Necria closes as much of any remaining distance between herself and the kobold as she can, leveling her javelin at him.
“I serve Luthic, the Healer,” she says in her booming, magically enhanced voice, “and you would do well to state what ‘busy-ness’ you have in this place, lest I become impatient with your questions and cause ill to befall you!”
She again intones an incantation, casting thaumaturgy and causing the sound of a growling cave bear to originate from the forest just behind the kobold.
The Kobold coughs up a thin, nervous laugh. "At's all right, then," he grins. "I's takin' my chances, I is...got bigger stirges to fry." With a flick of his tail, he whips around and bolts off. (He's about 70 feet from Necria).
Drueze recognizes the vial as a potion of healing.
"Let him go." Drueze looks back from the fleeing Kobold to the group. "Healing potion, that's it. Guess I was distracted by the blade. Yall hold onto this. "
Drueze hands over the vial and dagger(if no one takes the blade he will tuck it away in his belt). Turning back to the way they had been traveling "shall we continue? "
Judging the distance too far to close before the kobold gets away, Necria slackens her pace a little and proceeds cautiously to approach his location, watching, as he departs, to see where he goes and to confirm he has left the vicinity.
After that, she rejoins the rest of the party. “He’s hiding something,” she says, receiving the silver from Drueze, “but whatever it is, he’s more afraid of his master than he is of us.”
”These coins will be sacrificed to my goddess,” she says smilingly, placing them into an alms box she retrieves from her backpack.
“I agree, we should continue to follow the trail of the sheep thieves, but we should proceed carefully,” she says. “If that kobold is connected, he may alert the thieves to our presence, and we may find an ambush waiting for us.”
Necria follows immediately behind whichever party member is tracking and continues to keep watch as they travel.
Drueze hands over the blade. "For the sake of wisdom and knowledge let me know what you know of it" and he proceeds to walk with the group.
ooc tomorrow CST I've continuing education from 7 to 7. I'll try to check at lunch but with driving there and back my morning poop may be my only look at this.
Jharn's inspection of the dagger reveals it to be likely nonmagical, but not of usual origin. It might be made by or for dragons.
As the adventurers continue on the trail, the woods slide into swamp. The Festerfens. Soupy fog rolls through thick air, and the green-crusted muck is knee deep, and sometimes deeper. A smell like dung chokes the travelers' nostrils, and the only sounds are the whisper of reeds, punctuated by the occasional bubble and splash of creatures unseen.
As Drueze slows, the trail fading, a huge black maw looms from the fog...the mouth of a cave, an island in the swamp.
What do you do? Can I also get a Perception check from Necria?
“It seems we have come to someone’s home,” Necria whispers to her companions, regarding the rune engraved on her shield reflectively. “Perhaps the farmer’s sheep are within.”
She moves as if to approach the entrance, but waits for the other party members to join her.
Belleres will peer around. They know the area and are an experienced tracker. They will look for evidence of footprints near the cave entrance to try to see what manner of creature uses the cave. They are also watching out for danger.
While the group prepares for its next move, Necria has an idea. "Jharn, do you mind if I have a look at that dagger?” She draws upon her familiarity with humanoid cult worship to see if she can determine whether the dagger is a ritual object of some kind.
“Look at me,” she whispers to Drueze, “I’m all for going in slowly and cautiously, but I’m not built for sneaking and hiding. Any plan that relies on me doing that isn’t going to come off very well. Maybe you and perhaps Jharn would like to scout ahead and see what you can see? I’d hate to give you away with all my lumbering and clanging.”
Jharn hands the knife over to Necria to inspect. "Belleres seems to have found the trail, so they will need to take the lead, but it would be wise to have extra eyes out. Especially if they are all as quick as that one."She indicates the direction the kobold had scurried off in. "Drueze, why dont you and Belleres take the lead and I will carry on here with Necria?"
Presuming Belleres' perception check reveals no danger, they will proceed towards the cavern mouth, after sharing what they can guess from the footprints. They have their druid staff in their hands.
Stealth 13
If Belleres perceives danger they will hold up their hand to stop the others entering and whisper a warning. They will use druidcraft to summon a wind that flows from out of the cave towards the party and seems to carry the noise of their whisper away, so that only the party can hear it.
As Belleres, with Drueze behind them, sneaks through the mud to the cave entrance, they hear squeaky voices from within the cave. "At's right, adventurers, 'eaded our way," says one. "I seen 'em." "Fresh meat, more like," hisses another, "an' a good thing too. We'd runnin' out o' sheeps, we is, an' the boss won't be 'appy 'bout that." As they risk just one more step, Belleres strains to peer into the dark...and makes out half a dozen kobolds, armed with crooked blades, lolling about on rotten crates and barrels.
The sound of Belleres' warning drifts back to Necria and Jharn...

Necria hears Belleres’s warning and turns to Jharn. “It appears there’s something dangerous within the cave. I propose we get as close to our friends as possible without alerting the inhabitants,” she says.
Staying alert for danger all around, she moves as quietly as she can towards Belleres and Drueze but doesn’t come closer than 60 feet from the cave mouth.
Edit: Maybe I’m using the die roller incorrectly. My Dexterity modifier is -2, so assuming I rolled a 20 (as green would indicate), my result should be 18.
Nodding in response to Necria’s comment, Jharn takes a moment to expel the light coming from her rapier. She then stalks as quietly as she can toward the entrance. She goes to toward the opposite side of the entrance to Drueze and listens for any further noises.
