"I've had a bit of experience when it comes to animals and things of that nature, perhaps I can be of some assistance?" Georges piped up. "It shouldn't be too hard to track one of these things down, especially if their paw prints haven't disappeared. I suggest we track whatever creature left these tracks, and then hunt it. Since Bren said it was an apex predator, I can cast an illusion of some prey, and once it goes in to attack, one of you can promptly end its life. That tends to be what I do when I go hunting with my father."
(OOC: I decided to try the color change myself, haha :))
OCC: Updated the "Explored" map with a red line for your path.
Bren
OCC: 16 Passive Perception
Now that you have been standing here a short time, the hairs on the back of your neck start to rise... you feel your being watched, by unfriendly eyes.
Bren takes a second to act further on this feeling before alarming anyone in the group. He looks closely at the treeline, looking for any hiding enemies or creatures.
Perception: 20
"You know, that'd be great. But I have the feeling that we'll need to table that for now. I get the strange feeling that someone, or something, is watching us."
Navi would roll up the maps and tuck them away safely with any tools she had out. She’d calmly reach for her shield and place a hand on her axe to be ready. She’d take a moment to look where Bren May be looking.
As your eyes look up one of the trees, you realize you are looking at an excellently camouflaged head of brown and green! Too large bulbous, insectoid eyes and a sharp beak-like mouth make up most of the head twice as big as your own! The rest of the body is so excellently camouflaged, you cannot distinguish between it and the tree.
Bren begins backing away slowly. "I believe we've found our predator. I'd back away from that tree if I were you, before it does anything rash." He points to the canopy of one of the trees. "Some sort of insect, from what I can tell."
Corum who was running around the area exploring and being just generally exited about the landscape, walks up to Brens side What are you talking about? I don't notice anything. You imagination is getting away from you
Navi would position herself between the bulk of the boys and where Bren is fixed on looking. She’d narrow her eyes to try and focus, but she clearly doesn’t see what he does. “I’m taking your word for it cause I don’t see shit...” she still stands at the ready with her shield.
Georges quickly got his mandolin and situated himself behind bren in case support was needed. He felt a tad bit embarrassed at the fact that everyone else looked cool in their battle formations and he was just sitting cross-legged behind them with an instrument of all things, but he pushed the emotion away and prepared himself to create a spell if needed.
Bren looks around after backing up another few feet. "Everyone ready? If so, we should launch our opening attacks as one, we know this creature is dangerous."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Corum is going to try again to see it. (Since he is following where everyone is looking can he get advantage on the roll?)
Perception 19
Attack it? Bloody hell I still can't see.... OH!! Seven Hells! Why is everything here so much bigger than me!! Are we sure we want attack this thing in its own home? I mean I will if everyone else does. With that he grips his rapier and dagger with white knuckles and tries to appear even smaller.

Yes, everyone can re-roll. If you beat a 16... feel free to read the last spoiler to Bren & Georges.
Navi would just blink, and lean in closer. She could be nose to nose with this thing and have no idea, “Aye, can’t attack something I can’t see Bren. If you guys mark it, at least I’d have something to work with?”
((lol should I try another perception check too? I don’t mind playing up not seeing the foe either though))

"i've got it." Georges said, feeling pride at the fact that he managed to actually use the spell he thought he'd never use. Getting a tad bit closer to the animal and strumming on his mandolin, Georges attempts to cast Faerie Fire.

"Mark it? That's something I can do, for sure." Bren smiles and mutters a quick prayer before extending his hand. A brilliant white light shoots from his hand in the direction of the bug.

Ulrich will back up and place his back against a tree and then hold an action to shoot at the first creature that attacks us.

Will ready an eldritch blast at a creature that leaps out at us.

I am going to be heading out of town tonight so no more posts from until the morning.
My initiative roll is 5
Also depending on how high I roll, I will save my attack/action to see if it will move down from its perch, then maneuver me behind it for a flank.
