The half-elf comes back to your table with a small notebook and gestures to one of the plates on the neighbouring table. "A pollack, my friend is a most delicious fish. I highly recommend it, Master M came up with quite the recipe." He dips a quill in a small vial stuck in a pocket on the front of his shirt and holds it up against the notepad. "Right. So what is everyone having today? Would you perhaps like some drinks for starters?"
Ravi walks to the bar, setting his pack on the ground and his black hammer on the counter. Whoever the bartender turns out to be, he'll order a bottle of red and pour half a mug for himself.
The bartender, a pitch black tabaxi with half-glazed over bright yellow eyes is currently the copper bands on a wooden mug, he turns to you and it seems as if he is looking right through you. "Be greeted, friend. We are Mejin Moons-for-eyes and we are the owner of M.O.U.S.E. We are pleased to pour you a drink if you would like one. How you say.. pick your poison?." A brown and grey tabby cat leaps onto your lap. "We are sorry for the inconvenience if you have allergies, but our cats helps us see." He places the puts the mug down on a shelf behind him and awaits your answer.
Mejin:
Meanwhile back at the table the half elf takes down The Cycles order. "What would you like to drink with the fish, master lizard?"

Ravi waves away the allergy comment as if to say 'no worries there'. He scratches the fuzzball's chin and orders his wine.
"It seems a diverse people here in New Oyjan," he says after taking a drink. "If you'll forgive my saying so, I can't recall when I last met a tabaxi. Have you been here long, Mejin?"
Mejin uncorks a bottle of red wine with a strong spiced smell to it and puts it in front of you with a mug at its side. "We and many others have been here since the right after the melting. Adventure is tempting no matter your kin so this is why our new home is very diverse. We heard of adventure and our company came sailing with us here." He gestures to the band on stage. "Then we met the other first people here and made deals. Mejin ended up with tavern and foods. We like this, cause we come from a rich culture back home and sorely wants to share with others our dear Pexia." He pours a bowl of milk for the cat and puts it on the table in front of you. The cat leaps up to the bar and starts drinking. "Our establishment is adequate, no?"

"Hmm, forgive my delay. At such recommended establishment, it is good to consider carefully. I think, however, for me as well, the goat. And beer. Very important, the beer." He gives Meijin a broad smile.

"Aye, more than adequate, Master Moons-for-eyes. You run a tight ship." Ravi raises his mug. "To the MOUSE."
(ooc: What I want to do is the cliche RPG thing and ask, "So, have you had any trouble lately?" But that seems like a weird thing to say to someone you've just met. Can we assume a natural opening to inquire as to what has been happening in/around New Oyjan?)
The half-elf takes the last of your orders and quickly disappears back into the kitchen, probably to relay the information to a chef. About a minute later he comes back with a pitcher of water and two empty dark green glasses and two tankards of a light, fruitier beer. "Food will be with you as soon as it's ready."
As Ravi calls him Master Moons-for-eyes Mejin wrinkles his nose a little. "Please do not call us Moons-for-eyes. Only reminds us of our.. disability, though it is our name and we are proud of our upbrining we prefer Mejin or simply M." He dips a claw in the cats milk and lets a drop of milk fall onto his tongue. "To MOUSE." He leans over the bar just a little and his ears stand straight up. "Now it is time for our question. You are new on the island no? How are you planning to.. how they say.. bring home the bacon? We only want to know because of your growing tab." He smiles and taps a claw on Ravis wine bottle.

Ruby slides her tankard closer to her, and eyes the liquid inside it with interest. Having lived as a coinless street urchin for most of her childhood, she had never been given the opportunity to drink something as grand as beer or wine before, as other children her age might have done at dinner with their parents. She felt she had earned it though. Ruby raises the tankard to her lips and tries to drink the beer, but ingests only the frothy head, causing her to choke and splutter. Turning red again, she wipes her mouth and clothes, before taking a proper drink. With a frothy mustache on her top lip, she smiles for the first time since she left the ship.
Gunnar concernedly watches the child drink, but, deciding it’s none of his business, he simply sips his free water. “So... uh... kid. You said you’re here looking for your brother, right? What exactly is that about?”

The smile instantly vanishes from Ruby's face. She looks down into her tankard, takes a longer drink than before, and looks up again. "I never said I was looking for him Mister Gunnar... he's dead."
She pauses for a moment to collect her thoughts, and continues. "We were beggars back on the mainland. My brother always looked out for us, but we were kidnapped by people in strange robes, who kept mentioning a mana-eating void, and how they would sacrifice us to it. They took us to a room somewhere, tied us down on stone blocks, and..." Ruby doesn't finish the sentence, but instead brings out an ornately-carved wand from inside her overcoat, which pulses with energy as she grips it, her eyes shut tight. The energy eventually reduces to a faint glow, and then disappears all together. Ruby open her eyes, looking relieved at the outcome. "I killed them all, I couldn't control it. The one doing the sacrificing had this wand, and the gold we made the droplets with, so I took them from his body and ran."
"The ship we came here on was the first one I saw at the docks, so... I'm a stowaway. None of these things are mine, but I have nothing else, so can you keep it a secret please?"
Gunnar’s eyes just sit wide for a moment, face unmoving. He slowly looks off to a wall in a very “Holy cow...” expression and takes a long sip of water. As he finishes, he clears his throat, “Well... sure, kid. I, uh, won’t say a word.” He points to the kid’s tankard without looking, “Missed some, you’re gonnaneed it.”
As you are having your conversation at the table the band finishes their set and takes a bow before heading what could only be "back stage". One of the tan elves starts walking from table to table with an empty copper mug in one hand and a maroon bag decorated in small passages of writing done in silver thread. After visiting four other tables he comes to the one where you are sitting. "Would you like to make a contribution to the band? We take drops in the cup or other contributions in the bag. You give up something fun you might get invited to the party when we're done with our final set." He shakes the cup and bag once and smiles at you.
