It is a pretty easy climb down, especially with the rope. The four of you now stand on a sandy ledge that overlooks a subterranean gulf of darkness to the west. The ledge is wide but rough. Sand, rocky debris, and the bones of small animals cover it. A rough-hewn stairwell zigs and zags down the side of the ledge, descending into darkness.

Hallow casts prestidigitation to light her bullseye lantern, she shines it down the stairwell, then looks down the stairwell to see if she can see anything of note.
The stairs are roughly carved and are 5-foot-wide; they descend down to another smaller landing before switching back to continue down into the darkness. The stairs don't look dangerous to traverse and nothing else seems to catch attention.

Aaidi drops down from the rope and gives a cursory glace to his surroundings to make sure that no rats or other nasty surprises were waiting for them (perception: 23).
"Seems we've all made it just fine. Shauku, any chance you can climb up to retrieve the rope? unless it's too much of a chore, I don't think we're risking anything by leaving rope around."
He then squints down the stairs, as Hallow did, although with less care. "I guess we head down that way then. Anyone want to take point?"
Arashi takes the lantern from Hallow giving her a quick thank you, and then begins slowly descending down the staircase until he reaches the bottom or notices anything suspicious along the way.
Aaidi takes third place, following behind Hallow. He makes a point of looking behind him, making sure that there's nothing sneaking up on them in either direction.
The four of you make your way down the narrow staircase, despite how the stairs look they aren't dangerous to traverse. There are landings at each point the staircase switchbacks that can be used to rest or prepare any equipment needed. As you make your way down a fortress emerges from the darkness. The subterranean citadel, though impressive, seems long forgotten, if the lightless windows, cracked crenellations, and leaning towers are any indication. All is quiet, though a cold breeze blows up from below, bringing with it the scent of dust and a faint trace of rot.
Arashi and Aaidi: At some point on the party's decent, you two manage to look down the stairs and see a small courtyard below that appears to have once been the top of a crenellated battlement. following the staircase with your eyes you two can see that the stairs lead down to that courtyard.

The narrow stairs empty into a small courtyard, apparently the top of what was once a crenellated battlement. The buried citadel has sunk so far into the earth that the battlement is now level with the surrounding floor. That floor stretches away to the north and south, composed of a layer of treacherous, crumbled masonry, which reaches to an unknown depth. To the west looms the surviving structure of what must be the Sunless Citadel. A tower stands on the west side of the courtyard.
Hallow: You see that there is a 10-foot-square section of floor by the tower door that is missing some mortar around the edge.

”Be careful everyone, it looks like this floor could collapse at any minute, especially near that door” Hallow points to the door, then begins to think quietly out loud If I made tremors using Thaumaturgy, would that make it all fall, or just the weaker bits?
Shauku climbs down behind him.
Hallow happily climbs down after Shauku

Shauku tries to catch anything new from this vantage point, relying on his dark vision if need be.

Shauku considers it.
"You're probably right. Besides, if we need a fast retreat it's best to keep it there in place."
Shauku will follow behind who ever is taking point.
Arashi looks at Shauku and nods in agreement, and then proceeds to step forward and asks Hallow if he can borrow her bullseye lantern.
"I'm fine with leading the way, but I'd like to be able to see a bit better if you don't mind."
”Of course! Here you are!” Hallow says, happy to help someone, as she hands Arashi the lit lantern (Will be lit for 6 hours)
