"Klarg, is it? Your perfidious marauding is at an end! Your henchgoblins are either dead or have surrendered to our custody! You have no chance of surviving direct combat with us! In the name of justice, lay down your arms and muzzle your beast! This will be the only offer of mercy you'll get!"
Klarg bellows out a deep laugh. "Who threatens Klarg with strong words from hiding in shadows? Klarg is strongest of Cragmaw, goblins just for his bidding. Soon he will be King, too! Klarg and Ripper not need goblins to crush tiny intruders. You come say fancy words first to Klarg real close and see what happens to you!"
Zeke casts his voice so his comrades can hear 'Tarja, I imagine you'll want to try to get Ripper to sit this out. I'll try to hold off my attacks on him until you give me some kind of a sign. Everyone else, focus your fire on Klarg, I'll close and try to keep his attention.'
Turning his attention back to the creatures in front of them Zeke's voice booms out [magicspell]thaumaturgy[/magicspell] in challenge to the Bugbear 'You've cast your life away Klarg, you face the Thrice Cursed, the Orphaned and the Damned. You face your doom!'

This one is the leader of the pack, the alpha, and he's being goaded on by his master. I might be able to talk him down if we were just passing by and wanted to be left alone, but we're trying to take down Klarg - he won't let that happen without a fight. After Klarg is out of the picture, I can try to deal with Ripper. We need a show of force before he'll listen.
(I suppose I can make an Animal Handling 4 check to see if I can confirm, based on Ripper's body language, whether my guess is correct: that it's futile to try to talk him down while Klarg is still looking strong.)
(Where are we in initiative order, who actually gets to act first here? Are we at the top of the order with Zeke going first, or are we somewhere else?)
(Tarja’s assessment of Ripper’s current motivations is quite accurate. Klarg and Ripper don’t seem to be advancing, so if you attack first we’ll call it top of the order.)

Zeke moves forward to hold the stairs while still opening enough line of sight for the rest of the party to pepper the monster with long-range fire.
'Come now Klarg, if you really are King here, come prove it!' Zeke's voice continues to boom out, and now the very ground shakes under Klarg's feet, trembling as the Tiefling challenges him to combat. thaumaturgy.
Zeke moves 2 blocks south and one block west and tucks in against the western edge of the stairs. He keeps his Kwando extended and holds his action to strike if either come in range.

Elra stays behind the party, not wanting to leave Sildar alone but still wanting to help in some way. She looks to Tarja, Zeke, and Ethan, and calls out to Oghma a prayer of guidance for the fight ahead.
(Action: Cast Bless on Ethan Tarja and Zeke. don't forget to add 1d4 to your attack and saving throws)
Action erupts inside the cavern as Zeke taunts Klarg and the others pepper the monstrous bugbear with a ranged volley. While Arvel and Tarja miss with their magical attacks, Ethan, Fae and Sildar land strikes with fire and iron (for a total of 10 damage). Klarg is finally angered enough to charge but Zeke is more than ready and lands a blow, even managing to duck under one swipe of Klarg's massive morningstar. The next attempt leaves Zeke little room to maneuver near the wall however and the barbarian is struck hard for 10 damage. Ripper approaches bearing his fangs but seems to be waiting for the command of his master and perhaps more space to maneuver. Meanwhile, Elra calms her nerves and prays to Oghma, Ethan, Tarja and Zeke feeling divine intervention begin to guide their movements ever so slightly.
Sorry for the delay everyone, had a work emergency that I had to cover for.
Took the liberty of moving a couple of people a square or two to ensure they could see their targets.
I did not see any mention of raging, correct? I imagine you were waiting for the fight to truly begin.
I should have put a marker on Ethan, Tarja and Zeke as a reminder for Bless. That will be on the next map.

Tarja again casts Create Bonfire on Klarg's space (DC 13 dex save or he takes 2 damage; if she maintains concentration, same roll for everyone who enters or ends turn in that space). She then moves down two spaces and left one to be next to Zeke, trying to crowd the entrance so Ripper and Klarg can't easily maneuver, and brandishes her scimitar defensively.

Zeke takes the brunt of Klargs assault, grunting in pain as the morningstar crashes into him and channels it into the controlled fury he learned in the temple. The cold heat washes across his body, focusing him on battle building around him and letting everything else fall away.
He faces the hulking bugbear and swings his blade at the vicious creature.
Yup, held Rage until now. hold position and look to keep Klarg and Ripper bottled up on the stairs.
Ethan moves forward to fill the space Tarja vacated.
Ethan turns his gauntleted hand, so it is pointing mostly up.
Twisting the selector dial, Ethan presses his thumb to the cut stone, and a flash of magical light accompanies the activation of the glove.
With a quick display of laser like magical energy, a canister is formed just above the palm of his open hand, and drops into it.
Taking the canister, Ethan throws it at the ground between Klarg and Ripper.
As the canister makes contact with the ground, a small internal explosion breaks the canister, sending its content spreading out over the floor.
It appears to be a whitish, lard-like grease. It seems to have an immediate effect on the two hostiles, causing them to have to try to keep their balance.

Action: Cast Grease: Centred on the spot where the bottom-right corner of Klarg's square touches the centre-top of Rippers square. Any creature standing in the 10ft square, when cast, must immediately make a DEX save (DC13) or fall prone. Any creature entering the area, or ending its turn within the area, must make a DEX save (DC13) or fall prone. Lasts 1 minute, no concentration.
Standing a little in awe as she witnesses Ethan’s glove activate in a new way, releasing a lard-like grease, Fae’s eyes would enlarge as if an idea just came to her. She’d lower her arm from her fire bolt stance to spread both arms out, then fold them in at her elbows to clap her hands together at chest height. The sound of her clap would cause her arcane crystal to light up its familiar violet.
A spectral hand will swirl into existence in front of Fae and she’d give it a little wave before rummaging into her bag. The hand would return the wave before waiting palm up, maybe even a little impatiently. Fae would pull out a piece of jerky from her rations and give it to the hand before lifting her own hand up to do a ‘shooing’ motion to send it off towards Ripper.
Fae’s eyes would follow the mage hand and she’d specifically maneuver it to appear like it may come from Tarja, at least from her direction. She’d have the hand offer the jerky to Ripper, much like Tarja did with his pact. Fae would crouch if she’d have to to make eye contact with Ripper, hoping he could sense her offering of peace, and maybe even smell his pact off of Tarja and realize that he doesn’t smell their blood. At this point of possible vulnerability in Ethan’s grease, she’s hoping by showing Ripper some mercy, they could win his favour over his ‘master’. How well did Klarg really treat you and your pact I wonder...
