The Right Honorable Western Traders Company is seeking adventurers, farmers, tradesmen and explorers to map the newly discovered island of Beresmar.

Race
Class
Willing to be an alternate (yes/no)
This adventure will be a random-ish exploration of a large volcanic island (thanks to Azgaar for the map generator). I am going to try and stretch this campaign out of "in-game" years. Because of that, I am going to incorporate some 1e rules regarding leveling up, the XP (by 5x) required for leveling (i.e. we will use Milestone advancement), and I will award 1e class benefits for higher classes.
Races and Classes are limited to Players Handbook and Sword Coast Adventurers Guide (I will share).
Stats should be via the Point Buy system or rolled using the forums "Dice Roller -> Abilities tab" in a PM to me.
All characters will start at first level (even replacement characters)
I will take the 1st 6, regardless of class :)
Homebrew / 1e Rules
Feel free to suggest Homebrew rules as we continue and I will work with you.
Leveling Up (Training) [I may adjust down depending on adventure]
Can only be done in a secure setting, such as a city, town, fortress.
1 week (game time) per current level must be spent in training. [ 1 week for level 1 going to level 2 ]
Components: Normal components + 25gp (Half as much as developing a potion)
Combat
To speed things up, character and opponents will go in blocks based on the highest role for individuals and then in order of initiative within their block. Example:
Initiative Roles
Char 1: 15
Char 2: 11
Char 3: 16
Goblin 1: 12
Goblin 2: 1
Goblin: 10
Combat Order
Char 3: 16
Char 1: 15
Char 2: 11
Goblin 1: 12
Goblin 3: 10
Goblin 2: 1
Pace of play
Expect at least 1 post per weekday from me. I tend to come into work very early and usually work a post in the AM (USA Eastern Time). Weekends are not out of the question, but will be more late evening.
I will notify the group should I be out for any significant time.
If you will be out for a significant period of time, please let me know, and if you would prefer that I, or another player, act in your stead.
If your absence is holding up roleplay or combat, without instructions, I will proceed with either playing your character or asking another player to act in your stead.
Movement / Time
Time
Days (including resting during movement) will be 16 hours
Nights will be 8 hours
Overland
Daytime movement will be divided into posts according to the terrain rate of movement for a 6 mile hex. However, mapping will actually take place on a 1 mile hex. Therefore, the party (lead) may specify how many miles in what direction on a per mile basis.
I will stop movement automatically if your "passive perception" detects something, there is a change in environment, or on any condition the party specifies (i.e. We want to stop at the next stream)
Underground
I will proceed with your directions until something significant is in view (door, offshoot tunnel)
When searching, please give as specific directions as possible (i.e. I will search the desk, not I will search the room)
General "searching" times, by room size
Small
Medium
Large
Night / Rest
Night will be divided into 2 four-hour periods, allowing for 1 long rest.
In the case of forced marches, night will consist of 1 four-hour period, allowing for 1 short rest.
Errata
Maps
I will endeavor to keep maps up to date, and they will either be on or linked to the Campaign page for easy reference.
Encumbrance / Food / Consumables
Encumbrance rules will be generally followed.
Rations will be consumed
Foraging may occur in lieu of movement or at the cost of reduced movement
Other consumables (such as arrows, darts, etc.) should be kept track of by the player and following combat they should roll for how many are recovered (if any).
Players that fall out, will have their characters turned into NPCs and/or fall foul of Murphey's Law.
Replacement players may join on next trip to civilized location.
The posters, tacked up to the taverns and common spaces of Baldur's Gate read:
