Zeke trails Arvel and Fae into the Lionshielf Coster, but stops just inside the door, settling into position to watch everything that happens and respond to any unexpected visitors.
Linene Graywind takes the party, Finnan and Farnin inside the Lionshield and closes the door before speaking again. You see a large store with many wooden shelves, hooks, open barrels and small crates, etc but it is mostly barren. A few mundane items including rations, rope, travel packs, bedrolls, waterskins, empty vials, etc. appear to still be available for purchase, but the selection of goods is slim. Linene goes behind the counter and turns to all of you. "Look, I don't know any of you, but on account of the return of our goods, your story and the fact that you aren't wearing red handkerchiefs and shirts, I'm going to have to trust you. Those Redbrands have stripped us down to almost nothing." She looks at Arvel and says "to answer your question, I run the Lionshield, but there's not much left to run." "We had a few employees, but I had to let them all go. Even with the return of those goods outside, the Redbrands will take anything they find particularly valuable, and will strip me of any gold I openly exchange. Luckily, they're not too bright." At that she ducks behind the counter, pulls out a shelf and sets it aside and then pulls up a trap door in the floor. Climbing below she is gone for a full minute before climbing back up, now covered in a thin layer of dust. She hoists a heavy pouch onto the counter and says "I hope this is an appropriate thank you for returning the goods." (The party will find eventually that it contains 160 gold pieces.) "We might have more to offer or to exchange if anyone ever gets rid of those bastards, but until then it's only what I could 'set aside' ". She gestures to under the floor.
"Are you in need of any items? I might be able to scrape a few things together to help you find your friend. Maybe once you find him you'll remember us here in Phandalin, if you are as capable as you seem. A few people have opposed the bastards, but it doesn't usuall go so well. There was even a wizard here a few months back, came in for some supplies and said he was going to check out the manor on the hill, but then he disappeared too."
"Well, the Tallfellow brothers here certainly do deserve payment for the use of their wagons. But I think I speak for my compatriots when I say that we don't wish to deplete your hard earned, and well deserved, profits you've made in the face of such adversity. We'd much rather take any reward you'd care to give in the form of...let's say 'favorable' pricing in the purchase and selling of goods. My friend Ethan here has quite a bit of recovered items that he would no doubt like to sell you and each of us has need to purchase some supplies. Not to mention our employers, the Rockseekers, will be needing many more supplies in the near future and I would have no qualms whatsoever about steering their patronage in your direction. Does that seem acceptable to you?
Now, I have two areas of questioning based on what you've mentioned. What equipment do you have that you think would aid us in finding our missing employer? Also, what can you tell us about these Redbrands? If they are causing such disruption, I believe my friends and I would be more than happy to resolves said conflict if and when we are finished recovering our missing employer."
Tarja agrees that they'll have to try and deal with the Redbrands, once Gundren is out of goblin hands. She offers to help hide some of the goods they recovered in the crawlspace so the Redbrands can't get to them for now.
In terms of goods, she's interested in obtaining Smith's tools, Woodcarver's tools, and extra rope.
"I'm looking for some card, or some sticks, or some dragon bones! Oghma granted me the ability to cast this spell that lets me have brief look into how the near future could turn out and I need some card, jeweled sticks or carved dragon bones!" Elra rolls back and forth on her heels looking very excited.
“Dragon bones might be a bit of a stretch. I mean, unless our portentious sightings prove true and we are massively successful in the face of overwhelming odds. Best to just stick to a deck of cards.”
Fae would remain silent and listen as she said she would, letting Arvel do the talking. She was glad he did, for his words were on point and even though we didn't discuss any of this as a group, she felt confident that he did do a good job in speaking on behalf of them. She would nod along with his speech, agreeing with his words and business networking. When Linene would be free, Fae would take her turn to request a couple components for her spells as well by handing her a handwritten list.
Ethan's face lights up at the sight of the money, but is replaced with a look of confusion as Arveltalks, turning to a thoughtful, contemplative look, by the end.
"Yes, yes this would make sense, if we could do business with you, at reasonable prices, well, I do often need materials of various kinds, for my designs."
Ethanopens his gauntlet and retrieves his catalogue of equipment, scanning down the lists to work out the tallies.
"Ok so I have...ah, wait."
Ethanturns to his friends,
"Maybe we should keep some of the extra weapons, you know in case we need them, like we did with Sildgar?"
"Speak for yourself, pretty boy" says Finnan as the two brothers make their way to the counter, grab the bag and start counting coins. "You forfeiting your share over to your most handsome of drivers, then, boss?"
Linene eyes Arvel and leans in towards him at the counter, studying him closely. "Ah, even in the face of a flat reward you prefer to negotiate, eh? Excellent. I knew I like you lot. Ok on account your excellent leverage here with regard to the goods you returned and some good faith in dealing with those Redbrand bastards, how about a very generous lifetime 10% discount for you and your friends here at the Phandalin Lionshield Coster, Mr. Arvel, was it? 10% on top of fair value for any goods sold to me as well, assuming I find them to be suitable to be re-sold here or worthy of trade elsewhere, of course. What'ya say?"
(more to come in a bit, but feel free to have Arvel respond)
(Going to leave any pricing out of this until Arvel resolves his 'favorable pricing' request.)
Linene responds to Tarja's request by saying "well Barthen down the way has a more complete supply of tools for certain crafts, especially mining supplies, but I may have just what someone such as yourself who is often on the move might require." Soon she returns with plenty of rope and two rolled pieces of leather. Unrolling each reveals too kits held by various pockets and straps, the first including several narrow hammers, pincers, chisels, hole punches, measuring tools and the like. The other leather roll contains a small hammer, various files, a plaining tool, clamps, a T shape hand drill, a carving knife and a small saw. (Tarja has obtained Smith's tools, Woodcarver's tools, and extra rope as requested, prices pending.)
Linene seems quite interested in Elra's request, responding "well, long before my time magic users were quite prevalent here on account of the Phandelver's Pact." "Such supplies haven't sold very well since we reopened, however. We hope that might change some day as interest in the town seems to be increasing again, and thus have a few items on hand. Let me see..." She disappears below the floor once again and is gone for several minutes. You hear her moving items around down below and eventually returns with a deck of fifty-six cards and asks if they will do. The cards are extremely ornate and seem to have various forms of minerals, earth and other natural ingredients mixed in with the various inks used to craft them. (base value of 25gp for the purposes of negotiating a price with the Lionshield, and to satisfy the spell requirement; example cards below)
Linene is also able to provide Fae with all basic spell components requested. (If any have a fixed cost in the spell description, please let us know. Otherwise we'll call them free since you already have a spell focus that is intended to cover such things to start the game. The issue of someone making or purchasing a small brass brazier should probably also be addressed by the group since it keeps coming up.)
As Ethan begins to empty out the enhanced space of his gauntlet Linene watches in disbelief. Once finished she looks over the items and says "you're going to make me regret our deal about purchasing items, aren't you?" "This mostly looks like junk worn and used by the goblins you spoke of. Ah well, a deal's a deal and on account of your recent heroism I'll give you..." She begins to count the various items "*200 gold* for these items." "Maybe we can strip some of the materials down and clean them up for repurposing, at least." (Using Ethan's starting total of 435 gold full value of the items he has collected, then taking into account resale and that a lot of it, but not all, is goblin junk, this is probably generous."[As a general rule, undamaged weapons, armor, and other equipment fetch half their cost when sold in a market. Weapons and armor used by monsters are rarely in good enough condition to sell." ]We'll adjust the 200g depending on what Arvel and Linene agree upon. Thanks for doing the math on those items Paradox.)
Regarding Arvel's first question Linene gives a grin. "Wellll, we may have some 'special' items for those adventurers who have enough coin and would use them without malice." She walks around and looks closely at several of you and more specifically at your equipment, including Ethan's extremely unique equipment and Zeke's odd weapon and shield setup. "I am not familiar with some of your equipment, however, so am not sure what to offer you in this regard, IF we were to have anything along the lines of fine weaponry, for example." (Zeke's unique setup, as one example, makes it hard to offer standard weapon or shield upgrades. Feel free to inquire with Linene about any gear upgrades any of you may desire if you have something in mind, whether it be specific or vague. No promises, any selection she might have or be able to obtain would have limits.)
(Did I miss any specific requests? Anything else you might want from the Lionshield? I will address Arvel's other question in another post. I want to save this one before I lose the whole thing!)

"I'm willing to accompany you, if you wish. You can do all the talking. I'll listen." Fae would shrug
just an unstable unicorn.
Arvel smiles brightly for the first time today.
"Hello, Miss Graywind. Maxim...pardon. I'm Arvel, and you can think of me as the ersatz spokesperson for the little band that recovered your goods."
As they enter the offices of the Lionshield Coster,
"May I ask what your position is here?"
**Keep an eye on the door, Krikket. Let me know if we're going to be interrupted.**

Fae will follow Arvel, she'd nod her head to miss Graywind and keep a polite smile.

Ethan turns to Tarja and Elra,
"Do we wont to find a shop where I might be able to sell this extra stuff we collected?"
"Tarja, you seem to know this place a bit, do you know where we could sell some weapons?"

Well, the Lionshield is probably the best place for that - let’s head on in.
Edited based on DM post below!
(Tarja would know that the Lionshield is actually the best place to buy or sell weapons.)
Ethan nods,
"Sounds great, lets go."
