I'll start walking out grumbling the whole time, walk right past the kobold. If it is unbound and comes through my reach, attack of opportunity. Otherwise head back to the farmer and warn him there could still be kobold in the area.
“Now, what are we going to do with you?”Jharn loosens the ropes enough to allow the Kobold to its feet and helps it to stand up. “There’s nothing for you here now, and for your safety I think you may need to come with us.”She indicates for the goblin to walk with her toward the entrance.
“You’d better go,” Necria says to the kobold after she has untied him. “That elf wants you dead if the farmer won’t agree to keep you. The dragon is dead. Your fate is now your own. Live as you will, but try not to get into any more mischief, alright?”
Jharn will escort the kobold out of the cave let it go and then continue on to meet up with Helberd. If the kobold follows then I will watch over it. If not I will note the direction it leaves in and pass this info over to the farmer.
"Awight," squeaks the kobold, tail between his legs. "You must be awful stwong to beat the boss like 'at. Thanks for not killing' me." With an awkward bow, he scuttles off north, deeper into the Festerfens.
The sun is shining, and the mist that cloaked the land earlier seems to have dissipated, leaving a clear view of the sky, blue and sunny, between the gnarled swamp trees. The smell of autumn floats on the breeze. Is everyone ready to head back to the farm?
Also, at my wife's grandfather's house for the weekend. Insurance finally came through for Hurricane Harvey and we're doing a work weekend. Minimal availability until Monday, but I think I've established my monk enough to carry on. I love his agression vs. the hesitation and almost timidness of my orc fighter.
Belleres will walk with a lighter heart, happy that the balance has been restored
OOC -- same for the next few days. I'll be driving 2000km between Monday and Wednesday, so I'll be checking a couple of times a day but not as regularly as normal.
Necria feels the most equitable solution has been achieved for everyone involved. “Except for those we had to kill, of course,” she says while returning the way they came. “Perhaps one day I’ll return and consecrate that cave to the Healer, but first I’ll need to clear out those cobwebs!”
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Perception on the way back 11 self imposed disadvantage because Drueze is still mumbling to himself about letting the Kobold go.
(ooc we finished the work at my wife's grandfather's place and I took my brother in law saltwater fishing for the first time and we were able to get him on some decent fish, plus enough crabs for a boil)
The sky is clear and sunny, and the return journey peaceful, the silence broken only by birdsong and skittering leaves. Autumn smells hang on the edges of a breeze as the adventurers return to Farmer Heldred Gest's harlequin scarecrow and golden cornfield. The farmer himself is loading hay bales into a wagon when they arrive.
"Well met," he growls, weathered face cracking a smile. "I was half thinking you wouldn't come back." He rubs his grizzled beard. "Is that a dragon's head? Looks like you've got some tales to tell."
"Yes." Drueze walks over and places the head at his feet and sits. "A trophy for your home. True was Kobold attacking, but at the command of this beast. All but 1 kobold are dead, that one was spared and may still be in the area it is alone and may soon be hungry and scared. Be alert. We bring gold and silver from the dragon as restitution for the sheep and hopefully enough to improve your fences and hire a night shepherd. "
He will also tell where the cave was located and the basics of the layout and dangers before closing his eyes as if meditating...but really just pouting
"Be happy to." Heldred's stony eyes glint with unexpected happiness. "Can't thank you enough, really I can't." He reaches out for a leathery handshake. "Hope I'll be seeing you all about."
The sun shimmers on the golden corn.
A week later, all is well with the land. Heldred's crops sell well at the autumn fair, and his dragon's head is the envy of all his friends. The Festerfens have grown less foggy and dangerous, and a lone kobold trapper has appeared in town, hawking furs. The crisp breeze, with its carmel-apple smell and skittering orange leaves, promises a beautiful fall.
With that, I think we've reached the end of our adventure! Please give us:
--Any parting words to Heldred
--Where we might see your character a week later at the autumn fair
Drueze will go back to the monastery hoping to hone his skills and his patience. At the fair he spends most of his time tailing the kobold to be sure it's on the up and up.
“Stop pouting, Drueze,” says Necria chidingly. “I don’t know what it is with you and kobolds, but you’ve got to stop!”
Necria prepares to journey to her home temple for the midwinter sacrifice, where the gold and silver she won will become a tribute of faith for all to see.
Belleres will return to their solitude in the woods, but will come back into town for the autumn fair. They will bring dried herbs and animal skins to sell; and will replace their threadbare boots.

What would each of you like to tell him?

And I think that's it! Thanks so much for playing, I hope you enjoyed the game!

Jharn has a store in town so she is going to create a display behind the counter to celebrate her adventure.
OOC: great job as dm. Thanks for the adventure. Was a good to get familiar with pbp.

Thank you Naivara and everyone else! That was quite an adventure!
