The night starts to fall, and by now the City of the Three Peaks is beyond your eyesight, hidden way up above the clouds, on top of the Mountains. You truly start feeling far from Civilization...
With a 20 on his Survival check, Laeaivis finds a perfect spot: a small cave, naturally carved in the face of a cliff, just big enough to fit all of the characters and their mounts.
The entrance to the cave is half-concealed by a very small waterfall, trickling along the face of the cliff, and ending in a little stream of water, snaking South.
The Pine Trees dotting the landscape also provide ample protection from the icy wind.
With a 16 on his Survival, Uther finds foot tracks around the cave and the surrounding area. About 5 different sets...They are a couple of days old, and seem to lead North from the cave....
The Cave itself is about 40 feet wide. It is basically a small hole in the Mountain, and doesnt lead into anything else. Inside, you find a small campsite, littered with bones...Dwarven Bones.
The dirt floor is stained with dry blood, and you find a few trinkets here in there: a teddy bear, a small hammer, a stone hairpin, and a small coinpurse containing 35 Gp
Peshley is the only one who failed her Con Save. As she reaches the cave, she cannot feel her hands and feet, and tiny icicles are sprouting out of her nose. She is shivering, and covered in snow...
Peshley rides forward into the cold. The weather rolling in made it difficult for her hawk to stay aloft, so she called it back to ride with her, perched on her backpack. She was looking forward to finally setting up camp and getting out of the cold.
As Uther sees the tracks he bends down touches them with his and then looks up, "There are Hyenas out here, we should have someone stand guard as a precaution. I can take the first shift"
Uther investigates the area, incase they've missed anything valuable. 8 Then sits out side the tent area.

Cade says to Uther while walking towards his tent, "Baron and I will take the second shift I need a time to do some thinking let know when you are ready for me to take over. Oh...I'm sorry Laievis I didn't see you there we can take the third shift then it will just give me more time." (That's when Cade will clean his armor) Once it is his and Baron's turn to stand watch Cade makes sure he keeps a look out. He finds a small hammer and decides to pick it up, "This could come in handy.",but his mind wanders thinking about battles that involved Gnolls...though he doesn't know much about them he may remember a battle that involved them in the past. (History check already confirmed by DM). Still thinking he decides, "I'll tell the rest of them in the morning what I know so that we are prepared for when we go to Turniptown."
OOC: Sorry BlueBayou didn't see your post before lol. Reason for edit.

(If nobody else wants them, I will pick up the teddy bear and stone hairpin, leaving the small hammer. We can split the 35gp, 7 each, which I will collect my share of as well.)
Saerirra is unnerved at the sight of the bones. She says a silent prayer for their souls to be at peace, wherever they are. She helps get the mounts inside and secured as needed. Otherwise, she will spend the night in the tent with Peshley as described before.
(May not be necessary, since other are likely to cover the watch, but just in case, i will roll a perception check here, just to save a little time, perception roll: Nat 1, total of 5, so it didn't matter anyway. lol)
OOC: I was under the impression the things in the cave were found by Uther...if not I'll take the hammer. Being a small character and it being small you never know when something will come in handy. I'll make an edit in my other post.

- A toy, hair decoration and a hummer... It could be a family, attacked by gnolls, who left remains to hyenas. Not sure who lives - or lived in Turniptown, but there is a chance relatives of the family are somewhere around and could recognize the items. Any way, we should not leave bones like that.
He tried to collect all the bones in a sack, in hope to leave in the first temple they come across for burial ritual.
After a few hours of standing watch Uther wakes Laievis up, then takes of his armour and cloths (Uther sleeps in the nude) slips into his sleeping bag and sleeps for the rest of the night.
When it was time for Laievis to change Uther on his post, he stopped the half-orc to ask a question:
- I am not familiar with this land, but I always thought hyenas are creature of the south. Can these tracks belong to someone else? Probably gnolls themselves?

In Talaveroth, Hyenas are indeed creatures of the South, and most recently the Westwoods.
Cade, thanks to his History check earlier knows that Gnoll Warbands do like to employ packs of trained Hyenas to scout out the land, and prey on weak targets...
Saerirra would search the area immediately outside the cave, say 30ft or so, for any other objects that might have been left behind by whoever or whatever was here.
Peshley woke up with a start. It was a little early for her watch but something had come to mind. "Why didn't I think of that earlier,"she mutters to herself. Looking around she sees Laievis on duty. "You wouldn't happen to have any string, would you? Rope would do at a stretch. I had an idea."
If they have string/rope she will place it across the path leading up to the cave, then using a glyph of storing, she will cast prestidigitation. She will set it to make a small chirping noise if the string/rope gets disturbed.
If they don't have string/rope, Peshley will do the same thing, but with a rock that she will place in a section of the path that is most likely to be walked through.
"I don't think I am going back to sleep now, so I may as well stay up and keep you company," she says, settling in with her back against the wall and wand in hand.

Oh, and anyone who failed their CON save takes 3 points of Frost Damage, which they can regain by taking a long rest
Also, Uther, those tracks look eerily similar to Hyena paws 🐾 🐾
(But who failed it?)

- I can be second, - volunteered Laievis. - As terrible as it looks I think we need to stay in the cave. Peshley, let me help you with your hands.
