Will notices it wasn't really a person as 2 small horns petruted from its head, and the leftovers of its now mostly digested skin seemed to be purple in colour. not much else can be understood from the corpse.
Since Ghaoth is near the body he remembers something that happened while retrieving it and makes a swing at the body with the sword in two hands. But not at the armored part.
He grabs the sword with the edge of his shirt wiping the handle, then drags the flat edge of the blade along his knee, “Thank you Ghaoth, I”like put it to good use.”
He swaps weapons on his belt, stowing his old blade inside his pack.
Turning to Ghaoth he says, ”Perhaps if you grab the book with a cloth or gloves it won’t cause pain when you touch it.”
Will sighs and looks down the trail, “Perhaps this was corpse is one of the previous adventuring party the dryads spoke of...I think we should continue before this apes carcass attracts scavengers.”
“... a devil corpse, a burning book, and a problem with devils destroying the forest. Take a moment Ghaoth, we should at least attempt to read it. There may be value.” Grimalkin examines the cover of the book without touching it
The cleric has a serious look on his face and does not hesitate before taking the book by its cover, but wrapping it with a piece of cloth and setting it aside inside his bag for a moment, "First things first, allow me." he approaches the body inside the giant ape with some disgust, and proceeds to mutter magical words with eyes closed, eventually touching the corpse with one of his hands, as if pulling some sort energy from it.
"Rise, spirit, tell us of your woes. What has brought you here? What had you sought in life? What do you know of this forest and its demons? We might finish that which you quested for."
The ape doesn't really speak, but you see images from his mind somehow, you see his last few days, an happy ape with his family suddently being attacked by a small team of 8 demons, one of them weilding a black sword with shades coming from it, the fight going fierce, all but one on each side dead, him, and what appeared to be the one it ate.
After a beating eating that demon whole, from there the pain of losing the tribe he ran from the point to have new moneky business somewhere else, but something within him started hurting, and the rage, it grew, more and more painful, hearing non ape being in the forest he raged and attacked the adventurer's group and then its death and peace with it.
Hearing Arddwyr recite the apes last days Will hangs his head..."Poor happy beast."
"On my sword I shall avenge your children happy ape and kill these devils dead"...Will pulls his sword from it's sheath and begins spinning it, he recalls what Ghaoth did with his crossbow but only ends up sending the sword flying off into the grass...picking it up he turns and sets off down the trail.
Mokk watches the story but doesn't seem to be that moved one way or another, seeming to to simply accept that things like this happen. "Whatever those things it fought are we should be wary of them..."

The elf is taken aback by the messages and images he receives, but suddenly realizes his mistake, as he accidentally touched the ape's corpse before being able to touch the corpse inside the ape's stomach which he aimed for, "Poor thing. At least we have some sort of information, this was a natural beast, and fought back against whatever is corrupting this forest, let's hope this corruption hasn't spread far." he looks back at the others after relaying what he saw, "I might be able to detect this book's magical nature, but I will not have any other insight into it's eldritch properties."

Mokk shrug and will take this as a chance to rest for a few moments as he is rather sore from the ape punching so hard.

"Well, lets not let its death be in vain. I wonder how far it ran to come here?."
"Tapper lets pick the trail up that this one left and trail it to its coldest or least smell"
