The bed roll rustles as two arms throw it aside. Roscoe lets out a yawn while he stretches and rises. He goes about his normal routine getting his gear back into his pack and his axes on his hip and back. There was quite the commotion going on outside his room and Roscoe didn't want to miss out. He opens his door and surveys the scene. He's surprised to see others so lively this early in the morning and it didn't take him long to discover why.
Though the halfling came from a tribe that focused so heavily on creatures of the wilderness, Roscoe had yet to really develop the skills needed for animal husbandry. As Roscoe nears, the dog takes an excited bounce toward him and there is a moment of fear in the hafling's eyes that quickly dissipates as the beast's tongue licks across his face. "Good morning to yous as well noble creature." Roscoe attempts to pat the dog on the head to form a bond and hoping the pup stays put for a moment. The best he can, he attempts to look over the dog to figure out where it came from and who it may belong to.
If Roscoe sees the necklace with the scroll case, he'll do his best to befriend the pup enough to take the necklace off. If that doesn't work, he'll begin chasing the dog around trying to wrestle the item off of it.

Edeleth folded his arms over his chest, leaned against the doorframe, and watched the circus going on. If the dog had seemed unduly upset, he would have stepped in and attempted to put a stop to it, but the beast seemed to view Roscoe and Grunda's attempts as a sort of game. And frankly, it was very entertaining to watch.
At any rate, Edeleth rarely cast Speak with Animals on domestic creatures, because it was unsettling to wonder if you had ever had a friendly conversation with your breakfast sausage. Dogs were generally safer to talk to than livestock, though. At least, in some regions.

Despite everyone's efforts to befriend the dog, it doesn't seem too keen to reciprocate... It keeps shying away from all of you, wagging its tail. After a few minutes, Roscoe's primal instincts kick in, and the savage Halfling leaps after the dog, chasing it all over the tavern, knocking down random plates and cups as they jump over tables and offended patrons. Roscoe finally dives over a chair and falls to the ground, sliding across the freshly waxed dining room floor, holding the dog in his little arms.
The dog now seems a lot friendlier, and is licking Roscoe's face. You finally open the scroll case attached to his collar, and find a blood stained note in it:
"Help! My name is Tarden Barth, and I am but a humble farmer from Oakfields, a small village about fourty miles south of the Three Peaks. Our village was raided by Gnolls! They killed many of us, and ate the corpses...but a few of us remain captive, held prisonners in a cave about half a mile west of our village. Please, if anyone finds this note, it is only a matter of days before these Gnolls eat us too...Hurry, in the name of Meryn!"
"Forty miles?" said Edeleth. "There's no knowing how long it took the dog to get here. We don't have a moment to lose."
He wonders if they could borrow some horses on the strength of their reputations. Or if it is worth trying to requisition mounts for the party and bill them to the crown of Lomalos. After losing three mounts to thieves, Edeleth feels fairly certain that a royal letter from King Celairatar is chasing him around Talaveroth, and that it contains the words, "Edeleth, I am not paying for any more cursed horses!"
On the other hand, he has doubts all his companions can ride...

As the dog begins showing it's affection, Roscoe smiles with pure joy. He forgets about the note and spends his time petting the dog and playfully tussling with it.
When the others read the letter aloud, he regains his composure and checks to make sure all of his gear is intact. He agrees with the others that there isn't any time to waste. " We should gets going, eh?" He motions to the dog suggesting that it should join them on the journey to back to where the gnolls are.
CStanding by the window, Rosri watch as Roscoe flys across the room while giving chase to the dog and finally caching it. The large giantess seem a little disappointed that the dog didn’t cone to her.
Upon hearing the note he pails considerably. Time was of the essence, but could he really do it? Him? Really? But he knew that he had no choice. The adventure had finally found him. Weirdly enough there was a feeling of excitement bubbling up from somewhere underneath the fear.
The chance of the villagers still being alive was small and if they where to make it they would need horses. He silently thanked his father for forcing him to learn to ride. “Every man should know how to ride, son. You never know when you need to travel, and with our short legs, walking fakes forever.” He had said. So horses might be one of a few animals that Rosri was slightly less afraid of. And luckily he has his own horse with him in the stable. Butterscotch was a small brown spotted mare.
”We-we have to go, don’t we?” He asked Edeleth worriedly. “But how do we get there? I have a hores, but I don’t think we can all fit on her..”
Chiming in, Zyman added: “Sorry you all, but that would be my first time riding a horse, any chance we could go for a cart instead?”
Anyone paying close attention might notice him already sketching a small map of the kingdom into his notebook, trying to determine the fastest way to get there.
