"Jus' a few more turns," squeaks the kobold. "Ere's no more traps, nothing." His stumpy tail curls between his legs. "I'm not goin' down 'ere when you find it...I don't wanna get eaten." His goggly eyes go saucer wide. "Awright, please?"
Jharn looks at the others trying to piece together the best option.
“Now, we can’t just let you go. You could go running and warn somebody. Taking you could be just as bad as a yell at the wrong time could again let what’s ahead of us know we’re here. I say we bind you up right here and when we deal with whatever’s ahead of us we can then let you go...since you’ve been so helpful.”
Belleres misses the tone of "tell us all you know," that they were aiming for and ends up sounding like they naively believe the kobold has already told them everything.
“We die, you die. Sounds like a fair proposition to me,” Necria says, securing the kobold’s bindings and lowering him into the pit. “If we don’t come back, consider it punishment for having tried to kill us when we only came to talk with you.”
”Let’s move on,” she says to her comrades. Necria will walk in the front rank, her javelin at the ready, watching out for hidden threats as they travel down the tunnel at a slow pace, staying as quiet as she can.
Jharn follows behind Necria, her rapier at the ready. As she walks she quietly sings a song hoping to inspire Necria that they not get caught unaware again.
🎶 The night is dark but the stars above light your path. You may be far from me but your feet know the way home to my hearth 🎶 The journey home may seem long, but your soul will be guided to me by this song 🎶
The tunnel twists and turns, its damp walls, now caked in black fungus, echoing with the drip of water. After a hundred or so feet, it opens into a small, domed cave choked by the stench of rot. Besides the way the heroes came in, two ways remain: a cobwebbed cranny in the wall leading back toward the entrance, and a dank hole, sloping walls full of mushrooms and roots, leading ten feet down. Over it hangs a warped wooden sign, on which the kobolds' have written in crooked letters "FOOD FER THA BOZZ" with an arrow pointing down. The adventurers' light dances on the surface of an oily, scum-covered pond below, though the water looks only a foot deep.
"I can cast light on a rock and drop it down there. At least we can get a clearer look."Jharn has a look around for a suitably sized rock, about the size of her fist, that she could use.
“Rather than announce our presence by dropping a glowing rock into the monster’s lair,” Necria says, “perhaps if there’s any of that oil left, letting it spread across the water and igniting it by dropping in a torch might encourage the beast to emerge.”
"I have one bottle of oil on me, if you think that's the way we should go. This sign though makes me think that whatever is down below doesn't actually come up here."
“If the kobold is to be believed,” Necria says, “the dragon has free reign of these caves and isn’t a captive. We may find that things are otherwise upon closer investigation, but I would risk the oil rather than fight the creature in its dank lair. The call is yours. If everyone thinks it would be better to take a look first, I will descend.”
Necria waits for a response from the rest of the party.
Belleres does notice a few scratches on the rim of the hole that appear to be clawmarks.
Drueze slips on a patch of fungus, sending a rattle of pebbles down the hole and splashing into the pool. The sound of rippling water continues a little longer than it should...
Necria asks the kobold, “How far until we reach the dragon, and is there anything else we should know about before we get there?”
Drueze, feeling better gets up. "Yes, we need to be moving and I suggest you be more forthcoming. "

P.S. We've been playing for one month now. :-)

"Awight, awight," squeaks the kobold, "but you better not die. I don't wanna die 'at way."
Wizard (Gandalf) of the Tolkien Club
"That would be a pretty nasty way to die," Belleres will agree, with a feral smile. "But luckily we will have lots of reliable info to help us win."
With that said, Belleres will give the kobold a friendly pat on the shoulder.

Belleres will look about for any sign of a large creature living there.

OOC not sure what that means. Going to try again.

"The oil sounds like a good idea." Belleres will say. "I can ignite it from here."
OOC-- presume this will be possible with druidcraft?
Jharn pulls the oil from her pouch and hands it over to Necria to throw down the hole.
