Though Nigel seems absorbed in his current song and Cressida in a low-voiced but intense conversation with one of the Lizardfolk, Roc and Gavin both strain their senses to determine what so concerned the Lizardfolk. PMs with details sent.
**** me if I can figure out how to roll dice here...
OOC: While there's a built-in dice feature on the full PC website, you can also roll from your phone but you have to manually type it in by writting [*roll]@d$+#[/roll*] without the *s and where@ is the number of dice you wish to roll (usually 1), $ is the number of sides of the die, and # is whatever bonus you are supposed to add. With your above investigate roll, you would type (without any *s):
Cressida draws her longsword, with some effort in the confined space of the canoe - she ends up backhanding it, pommel at her thumb and blade faced downward. She looks to the lizardfolk she's been engaged in conversation with. "In the common tongue? What is it that we face?"

"Giant frogsss," Snapjaw explains, hand on his longsword, "Not ssstabbing froggsss, but korth enough. Flinteyesss ssshould be ready with caex."
With this pronouncement, made just loudly enough for the whole party to hear, a single loud "RRRRRRRIBIT" cuts through the silent Mere like a crash of thunder. Large forms leap from the murky depths of the river, their enormous bodies crashing next to the convoy and causing waves to buck the canoes to and fro. Everyone make a Dexterity save!

As their canoes rock violently, Cressida, Gavin, and Nigel manage to catch themselves just short of falling overboard. Roc, Snapjaw, and two of the other Lizardfolk (one from Nigel's boat and one from Gavin's) tumble into the deep river with the unexpected jolt. With prey in the water, several of the giant frogs move in for the kill!
Frog attacking Roc: 4. If hit, Roc is grappled and suffers 5 piercing damage.
Frog attacking Snapjaw: 7. If hit, Snapjsw is grappled and suffers 7 piercing damage.
The thick, muddy water clings to Roc, adding an unaccustomed weight to his movements as he scrambles to swim back from his amphibious attacker, hi feet finding no purchase in the deep water. However, Mask, the god of rogues, must be smiling upon the young hero; just as the giant frog leaps forward, mouth gaping, another frog attempts to lunge for one of the canoes. The two beasts careen off each other, neither landing anywhere close to their intended prey. In the brief confusion that follows, Roc sees an opportunity to act!
Roc may make an Athletics check to climb back into his canoe (at advantage due to help from one of the lizardfolk reaching for him) or he may attack the nearest frog, but only with a simple melee weapon (anything else would be impractical while swimming and impose disadvantage on the attack).
Snapjaw and his fellow unharmed lizardfolk, being born swimmers and accustomed to the water hazards of the Mere, manage to easily dodge their attackers by the simple expedient of diving under the water and reemerging just behind the frogs' new positions.
The unharmed lizardfolk stabs forward with a javelin and tries to bite the frog's leg! Javelin attack: 19 and 3 damage if hit. Bite attack: 19 and 3 damage if hit.
Finding himself equidistant between his canoe and the backside of one of the frogs, what does Snapjaw do?

I stare at the water and draw my bow. I hold up a finger to signal to the others and point to the water.
Gavin readies his spear and quietly whispers in draconic to one of the lizard folk in his boat
"I swear I saw something moving. What is it?"
Moving only the bare minimum necessary to form the words, the Lizardfolk hisses out, "Khuri saurivi."

Gavin realizes this term is likely a cultural slang. Given the hostile and nervous tone, it most probably describes a large and dangerous predator.
