Zyman cleared his throat : « What has me wondering is why a dwarven jarl who has come to power through a bloody civil war or rebellion which he led in part, would send two hundred of his shield-brethren to fight under an elvish commander. It’s not as if he wouldn’t have the commanders. This seems almost entirely political and symbolic to me- a sign of the steadfast alliances that Three Peaks is forging. I can see him use us to the same political and psychological effect. Should his enemy be of a similar psychology to us, then the realisation that a broad coalition of different races from various different nations fighting them in a unified matter... well, it would be something terrifying, no? »

"As I recall, the Alliance commander was the one requesting forces, and Hammerthorn seemed determined to burrow in and defend the city," says Edeleth. "He sent the two hundred warriors with some reluctance. I am not sure I would see it as a political statement as much as caving in to political pressure. If Hammerthorn were to leave the defense of his own kingdom entirely to outsiders, it would be likely to harm his status as a member of the alliance."
"It might also make it problematic--and humiliating--when he had to beg the alliance for support if Three Peaks is indeed attacked."

"I am not sure what to think of the Jarl's position, political or otherwise, or his true intentions in requesting our aid. What concerns me is that our actions have gone all the way up to the King Dragonslayer himself, and so quickly. Not to mention the unusually large rewards promised to us in the note the messenger read to us. I can only think of two reasons: first, that we are being persuaded into something quite dangerous, and second, the situation in Pinekeep, and possibly the country as a whole, is far worse than we thought. But either way, I will not stand idly by while innocent people are being harmed. Whether in Three Peaks, Pinekeep, or anywhere else."
"Quite right," says Edeleth. "We must do what we can to protect those unfortunate innocents caught up in this disaster. My only thought on King Dragonslayer's interest is that, as the tales of our adventures traveled farther from their source, they traveled equally far from the truth. It seems that our reputations have grossly outgrown reality. The king is unlikely to be a credulous fool who believes those exaggerations, or thinks that we ten ill-assorted wanderers are in any way a serious threat to a powerful enemy army, but certainly knows how to make use of a story that has engaged the masses. I find it most likely that we are being used as a propaganda tool, to encourage enlistment in the armed forces and inspire the soldiers to greater courage."
"I suspect that every effort will be made to bolster and spread our legendarytales," he adds. "Until we will serve equally well as either conquering heroes or glorious martyrs."
He is glad Rosri isn't hearing him say this. It would give the rogue another really good arguing point.

Saerirra looks off at nothing in particular, processing all of the thoughts and musings brought to the table this morning. She shakes her head to clear it somewhat.
"Let us worry over that when the time comes. We have a festival to enjoy. And myself and Cade are part of the day's entertainment."
Saerirra strums her fingers along her shiny silver flute with a smile, looking forward to playing it before, possibly during, and after the show she and Cade are a part of.
After a long, unsuccessful day searching through the library for some information about the entity the gnolls had been worshipping, Peshley heads back to the Hanging Chicken. Frustrated with her lack of progress, she gets her rapier, finds somewhere quiet and tries to practice with it. She swings it sharply, getting the point to whistle as it flicks through the air; she steps forward and thrusts before twisting the blade down to deflect another attack. The sword feels comfortable in her hand, but the movements feel awkward as she does them.
The night goes by, uneventful (for most...). As the Sun rises above the Three Peaks, the City prepares for Remembrance Day. Dozens of Banners from various Clans and Families adorn the streets, and a huge crowd of thousands of People (including the Jarl and his Court) fill up the Central Plaza, where an elaborate stage has been built overnight. Everyone seems very excited about Althulius Gambles' new Musical Performance entitled "the Battle of the Floating Islands", depicting the recent Alliance victory against the Archwitch in the Primordial Forrest. Cade will be playing Randal Styles, Hero of Talaveroth and founder of the New Bard College. Saerrira Will be playing Bri Stormborn, the Wizard Queen. You may both roll your final performance check (you may once again roll cooperatively, choosing one of you as the leader to roll with advantage).
Meanwhile, by the main City Gate, 200 Granit Clan Warriors slowly gather, with 30 of them mounted on Medium size Battle Rams, clad in armor....
Rosri is coming down the stairs and sees everyone around the table. With dark bags under his eyes he greets every one and orders a large breakfast and a large coffee (or what goes for coffee in talavorth).
Edeleth looks at his friend with concern, and a twinge of guilt. "Are you feeling all right?"he asks. "You look a bit under the weather."Actually, Rosri looks like he's been up all night panicking over today's journey.

Peshley comes down to the on the morning of the festival, again wearing her finest clothes with her rapier at her side. The rest of the gear is stowed neatly in her room. She sees others already at the tables and joins them for a quick bite to eat. Not much as there is bound to be plenty of food and drink throughout the day.
"Eldeth, good to see you again. What plans for the festival?"
"Good morning, Peshley," says Edeleth. "Apart from seeing Saerirra and Cade in their performance, I have no particular plans. It should be interesting to see what else is taking place. I probably ought to spend some time in the stables, practicing harnessing the mules, though. I haven't done it completely on my own yet, and should make the attempt where there are still stablehands around to set me right."

And then it was the business with the guild.. he new he had to tell the others about it. But how would they react? If they didn’t feel about him as he did them, what then?
One thing was clear at least. He’ not the same halfling that left the Halfling Republic anymore . And in a few hours he is riding out with an army..
