Stool's stroll was fast paced, even though Ree'lyn just walked at a normal pace by his side. The myconid shambled, its whole body wobbling trying to keep up with the drow.
The walk did not take him far. The camp was right over there. The campfire was lit and the shadows danced on the rocky walls and floor. Ree'lyn stood facing the dark. Still and quiet, he looked at the very depth of the dark passage of a neighboring tunnel. These tunnels were his home. This maze of tunnels, cliffs, chasms, underground rivers, an underground sea. All the life. His home. And now it was being invaded.
Jezzika raised an eyebrow at the request from Svana. She replied telepathically.
"What an interesting request."she said mentally back to Svana. "Oh, and, of course, thank you for drying my clothes! One moment."She took a quick minute to put on her pants and her black spider silk top, but nothing more. She got comfortable in front of the fire and thought for a moment on how to answer the question.
"First off, Umbra is a cosmic force from another universe."she began. "It is old beyond normal humanoid understanding. Who knows if the reality it even came from is where it did originate. However, when this universe was new, and raw, and just forming, Umbra entered our cosmos and used it's powers to infect and assimilate worlds. This caught the attention of our native Gods of good and evil, and they rose up against it. Many Gods fell during that time, but they all managed to defeat Umbra, where he hid in the core of a star far, far away to heal until the time was right. For what? I am not sure. Umbra is vengeful, angry, condescending - but it contains knowledge of our universe and beyond. Think of what it knows! I know Umbra is an evil God. He is..tailoring me..for something. I'm not sure what. But he has been teaching me the secrets of the stars for as long as I can remember. And for that, I am grateful to be a chosen one, even if his intentions are malicious. Who can understand the mind of a God such as Umbra."
"Tell me, Svana."Jezzika said finally. "Why do you ask these questions? What is it you seek from Umbra. Answers?"
Duke approaches Amara again, once they've arrived at camp. "Declaration: You possess healing magic. Secondary Declaration: If any of your magic is capable of healing mental assault, I request that you use it to aid Svana and myself. If your power is in limited supply, I request that you use it on her. Tertiary Declaration: I also request that you do not tell her of this. I do not wish for her to be concerned for my sake or think that I am doing this because of my earlier failures. Quaternary Declaration: I promise that I will perform better on the next occasion where you need my assistance."

In a huge, apparently endless, library, the light from outside shone bright and did not hurt his eyes.
He looked at a giant book, laying on a crafted support. A flying insect-like being hovered above his head.
The drow was looking at the text and picture ofa humanoid of pointed ears resembling blighted elves, in a perpetual state between life and death. He remember that one. From long ago. A female. He could have been killed by her, but the creature had instead taken a creepy interest on him. Until she was killed by T'rissae; the assassin. And she was so much more. Like her shadow wings. Ree'lyn's left hand moved to flip the page; a delicate, thin and long jeweled fingers hand rested over his and helped him doing that. He wanted to look back to see her face. He could not. He felt a perfume of lavender. He had seen lavander just a couple times. He had drawn it in his sketchbook.
Next page showed a hideous and wicked of giant, deformed and misshapen. There was something else about this one. The blisters covering its skin were greenish yellow, and his incredibly threatening armor seemed to make it all look even worse. He was worse. The worst of them all. Once more, Ree'lyn flipped the page. Once more, the soft hand of jeweled fingers helped him. This next page showed distorted trees, foggy tunnels of rocky walls. All twisted. All nightmarish. Why was he seeing this? Why now? Destruction, destroyers and danger. All around. Even far from here.
He understood now.
For the change he was aiming for, his efforts shall be beyond his limits now.
Ash studies Talike for a minute before shaking her shoulder a little. "Talike. Are you okay? Can you hear me?" After a few seconds of shaking and no response, Ash let's out a slight sigh, drops her hand from Talikes shoulder, and looks her over, muttering to herself. "Worked almost every other time. Why not?" With a slight pause, Ash turns Talike to face her and offers her an apologetic smile. "You'll forgive me... I hope." Almost instantly, Ash's hand contacts with Talikes cheek with a loud slap that probably echoes across the groups camping area. Ash takes a quick step back in case Talike tries to retaliate and looks her over.

Felix Windfall (Human-V Lv.7 Rogue) killed in ToA,Vallan Houndstrider (Halfling Ghostwise Lv.1 Fighter) in DiA
Upon the groups arrival at a suitable camping spot, a still on edge Enkindle couldn't sit still worth a damn. She took to patrolling along the outskirts of the camp, scratching and rubbing at her forearms. Her expression is vacant however, even as the tattoos along her form began glowing faintly in a tone akin to lava. Only after a minute or two of this does she finally take note, and freezes upon the spot, the glossy-eyed look fading rapidly with time.
'Stay... Calm... Bright.... One....'
Enkindle looks up sharply in search of the source. But as panic gave way to reminiscence, she hustles over to her corner again, kneeling with her symbol clutched between two hands. Not once has anyone ever seen her pray in such a fashion. It was always ever an active thing involving chanting something as she maintained her weapons in a trans-like state. Or in some other more active fashion. In that time, nothing short of being shaken can draw her out of it. And even then, those that do may find their hands scalded upon contact. Only after the light dims some time -- an hour, perhaps -- later does it seem safe. Yet, she remained locked in mute prayer, half-mouthing words along the way.
The answer came out so easily from her mind, she did not hesitate one second despite the chaos ensuing around them (again having 7 sisters came in handy). "I... I do not know if you remember, but I once mentioned my dear brother, Amir. What I did not mention was that he was killed and I have reason to believe he was murdered by his best friend." She sucks in a breath and continues. "N-now do not laugh, but my reason for believing this is that my brother had reached out to me in my dreams. He told me to seek the truth, and I was so close, but... That opportunity was ripped away from me." Svana looks down at her hands now balling up into fists."If he contains knowledge of our universe and beyond, there must be a way Umbra could help me find out the truth." Her gaze returns to Jezzika's, a fire burning brightly behind dark red eyes. "And I am willing to do whatever it takes for it."

Jezzika nodded, listening to Svana. She paused a moment to consider what Svana was asking.
"Whatever it takes."she mused. "I would be more than happy to assist you in your search for answers about your brother."she said. "Truly, a very sad story. It is very possible Umbra has the answers you are searching for, but there is always a price to pay for his insight, wisdom, and answers. I will speak with Umbra and I will find a way to help you. What you ask will change your life. I hope you are really prepared. What you are asking..is no simple favor."
When they camp, Amara closes her eyes, trying to calm herself after the psyche-shaking sight of Demogorgon. She attempts to ground herself in peaceful memories, but the image of the demon lord just kept coming back. Suddenly, her mind was pulled from her body, which abruptly slumped over against the wall.
Amara stared around at the place she found herself in. It was not the roof of her house, as she was accustomed to finding herself in dreams, but rather the top of a mountain, clouds rolling in a neverending sea in all directions. As she turned, she found she stood before a simple stone building, the door closed. In front of the door stood Sarastriel, clad in her armor as always. Though Amara still could not see the angel's face, the holy being almost seemed...tense. Or perhaps even worried? Amara swallowed. "What was that...thing?"
Sarastriel's voice was grave. "The evil I need you to stop. The greatest of the creatures that has infiltrated this world."
Amara's eyes narrowed. "That thing nearly tore my mind to shreds with its very presence. Enough of these vague words and references to 'great evil'! You have kept me from going back to the surface, to my wife and daughter, to my family, to defeat that thing! WHAT WAS IT?"
The angel seemed almost shocked as Amara shouted the last words. "Its name..." she said softly. "Is the Demogorgon. A prince of darkness, lord of demons, ruler of a layer of the Endless Abyss. The absolute antithesis of all that I and my kind stand for." She knelt so that her eyes met Amara's. "And if you do not defeat it, it will rampage through this world until it has laid waste to all of this plane."
Amara swallowed hard. "I couldn't even keep my mind in its presence," she admitted shamefacedly. "How could I possibly defeat it?"
"With help," Sarastriel told the elf. "Both mine and someone else's." She beckoned for Amara to follow her as she rose to her feet and moved into the building, the elf following after a moment. Inside the house, dozens of creatures were present, from golden birds to fluttering winged sprites. Sarastriel spoke in a guttural tongue, and a tiny gold dragon dropped from the roof into the angel's arms. "This is Deya. She has asked to help you on your quest, and I have granted her wish. You two will now be bound to one another, you will be able to summon her to you and you even may be able to convince her to take on certain other shapes. If you work with her, an even deeper connection may be unlocked."
Deya jumped from Sarastriel's arms to Amara's shoulder. The elf looked up at the angel. "Thank you," she breathed.
Sarastriel turned a serious gaze onto Amara. "Thank me by defeating this evil. Thank me by purging his influence from your mind and the minds of your friends, and sending him back to the Abyss he came from."
Amara comes out of her reverie as Duke comes over, sitting up slowly. "Of course dear," she tells the warforged with a smile. "I can heal you both." She touches the warforged briefly on the arm, golden light flowing across its metallic body for a moment as it feels any remaining clouds lift from its mind (lesser restoration). "I'll do Svana shortly, as soon as she's done with Jezzika." She glances around, then after a moment, opens her bag.
From out of the bag pokes a tiny gold head. The pseudodragon regards the environment steadily for a moment, then vanishes again, possibly fast enough to escape the notice of anyone not paying direct attention.
Even though nothing major had happened just yet, Svana felt the weight of the world on her shoulders that very moment, but her heart and mind were set. She knew the risks, even had an idea of what Umbra would want of her, but she had contemplated this for years.
What would she give to find the truth? The answer was always anything.
"I am aware," She answered. "But I want to give my brother closure. I feel as if he is still here, somewhere, waiting for me to uncover the truth so he can finally rest." Her look goes somber. "I would want nothing more but to give that to him as a final goodbye." Svana gives a gentle smile to Jezzika. "I appreciate the help, Jezzika, truly. I'll be... waiting for a response." She gets up from her place and looks at the line. "Apologies everyone! She's now serving customer number two!" She throws back Jezzika a wink. "Good luck, sundar."

After a time reflecting on the darkness of the tunnel caves, Ree'lyn approaches the camp again with Stool wobbling by his side. "We play now? " - asksthe Myconid. - "Not yet."
The absently minded drow sees Amara not far from him. Glancing around, he sees Jezzika speaking to Svana and DUKE keeping some distance but looking at their direction.
"Amara." - he says with a subtle nod. "I am glad you are feeling well. Our departure was quite distressing." - he was trying to find the best words. - " Let'sfight it back, Amara. All of us." - looking at her with serious look. A grievous look. - "The challenges ahead of us are far from ending. I have much tobelieve we are not done with this situation yet. We must learn to overcome this."
Duke doesn't understand any of the references about Carnival lines or customers being served, but as he departs from Amara, he sees Svana passing by, having finished her conversation with Jezzika. As he walks over to Jezzika, he wishes her goodnight, as he usually does. "Declaration: I hope that you are able to find rest tonight, despite the day's events. Secondary Declaration: You displayed bravery in encouraging myself and Jezzika on, despite what you had endured. That is something that I wish I had displayed."
He arrives in front of Jezzika, and pulls out the ticket with #32 printed on it."Observation: When the entity appeared and attacked our minds, you were able to withstand the assault and were not consumed by fear, like I was. You were able to assist your friend when he needed to, something that I failed at. I fled, abandoning Amara when she needed my assistance, despite my promise to her. And while I was successfully able to get Svana out of the area, I was unable to provide aid to her when she was distressed, as I was too consumed by fear to even communicate clearly. Inquiry: How were you able to succeed where I did not?"

"Ree'lyn," Amara greets the drow with a smile. "I'm much better now, thank you." She gives him an even look. "I'm sure we will overcome it, in fact I may have just acquired a way to do so. If you wish to discuss my map or our route, do come speak with me again. And if you need to talk about anything else."
"Ah!"Jezzika gleamed at DUKE, "It's my favorite wastepaper basket! How patiently you waited to speak with me about Umbra knows what."she did her best to act serious, but almost failed, knowing Duke probably wouldn't appreciate the humor. "How can I make your day, Spanky?"
She listed to Duke and nodded sagely as he spoke.
"I think you will find that humans are capable of wonderful things that will amaze you on a daily basis, my stinky friend."Jezzika said, "When you have seen some of the things that I have, you tend to..build a resistance to fright, I suppose. I guess you could say that's one benefit I have over many since Umbra has come into my life. He has shown me truly interesting and horrible things. Or, perhaps I got lucky and I have no idea what i'm talking about."She laughed out loud. "Regardless, I believe you are about as human as ANY of us, and reacted accordingly."She gives you a firm pat on the shoulder, saying "BEEP BEEP!"with each pat.

All of us." - looking at her with serious look. A grievous look. - "The challenges ahead of us are far from ending. I have much to believe we are not done with this situation yet.
He arrives in front of Jezzika,
and pulls out the ticket with #32 printed on it."Observation: When the entity appeared and attacked our minds, you were able to withstand the assault and were not consumed by fear, like I was. Inquiry: How were you able to succeed where I did not?"Xenophon: Topaz Dragonborn Fighter (ixi's Dragon of Icespire Peak)

"Ah!" Jezzika gleamed at DUKE, "It's my favorite wastepaper basket! How patiently you waited to speak with me about Umbra knows what." she did her best to act serious, but almost failed, knowing Duke probably wouldn't appreciate the humor. "How can I make your day, Spanky?"
She listed to Duke and nodded sagely as he spoke.
"I think you will find that humans are capable of wonderful things that will amaze you on a daily basis, my stinky friend." Jezzika said, "When you have seen some of the things that I have, you tend to..build a resistance to fright, I suppose. I guess you could say that's one benefit I have over many since Umbra has come into my life. He has shown me truly interesting and horrible things. Or, perhaps I got lucky and I have no idea what i'm talking about." She laughed out loud. "Regardless, I believe you are about as human as ANY of us, and reacted accordingly." She gives you a firm pat on the shoulder, saying "BEEP BEEP!" with each pat.
"Declaration: My name is Duke. Please refer to me using that name. Secondary Declaration: Thank you for providing your insight."
