"Thank you! Well... I hope you find what you seek."He takes the key and a fresh drink from the bar, a little disappointed he didn't get to roll those dice. He looks for other party members to sit near them, drink and listen and ... sleep.
On the way back, Drako will tell Corbin, "Maybe we should get rid of that key? What if it has some kind of magic in it to track our location? I mean, beholders are pretty damn smart and I don't exactly trust that guy or this key."
"You may be right. We'll ask those with arcane inclinations if they have seen anything like it. But let's leave that for the morning." After a few steps, "Hey! Thanks for looking out for me."
At first, I was thinking the deployment beyond the voyage. An army travels on its stomach. But a ship's crew nearly as much, and I never saw a crew turn down good cooking - though some cooks can get pretty territorial. Still, if they are a decent person they'll welcome the help. Hopefully they'll let you lend a hand aboard if you want to.

Ohhh, at my age, the works are gummed up anyway, so it doesn't really matter. He re-flavors his stone, then pulls out another and offers it to Saba: You're sure you don't want any? I can make any flavor! I'm quite the prestidigitator.

No thanks, Ephraim, I want to remember the flavor of that meal a while. Maybe in the morning.Saba smiles and straitens her shoulders, marching and humming as they walk back to the Hope.

You all arrive onto the ship just as the prescribed hour begins. Eliadra is watching from the deck. You can see slight disappointment in your eyes as she sees that you are all there on time. Once you are all on deck, the voyage begins. The magnificent Shimmering Hope sets sail as the dawn sun begins to smile down on it. With Waterdeep behind you all, now there lies a great ocean between you and Orlumbar. What all do you wish to do?

At every session, I say, "Everyone's here, except Waluigi."
Drako will stand on the deck, alternating between looking at the vast sea ahead of them and looking back at the land behind them. He will then, try to help the chef or whoever is in charge of food make breakfast (or lunch) since Drako likes to cook.
Saba is very interested in tactics, and will engage anyone she can. We fight best when we know what each other are doing is a phrase she repeats. She will push Lady D and the Captain on what we might expect. I think several of us have experience fighting at sea.
She'll ask the waterboys and the brute squad how they like to melee, and point out where the best spots are to get supporting fire from the string section. She'll talk to the ship's armorer and ask that there are at least 20 extra arrows in each of the fighting tops ['crow's nests' to you landlubbers] and at the fore of the poop deck. I' guessing there is a chance Corbin is hungover (or still drunk) so she'll try to be patient, but she will want to talk to the salty ranger - ideally while aloft - about his archery experience, angles, cover, situations where we are firing from the same spot and ones where we are apart. And to Oyrren and Ephraim, What kind of wizardry can we expect from each y'all? If there was a fight on deck, would you join Corbin and I up aloft? Abaft on the upper poop deck? Or do you prefer to get in close?
She will explain her preferences to any one in turn - She is an archer first, liking to attack from above or away if possible, but can swing a pair of scimitars if things need to get personal.

Virn fully intends to sleep in, but life on a ship comes back to him quickly, and he's awake near dawn. He drags himself out onto the deck and will put himself to work wherever there's most need -- preferably not in the sun too much until the hangover goes down, but he'll deal with it.
Oh no, dear, that's why I learned magic. No sense getting close in when you can fry them up from afar. But, there's also no sense in using fire on a ship either, is there? Ephraim cackles heartily. Do not worry, Nutsy and I can hold our own. He spends his time at a desk with his scraps of paper, all of which have complicated formulas and markings covering them.

Back and ready to DM and chew bubblegum. And I'm alllll outta bubblegum.
When Saba is asking about tactics, Drako says, "Tactics? That requires a lot of brain-work. Not really my forte. Usually I run up to the closest enemy with my sword and shield and I keep hitting it until it stops moving. If there are a lot of enemies bunched up together, I breathe fire on them. So yeah, my tactic, if you can even call it that, is to exchange blows until one of us falls."
"I must confess, I've never fought on a ship before. I did prep some tools in my book for being farther away, but also a couple surprises if folks get close. Heights though are not for me. Life's always been low and I prefer to keep it that way."
Orryn will take a look around the ship, pull a small pipe out of his bag, and take a puff. "To be honest my interest lies more in study and learning than in fighting. Discovery, that is the true joy. I certainly hope there will be many discoveries on our expedition."
Corbin wakes up when the sun is already high up in the sky. Ignoring the fire in his skull, he tries to remember yesterday's event and how he got where he is now. He could feel the familiar rocking, so, hopefully, that means he's on the Shimmering Hope. He's looking around for his equipment, then walks out on the deck.
Saba ... will want to talk to the salty ranger - ideally while aloft - about his archery experience, angles, cover, situations where we are firing from the same spot and ones where we are apart.
"I should start by saying that I don't have any military experience. Ok, actually... I don't have experience fighting alongside other people. At all ... I guess I'll follow your lead? I'm good at tracking and avoiding danger... and I can hit targets from very far away. Have you guys had lunch yet?"

Drako gives Corbin a scaly thumbs-up and says "It was nothing."
Elsa heard Saba's question and answered, "If they let me in the kitchen, yes. I'm not officially the cook there either."
