that's super unreasonable then she impersonates one of the robed figures from the first level who seemed in charge.
"We've got traitors," she says, in a rough imitation of the last one she heard barking orders, "AND THERE'S THE LAST ONE!" She points at the one beginning to cast a spell, and then with a brief glance at the other two, she orders them, "kill him and your lives will be spared."
Feel free to ignore these rolls, but I'm trying to supply what you might ask for:
Deception: 23 Persuasion: 9 (natural 1)
Nevertheless she fires an eldritch blast at the cultist who was beginning to cast something offensive.
Chaos ensues. Both armoured cultists look in confusion at Varan and Soar, and then at their robed fellow. Soar fires off her Eldritch Blast, one of which misses, the other hits. Not enough to stop the robes cultist from firing off their own spell, of course.
Everyone except Varan, give me a DEX save, DC 14, as a fireball explodes around you. You take 31 fire damage on a failed save, 15 on a success.
Tobin:

Summary of where we are:
Let's continue...
Tobin is going to take a short rest here, is that correct?
Is the rest of the group doing the same?
Varan would not disagree with taking a short rest. Does anyone object to disguising as cultists?

I used Aiwin's History check, as that has a +0 modifier.
And the result was a natural 1. Welcome back!
Three cultists teleport in, mid-conversation, and their eyes go wide as they see you. You have not completed your short rest.
Please roll initiative.
Tobin:
Resting, disguised in cultist robes, Tobin looks up when the cultists arrive (Initiative 8).

Aiwin was preparing to sit down as the cultists appeared and he just lets out another sigh.

Tobin:
Barely alive, Tobin shoots back with his own fireball at the three cultists, then he goes and hides behind a tall shelf.
