Though you search the site, except for a few scraps of bloodied cloth, any human remains are gone. There are also no signs of animals, at least big.
Corum
Your sudden movement startles the creature, and with what looks like a furry tail in its mouth a reptile about 4 ft. from nose to tail scurries up the tree, with the frantic clicking of its nails on the tree's bark.
Corum has a hand to his chest, breathing slightly heavier he chuckles and calls down, Haha some adventurer I am, just had a bit of a scare from some type lizard eating its lunch. Should have packed a spare set of pants if this is going to be the trend for me haha. Deciding to leave it be he climbs back down to the ground. He has a sheepish grin as he comes to the ground So much for being a Fearless Rogue it would seem. Might not have been a lot to you lot but that thing looked as tall as I am!
Navi would blink at Corum, before going to inspect around the tree he just climbed for any additional hints of what the creature he saw might be. Claws, shedding scales, fur hairs, etc Anything to help identify it or what it was eating. "Did you see what kind of 'lunch' it was eating?" She'd ask.
She'd go to stand by Bren who had found westward tracks. Navi would squat down to get a closer look at the strange tracks that appear to have been made with four large sticks. She'd reach down to touch and inspect the dirt and how hard packed the tracks may be.
((Would she be able to tell if this is a tactic to try and cover tracks? Or if it occurs naturally? The description with the sticks has me thinking like a makeshift gurney/stretcher for medical hauling or humanoids covering their tracks. Could be way off... lol))
Corum dusts himself off and walks over to join the others. All i could see was a fluffy tail. But seriously that thing had to have been 4 maybe 5 feet tall... Do you think all the wild life will be bigger here? He says anxiously?
"That could be, but I'd hope not. Are you alright?" Assuming that he gets an affirmative answer, Bren looks to the others. "Anyone know what these tracks are made by? I've not spent enough time in the wilds to have a clue. I'd feel better if we knew what we're tracking right now."
Navi would furrow her brows, “I’m stumped. I don’t understand these tracks.” She’d look to where they go, “I’d bet creatures out here would be big. They got lotsa ‘free space’ out here.” Navi would stand back up “Unless you lads got any better ideas, I’m going this way. Ain’t gunna find out more standing around to be the lizards next snack.” and she’d start to navigate down the tracks.
As Navi leads the way following the strange tracks, they would seem to indicate a wandering creature as they weave their way generally westward through the forest for nearly a mile before suddenly disappearing just shy of a pool in a small stream.
"Huh." Georges said with a huff, stopping by the stream. "How can we track it now?" He ran a hand through his hair and turned to his companions, shrugging his shoulders. "Honestly, I think we should set a bait to see if it comes back. This area may be its hunting grounds." Sitting down, he continued. "But, that's just a suggestion. Whatever creature this is could have just stopped here for a snack. I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable person when it comes to the great outdoors." Georges scowled as he fanned a bug away.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.

While traveling Ulrich will try and rack his brain to see if he can possibly tell what this creature is but is having no luck what so ever. He will continue to think about the matter, hoping the "voice" might offer an explanation, not holding his breath as that voice tends to only have a singular vision.
"Well friends," looking around if he sees anything out of the ordinary, "we can either camp here a bit out of the way and leave a snack for this creature, or we can head upstream to see where that goes. Navi, is this stream marked on the map and does it lead anywhere? If we do follow the stream we can at least find its source and mark it on the map to help out the villagers. I am still very curious as to what this creature is so we can warn future villagers about what to look for so they hopefully do not get ambushed like the others did."
This would indeed be a great spot for a predator, as the ground in littered with small tracks (nothing bigger than the palm of a halfling's hand) of many creatures. Though most are 3 to 5 toed with either thin, pointed nails (like a cat's claws) or broad rounded nails. Not well hidden , are the remains are the compressed remains of small animal bones (similar to an owl pellet).
Navi would nod at Ulrich, considering both of his suggestions. She'd reach into her pack to pull out the map and cartography tools. While it's still fresh in her mind, she'd update the map with their progress so far if it wasn't already there. She'd make detailed notes on a separate page. Navi would tuck the tools away, then hold out the map for everyone to take a look and get some fresh eyes on it.
Bren begins examining the tracks closely, moving from set to set. "Well, from the looks of the place, there's plenty of creatures that frequent this place. If we could catch some bait, perhaps, we could lure this predator out of hiding. It'd have to be large enough to be appetizing to something that eats humans, though." As he talks, he begins to look quickly at each of the others. "Do any of you hunt? Some of these prints look like they have claws. Something like a large cat maybe. I'd bet if this thing eats humans, it might eat apex predators as well. If one of these sets of tracks leads us to a lion or a leopard, I think that might be a good place to start."

I'm going to have to leave this campaign. Sorry.
"Ignorance is bliss, and you look absolutely miserable."
Hearing a squeal from up the tree, Navi would look up to Corum, hands on her hips. "What are you squawking about up there?"
just an unstable unicorn.
While everyone is searching around Ulrich will try and keep an eye out for anything that might be stalking us.
"Corum are you OK up there? Do you need help?"

The tracks are made, but not by any device, they follow the contour of the land being a little shorter or longer as needed.

Corum kneels down by the tracks once again feeling nervous by the size of them
(Nature check 3 These tracks look like they came from a vehicle of some sort haha )
No mate I haven't a clue, really wish we had a druid or a ranger with us right about now... preferably a pretty looking druid
