Tarja regards the turret with some curiosity. Like a spider, but not quite a spider. Mechanical spider? Magical spider? Very intriguing, whatever it was!
She sympathizes with Arvel's plight, though. Yeah, I've wanted to be less conspicuous, sometimes. I've never been the best at fitting in.
Before we head out, we'd best get some provisions. I'd also like to stop by the shrine for a moment.
Ethan'ssmile, beams from his face, at Fae's words.
At Arvel's mention of a 'public display' the night before, Ethanremarks,
"I don't think anyone really noticed you being asleep when we arrived. I helped Zeke drag you to your room, I don't remember anyone really paying much attention."
When the others mention doing some shopping, Ethanadds,
"Oh we have some stuff to sell, if we can. Shields, spears, daggers, shortbows, etc."
"If we can sell it, we can split the money between us, get a little more to help with any purchases."
"It happened after you went up to your room. Avrel started going on about the spell components for find familiar and trying to give random people money. It was kinda funny and a little scary. But I dont see why she'd punish you for something that's her fault though. I told Loremaster Altervast about her though, so maybe he'll know something about her. He knows a lot of stuff, that's why he's in charge of the House of Knowledge." Elra explains, rubbing the tip of her pen and frowning slightly. "I need to get a new one. I ran out of ink too while I was writing a letter to Loremaster Altervast. Oh!" Elra rushes up to the counter.
"Hi again, sorry but I just thought of this. Vincent, my owl, might be coming back here later today with a letter for me. If he does show up can you pretty please make sure that he just stays here? I'm not sure if he knows where to find me if I'm out and about."
As Ethan shows off his latest invention and it starts to climb a wall there is a brief but loud shattering sound near the bar area. As the group looks Toblen is standing there in awe of Ethan's creation, just having dropped a ceramic mug of something hot. He stares for a long moment before faking a smile and say "ah, yes, good morning all, good morning." "Um, ah, well, that's... that's neeewww?" He takes a moment to gather himself while cleaning up his mess before joining you all in the dining room. "Um, look, you all seem like nice folks and you are very welcome here at the Stonehill Inn, but, ah, after last night..." He glances at Arvel. "Well you see, people in Phandalin aren't used to these sorts of, um, magical, ah, ...gifts? Yes, gifts. Could you perhaps, um, well..." He seems to suddenly have an idea. "Perhaps you could display your magic out in the town square instead of in he.. well, you know. People might love to hear an explanation of your various, um, ...creations?"
Trilena fields Elra's request about Vincent and smiles and replies "yes, of course dear."
Zeke is the first outside for his patrol and spies a curious sight in the town center, right in front of the Lionshield Coster. What must be the crates originally bound for delivery to the merchant all the way from Neverwinter combined with the crates recovered from the Klarg's cave are stacked high for all to see. The work to do so seems entirely unnecessary, but there they sit, many stacked two or even three high, and even one crate making up a forth level at the center. Atop of the crates Finnan, or is it Farnin, sits smiling and waving to Zeke. He kicks his brother who is asleep under a large hide tarp and rouses him.
Ethanlooks concerned at Elra's confirmation of Arvel's actions the night before.
"Oh, wow, really? Are you ok now Arvel?"
At Toblen's remarks about taking the turret outside and showing others, Ethanasks,
"Really? You think the people of Phandalin would be interested?
Ethansmiles and heads outside with his turret, looking for people to explain everything to.
Seeing the Halfling brothers, Ethanwaves good morning, as the turret attempts to do the same, balancing on three legs, while the forth leg waves awkwardly back and forth.
Fae would trickle behind Ethan and his turret, watching each of its movements with curiosity. She felt excited for Ethan’s accomplishment, feeding off his energy.
Her eyes would go wide at the theatrical sight of the halfling brothers as the group approaches. She’d place her hand over her face for a moment before giving them a wave as well. “Morning.”
Toblen replies to Ethan "ah, well, yes I suppose..." but is mostly just happy to have some of the party's antics taken outside of his establishment.
As the individual party members make their way out of the Stonehill Inn for the first time during daylight, they get a better look at the town. One feature that was not so easy to see during the rainy evening during which they arrived was a large castle or manor atop a hill on the east side of town. It has long since crumbled and does look like it would be inhabited in any way.
Finnan and Farnin tip their caps and smile at Zeke, Ethan, Fae and the rest. Just then a stern looking human woman in her thirties emerges from the Lionshield Coster and demands "what is the meaning of this?" "Why do you have all of my goods?" Finnan proclaims "Madam, we have rescued your wares from the clutches of the most vile monsters of this land and deliver them here for you, as is our specialty." He gestures towards his brother to give him credit. Farnin glances at Zeke and adds "ah, by 'We' he means us, that is, some of these fine folk too, well, mostly them, really." Finnan elbows his brother hard in the chest for being more modest about the retrieval of the goods. The human woman relaxes a little and says "well, this is a bit of a surprise." "How? Where did you find them?" She looks back and forth between Zeke, Ethan, Fae and the brothers.
Zeke looks on as Ethan rambles through his account of the party's exploits, standing close enough to lend credence to his account. He carefully studies the woman who has stepped out and demanded an account of their actions - he's not accustomed to being yelled at for returning stolen goods or slaying goblins.....
We were trying to find Gundren and Sildar. They'd been taken by goblins, so we got them back. In a cave, about a day's half day's from here, just off the road. All these crates were there too, so we figured we might as well return them, too.
Sildar's goins to stick around here for a bit while he recovers, he can probably tell you his side of the story. We still haven't found Gundren. Still looking, we'll have to head out of town soon, once we pick up some provisions.
Tarja looks skeptically at Ethan's "MCP" as it crawls around.
Might be best to save the demonstrations of that until we're out of town. You might scare folks around here. Giant spiders aren't the friendliest of creatures usually, and this one's mechanical to boot. Best keep it as unthreatening as you can.
Fae would move forward and nod, "What my friends are saying is true. To summarize, we infiltrated a goblin hideout on a rescue mission came across these goods stashed in their possession. It was suggested by Elra," She'd gesture to their cleric, "To return these goods to their rightful owners. And here we are." She'd gesture to the pile of goods the Halfling brothers stacked.
Fae would gentle place her hand on Ethan's forearm, giving it a gentle pat. "How about we designate a testing area outside of town where we can set up a safe area for citizens to spectate another time? We need to finish our prepations, though we should hurry. I worry for Gundren's safety. Perhaps we can test it along the road."
The woman from the Lionshield looks taken aback by the story and Ethan's display, never mind the general appearance of these new and interesting characters in town. "Oh" she replies, taking it all in. "Well that's quite the story. Thank you for returning our goods. I'm Linene, Linene Graywind, at your service. I suppose a reward is in order. Would a couple of you be willing to join me inside?" She nods back towards her door while looking around the square and appearing a bit nervous.

"Yeah we recovered them. Some goblins had kidnapped our friends and were going to eat them, so we went and saved them, well one of them."
"We are going to go rescue our other friend, sometime today I think."
Ethan looks to Zeke and then Fae for confirmation of his claim.
"Anyway, yeah we found your stuff and thought we could bring it back, so it wasn't going to waste and the goblins couldn't use it."
Ethan looks around for Tarja,
"One of our friends even turned into a horse so we could get it all back to the wagons, it is amazing what she can do."
"We are lucky this is your stuff. If this stuff had been form somewhere else, it would have been hard to get to back to the owner."
Ethan goes back to playing with his new toy, getting the turret to walk around the tower of crates.
Ethan has a thought and looks around at everyone.

At Tarja's and Fae's recommendation about his turret, Ethan nods thoughtfully, looking at the turret and the other people going about their lives.
"Hmm, yeah ok sure. I've got enough readings for now anyway, and the magic is getting close to running out."
Ethan directs the turret to return to him, where it then begins to become transparent, and brake down.
As the magical matter that makes up its construction looses coherency, it also begins to crumble and flack away at the edges.
Soon there is only a small mound of half transparent dust or ash, and then a moment later even that is gone, leaving no trace of the turret.
(imagine something both fading away to transparency, and coming apart like half the people in the universe did, in Avengers: Infinity War)
