What kind of campaign? It's a module - Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
Why this module? I have wanted to run a module campaign for a while, and decided to run one that isn't oft seen in the play-by-post forum. I have chosen, then, to do one that piqued my interest when it was announced- Ghosts of Saltmarsh.
What is this about? Very simple. A series of adventures that we'll play through (each as stand-alone adventures) that will have us adventuring in the region and killing monsters, gaining renown. It'll be a blast.
How many players are you seeking? Six at most. Four at minimum.
What do I need to do to join? It's pretty simple. All you have to do is PM me your backstory, class, race, and character sheet. I'm one of the DMs who is ok with homebrew if you can send me a link to it to review before I accept it. I'll give you a couple of simple instructions after that, and we're good to go. The stat method is roll (4d6, drop the lowest - reroll 1s).
When do we start? Two weeks from now - August 4 (or earlier if everyone's ready)
Are there any other rules that I need to know about? Please remember that we're playing heroes. I won't accept evil-aligned characters. Please also keep language at PG-13.
Ok, I have enough pending characters to close the thread to applications. Thank you all for your interest and if you would like, those of you who have already expressed interest, I can put you on a waiting list if one of the characters drops out.

At every session, I say, "Everyone's here, except Waluigi."
We begin our tale with the arrival of six travelers to Saltmarsh, a coastal town nestled between Waterdeep and Neverwinter. Six travelers, each arriving at about the same time to the gates of the town. The guards, a pair of old men, one seated and the other standing. Their armor looks a bit rusty and they seem to be a crumbling reminder of what once was, like the aging ruins around them. The one seated reaches for his spear and pulls himself to his feet, using it as a crutch.
The first guard strokes his long white beard and looks at you all very carefully. "Traditionalists ain't a big fan of new folk," he says, giving Ulfgar a one-over. "I'm too old to care about who comes in the town, unless you're bringing trouble. Then I'm more concerned."
The other man, slightly younger and with a tooth or two missing, straightens his posture. A long scar trails down his right face, right through his eye. "We'll need your name for our records," he adds, taking out a pen and a book. "And your business here in Saltmarsh if you will."
General Instructions
1. Roll me a d6. If yours matches someone else's, then the two of you are acquainted and can tell me how you met. 2. Interact with the guards/each other. 3. Have fun! You can't ever have too much of that here.

The dwarf looks glaringly back at the old man giving him a once over.Perhaps he speaks of the dwarf. He steps forward with his shield and longsword on his back and warhammer on his side. At 4'5, he's all of that compact into a neat little soldier of Moradin. I am Ulfgar Trueblood. He looks at the two guards and the others who have arrived here at this same exact moment. He steps closer to the guard who was eying him. You've probably never seen a real beard before. What is that stubble you have on your face? Ulfgar chuckles as he grabs a cloth from his pockets and wipes a bit of sweat from his bald head.
I have come here to spread the good word of Moradin. To show his grace and mercy on all the lands. He looks to the younger guard now. By the looks of it, you could use the grace of Moradin.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Garrin looks around as he approaches the gates. This place had the familiar feel that many towns had. Routine helped people believe they were safe.

He led his Mule toward the gate, walking with Ulfgar. He had met the Dwarf a few nights earlier and found his company and conversations interesting, though at 6’3” he towered over his new companion. Most of his gear was stored away neatly on the mule except for the rapier on his belt and the longbow which was on top of the gear and close to hand.
He waited for Ulfgar to finish then said: Simple. I am here seeking work. Don’t expect me to stay long, maybe a night or two. You can note me down as Garrin Drake
The guardchuckles at Emelia's comment. "Yer bad humor will be a nice change from all those 'Almost got 'im' stories about that catch of a lifetime. As for sights, there's not much 'round here in terms of tourist attractions. I'd advise not goin' to Crabber's Cove at all - too many folk have gone there and vanished without so much as a scream. Me old partner was one such victim." He looks away wistfully for a moment. "As for sights, there's some old abandoned forts and castles a few days trek away, but goblins tend to be involved so it's a bit messy. The Standing Stones are a fine sight to see or hear if you're interested."
"Honestly I was referring to the dwarf. Silver mines are openin' up and the Traditionalists are a bit uptight about it. Not too much trouble, but a little more than a guard of my age can handle. Just a few reports of threats and some folk getting roughed up," he adds, turning to Aiden and Ulfgar."So yer both missionaries then? Aye, good luck changing the mind of these folk. We've got a Temple to Procan and that's about it. I'm not really one of the religious folk, but it would seem to me that there should be less division in town."
"There's plenty of work in town. Ye might find some by working for Jilar Kanklestein at the Carpenters' Guildhall, the Hoolwatch Tower, or speaking to Manistrad Copperlocks - she's often found at the Wicker Goat. If I were ye, I'd stay at the Wicker Goat - the ale's better, the food isn't showered in salt and ye aren't likely to hear Traditionalist talk." He flashes a slight smile at Garrin.
The second guard finishes writing down the names of the visitors and says,"We charge two silver for information. Welcome to Saltmarsh!" He sticks out his hands, expecting some payment. "Or a fine ale suffices too."
For now I would like to get off my feat and stable my mule. Come by the Wicker Goat later tonight though and I would love to share an ale and a few stories.
Ulfgar, I am going to go find this Inn and get settled in. I look forward to continuing our chat. Garrin stretched, his leather armour creaking as he did so. As comfortable as he was wearing it, he was looking forward to getting into a hot soapy tub and soaking before a long sleep. Turning back to the first guard Garrin asked, "Where do I find the Wicker Goat?
