(The Young Bucks Tavern in the town of Calla is a place like many others. On this early evening, the Tavern is only about half full of your usual tradesmen, farmers and assorted other townspeople. Everyone is drinking and eating and generally having a good time. A young Half-Elf serving boy, Jack, floats around bringing everyone their food and ale.
The door opens and a young Human Woman enters. She appears to be a Cleric of some sort, wearing heavy armor, a Mace and Shield across her back. The woman looks around, finds what she is looking for and walks over to the table where a motley crew of adventurers sit, staring at her intently as she silently pulls up a chair and takes a seat. The table has a sign on it that reads ‘1st time adventurers meet here’.)
"Ah, splendid! It looks like you all made it!"
(The tavern owner, a rotund and jolly-looking fellow of about 40, appears at the side of the table, smiling and holding what appears to be an envelope.)
"My name is Willfred, I am the owner of this fine establishment. Glad you all could make it. Your mutual friend has asked me to read this to you when you all arrived."
(He now opens it and takes out the enclosed letter. Unfolding it, he begins to read.)
It is I, Craig, your friendly neighborhood shop keeper! You are all here because you all expressed interest in teaming up with other like-minded folks and going on adventures. I had all of your names on my LIST and I think all of you would be a good fit together. I hope I am correct. Take some time to get to know each other; I’m sure you’ll all become fast friends. Go forth and make your mark on the world!
Best of Luck!
(The assembled adventurers look around the table at each other. Willfred takes a little bow as he backs away.)
"Oh, this IS a good-looking group. You'll do well, very well indeed. Please let me know if I can be of any assistance to you."
(The crew looks each other over and sits for a few moments, until one of them rises up and begins to speak...)
DM's Notes: Ok, folks, go ahead and introduce your character to each other and give a brief description about your appearance, etc. No need to give your whole backstory, just introduce your character as they would introduce themselves. Looking forward to this! :)
(I rise up, fiddling with a knife, trying not to have an anxiety attack. I'm not sure how much they can see under the hood, but they sure can see a 5 feet tall female elf, with a slim body, wearing some dirty, dusty and shreded on the edges black clothes, some daggers hiding behind the cloack. Black and silky short hair can be seen poking out of my hood, my face with a blank expression yet calm, beautiful hazel eyes, empty yet full of sorrow, i introduce myself.)
Hello, my name is Silental, I am a wood elf, a rogue, you can also call me thief. I am 200 years old. I'll be the first to introduce myself so we can get things straight.
I'll be honest, i do not trust you yet, maybe i never will, trust is not to be given, it's to be earned. Craig seems to think that we will make a good group and i trust his words, so i will give you a generous chance. I search for freedom and redemption, and as much as i hate to admit, im way too atracted to gold and valuables.
My goals are not ones to go on adventures, but it seems one wouldn't do me harm, i've been too obcessed with these goals of mine.
I do not ask to be friends nor to trust, all i ask is that we get along and go forth.
(i take a deep breath beucase my anxiety is starting to fade. I look at the human woman with sad eyes.)
It seems most of us are elfs so i guess a human will make things more interesting.
I really hope we can get along.
(As i sit down and give someone else a turn to speak, i whisper:)
Alistar looked around carefully. He was a tall one for sure, around 6'2, he had white hair and a pale complexion to go with that. He had bright browns eyes that surprisingly wasnt a bad contrast with his hair and skin. He wore simple but nice clothes, something to keep him warm but not to over heat him. He had a small pouch that held his money that hooked onto a belt, and a bigger bag with some necessities. A light crossbow on his back with a dagger at his side.
"Hello, my name is Alistar Crest," he breathed out. It had been awhile he had been in a group, "Im not new to being in a group, my old one broke up so I decided to hopefully be able to join a new one. I hope we can all get alone nicely, even if we dont exactly trust eachother right away." he said and closed his eyes for just a moment, "I guess my goals are to move on from my past, and hopefully find a better place." he said. He moved in his seat and relaxed a bit. Everyone here seemed to be okay so far.
He sighed a bit, he'd better wrap this up, "If im going to be honest, im not much of a fighter, and im just getting used to magic and trying to learn it, but I've been able to map things out and keep track of everything," he said, finishing up.
She looked over the rag tag group, her confidence flicking like a small ember briefly as she stood up awkwardly. Her form only stood at 5’6” with pale blue hair that was nestled behind her ears and fell to the mid of her back. Her clothes were basic in nature, nothing that would ever stand out.
She fumbled her words slightly, “I am called Mialee. My goal is to practice my craft while on these adventures I read about.”
She he stood several seconds longer as eyes peered back at her, a silence of expectation still before her. She sat back down sheepishly as her moment had passed.
Pandora was all too eager to take her seat among her fellow newbie adventurers, listening to Wilfred and offering him a kind smile as he noted how the group was very 'good-looking' before watching the others stand and introduce themselves. She didn't immediately get the vibe that the group was a very chatty one. Silental was very blunt and honest, even if a little nervous. Pandora could respect honesty, and merely offered a little nod and smile when the woman made the comment of her race, and how it should make matters more interesting, before she sat down and the man spoke up. Alistar Crest. He was a tall one! But he seemed frail. Immediately, she pegged him as some kind of magic-user, and quickly learned she was correct, but she didn't mind it. Then there was Mialee. Pandora literally had to resist the urge to stand and fawn over the small woman, but she refrained, remaining calmly seated until it seemed to be her turn to introduce herself.
"It's a pleasure to meet you all," She began, standing gently to her full height of 5'10". Well, as gently as a woman decked out in chain-mail armor could manage, with her shield and strapped to her back and a handaxe strapped to her side. Her hair was long and black, tied into low pigtails with red and white cloth - the same clothe that decorated her armor. Her eyes were large and dark in color as well, but held a tender, careful light as she regarded each of her new comrades with a nod in the direction of each to acknowledge them all properly.
"My name is Pandora. I've never actually been on an adventure before... I've lived in a temple my whole life, actually, and would have been just as happy to remain there. However, it was the wish of my teacher that I go out and see the world and learn as much as I can from other individuals, which has brought me here, to you all." Politely, she gave a little bow of her head. "I hope that we each meet our goals, and become great friends along the way!" She finished with a hopeful tone, flashing her new allies a smile before carefully seating herself once again.
DMs note: Ok, sorry, but Little_annoying didn't follow thru so she's out. It'll just be the 4 of you.
(Willfred comes back to the table with Jack in tow, who is carrying a round of ale for you all. Jack serves you all your drinks as Willfred looks on, a smile on his face.)
"On the house, of course."
(The Tavern owner looks you all over appreciatively.)
"Well, it looks like Master Craig has done it again."
(He sees you all looking at him, and senses he may have spoken out of turn.)
"I mean, of course, that lots of adventuring parties have found each other thru Craig's list. He's very good at making matches. Forgive me for being so bold, but I think he's done well bringing you 4 together. Very interesting, very interesting indeed. I mean, you have not one, but TWO Elven ladies (he motions to Mialee and Silental) who look cunning and shady, in the best way, of course. Very dangerous. This tall spellcaster here (he points at Alistar) who looks like he could rain down some powerful magic. And this strong, holy warrior (he motions to Pandora) who can keep you all safe with her strong defenses."
(Willfred clears his throat.)
"Well, enough about that. Please enjoy your ale, and let me know if I can help in any way."
(Willfred and Jack back off and let you all get to know each other. The ale loosens you up somewhat, and you slowly start to get used to each other. Mostly. About 45 minutes or so pass along this way, when...
Suddenly, a large, red-headed man in a black leather apron bursts thru the door, his muscular arms bleeding from some pretty gnarly gashes. A look of panic and terror is on his face, which is dirty and starting to swell up and bruise. He looks like someone beat the hell out of him.
“Bess!” he yells. “They got my Bess!”
He drops down to his knees and starts sobbing as the crowd starts to gather round.
//little annoying got cocked by her parents. She tried really hard to come but in the end she wasn't able to. She gave her most humble apologies for letting you down.//
(As we were chating, getting to know each other, my anxiety was pratically gone, i was distracted. Suddenly a man bursts thru the door screaming, covered in what i guess was blood. My anxiety spikes, my heart beating faster and faster, my vision blurry, i give a little jump as my hands start shaking more than usual. I hear him saying something about someone getting his bess? I couldn't hear much, i was burried in my own thoughts, could only hear my heart beating. I hide my shaking hands beneath my cloack and i hide my face in my hood, trying not to be seen in this state by the others.)
(i talk to myself) Calm down, Silental, calm down. Deep breaths. Hush.
(I manage to calm down and when i look back at the man, i see a crowd starting to gather. I look at the others and they seem to be curious and startled as well by the sudden man just bursting thru the door screaming.)
- Well then... (i say looking at the others, mostly at Pandora.) Guess we got ourselfs an adventure... Should we... (i hesitate a bit) Should we join the crowd...? (I say this grabing my pants, hands shaking. I hate crowds. There's no space, eveyone on top of each other, pushing and touching, the thought of it made me anxious, but as always i tried my best to keep calm.)
(I remember the man saying something about his bess... Who is bess? His loved one perhaps? I know the feeling of losing someone you love, and this made me a little bit less anxious, yet a little bit more sad. I will do what i can for this man, but as always i won't trust him untill he proves it.)
(talking to myself) Oh my angel, what have i gotten myself into... I hope this man is telling the truth, because if this "bess" really is someone he loves, it would be devastating to lose her. I won't let it happen... again.
(I close my eyes for a bit, waiting for an answer from the others.)

Alistar was chatting with the group, he had been in groups before and normally people werent very hard to trust by how much time he had been in one. He didnt exactly trust these people already but he trusted them enough to know he can and will work with them. He looked over once the man came tumbling in, he blinked a bit in confusion before going over to the crowd. He looked back at his new group, "Lets see whats going on?" he asked.
He normally did try to his best skills to help people, he went over and watched the guy for a moment before speaking, "Hey, are you okay?" he asked moving down a bit so he wasnt just towering over him. He felt bad for the guy, he hoped that he could somehow help.
Pandora relaxed further as the group began to chat back and forth, politely declining any alcohol that had been offered to her and instead asking for water. Though to be honest, she had never been nervous to begin with. It took quite a bit to visibly spook the young woman, who generally was more than capable of keeping her nerves in check. This remained true as the front doors were flung open and in came a man screaming his head off about someone named Bess and how ‘they’ had gotten her. She kept her steady smile as she looked toward the man, slowly rising to her feet and glancing back toward her companions as they began to react to the situation as well, nodding slightly at Silental as she nervously asked if they should join the growing crowd. “I believe so,” She agreed with a warmhearted smile, watching then as Alistar made his move offering him the same patient nod of agreement as she made her own way toward the growing ocean of bodies. Before she headed into the mob, though, she stopped to pat the very obviously anxious Silental on the back and suggested in a whisper: “Perhaps you should stand back and keep an eye on the crowd for any suspicious activity?”
It was both a suggestion to possibly help Silental calm herself as well as to legitimately keep a lookout, but whatever Silental did, it would be of her own choice. Pandora was no leader, and didn’t intend to come across as bossy; Silental simply looked as though she were about to have an anxiety attack.
Gently, yet with firm purpose, Pandora nudged through the crowd and knelt to the side of the bleeding man, opposite where Alistar knelt, listening to the man rant and rave only vaguely as her attention focused instead on his wounds. “There, there, calm down, you’re safe here.” She spoke softly, taking hold of one of his arms to examine the wounds, checking to see if he needed immediate attention or to see if his wounds weren’t life-threatening. Her abilities were more fit for emergency care on the battlefield, so if his wounds needed long-term medical treatment, it would be best to patch him up to stop the bleeding and then transport him to the nearest doctor to be more thoroughly assessed.
“Would you mind telling us what happened, and calmly, if you could? Who, or what, is Bess, and who took Bess from you?” She looked over his attire as she spoke, figuring him to be some kind of… smith, perhaps, based on the leather apron her wore, but it was impossible to tell. He could just as well have been a butcher. “We will help you, but you must calm yourself and tell us the entire situation, yes?” She urged, her own calm demeanor not once faltering.
//not sure if i can post twice but oh well lets gooooo :V
(as eveyone on the table was rising up to join the growing crowd, i felt a hand on my back. My heart skiped a beat at the sudden move and it sent a shiver down my spine, but i soon realised, to my relief, it was just Pandora pating me on the back and not a complete stranger. She softly whispered to me that perhaps it would be best if i stayed behind to keep a lookout on the crowd for something suspicious. My relief at that moment was imense, i did not want to join the massive crowd (not that massive but in my eyes it was))
(i whisper back to Pandora:) Yes, oh my god, yes. (i sigh of relief) You are absolutelly right, someone should keep an eye for something suspicious, thank you, i really didn't want to go there. Now you better go help that man... he still seems very stressed, plus he's bleeding. I'll be right behind, far away from that crowd if you need anything. (i pat Pandora on the back before she goes)
(For some reason, a reason that i cannot explain nor understand, Pandora seemed very familiar... The way she acted and her kindness was strangelly nostalgic, yet sad... But no matter... I still don't know her true motives, i cannot trust her right away.)
(i stay behind keeping an eye on the crowd, admiring the way Pandora and Alistar calmly helped the poor man in the middle of that huge, stressing crowd.)

Mialee remained at the table interested in the commotion that the man now screaming in the tavern was drawing. Seeing the crowd of people gathering, her fingers twitched in excitement. Her eyes darting from patron to patron, eyeing potential trinkets and coin purses to snatch at this opportune time.
Shaking her head, she attempted to refocus on the strange ramblings of the madly raving ramblings with of this man. She thought to herself that maybe there could be a bounty on finding and returning this “Bess”. She continued to fight the urge to pick pocket while listening to the man’s nonsense.
(Alistar and Pandora are the first ones over to the man, trying to comfort him and get some answers. Silental and Mialee hang back a little, partly to not crowd the man but also to survey the situation. A crowd has gathered around, looking on with concern. Alistar and Pandora try to get the man to talk, but he is too out of it to answer.)
"Rickard! What's happened?"
(Willfred rushes to the side of the fallen man, who is still very distraught. His injuries, though numerous, do not seem to be the main source of his despair. He tries to compose himself, trying to answer in between sobs.)
"Gob... goblins. They broke into my workshop. I-I-I tried to stop them... I think I even killed one of them. But there were too many. They stabbed at me and beat me with clubs and... when I woke up my daughter was... gone!"
(Rickard quietly sobs as the crowd murmurs their disbelief. WIllfred starts explaining things to the party, who is gathered around.)
"Rickard is the Blacksmith here. And Bess, sweet little Bess is his 8 year-old daughter. She means the world to him. All he has ever since his wife passed a few years ago."
(A look of sudden realization appears on Willfred's face, a smile on his lips.)
"Rickard, my friend, don't despair! Look here! These here fine folks (he points towards the party) are skilled adventurers!"
“You-you’re adventurers? Please, you’ve got to help me! If I lost my Bess, I… I… I can pay you! I don’t have much, but I would give all the gold I have in the world if you can get my daughter back to me safely. Will you help me? Please, I beg you!”
(Rickard throws himself, both figuratively and literally, at the feet of the party, begging for help. The party begins to talk amongst themselves.)
OOC: Yes, you can post more than once, sometimes the roleplaying calls for it. You guys are doing very nicely, let me know if you have any questions anytime you like.
I hope I can ask a favor from you guys. Can you please go into your signature and add your character like I have to the bottom of your posts? It's under Profile, Edit Profile, and there's a spot there for Signature. It would help me remember who's who faster. Thanks a lot.
Pandora let out a little sigh, standing to give the man, Rickard, some space as Wilfred stepped in. It was clear that the man preferred the sight of someone familiar to him, and his wounds weren't so bad that she felt the need to intervene. Instead, she thought about the situation suddenly thrown before them, cupping her chin thoughtfully in thought only to frown gently as Rickard groveled at their feet and begged for their help. "Come now, there's no need for that," She again smiled, as encouragingly as she could muster as she again lowered herself to the man's level, if only to try and coax him to sit upright and not strain himself by crawling around. "Of course I'll help you. No payment necessary on my part, just seeing to it that your little girl is returned safe and sound is payment enough..." Her words trailed off as she glanced back towards the group.
"How about it? This is a fine opportunity to get our toes wet as adventurers, wouldn't you say? And besides, I know I for one can’t ignore the plea of a man in need of help. Not with the life of a child on the line."
(As i stand behind the crowd with mialee, i am able to hear everything the man is saying. I see Willfred rush to him, which is understandable, he's the bar keep he must know the guy, i think.)
(i hear him talking about goblins. Goblins those little foes... They disgust me. And then he says they took his daughter. HIS DAUGHTER?! Gold? FINE. Killing him? FINE. But taking a man's most beloved thing in the world, taking it before their own eyes...? That i cannot allow. Then Willfred says his wife passed away too. Poor guy... Those goblins took EVERYTHING from him. I am filled with rage, the desire to kill those goblins and make them pay fills my heart in that moment.)
(Filled with rage i burst thru the crowd with no fear nor anxiety, just rage, as he begs us to help him. I calm myself, do not show rage to them, it is not tthe men's fault, it's those dammed goblins you shall rage at, i think as i look at the poor and stressed man.)
- I will help you. Those... things, took your loved one from you, i know how that feels... (i say lowering my voice a bit) I will accept as payment money or any upgrades you can provide my weapons, or any better weapon for that matter... You´re the blacksmith that shouldn´t be a problem for you, i assume.
(Pandora says she will help the man without any payment, which is fine, i'm not her, as long as i get my share of gold or upgrades and weapons i'll be happy. She glances back at us and asks us if it wouldn't be a fine opportunity for an adventure.)
- Well my dear, (i say putting my hand on her shoulder) it seems it is a fine opportunity, like it was sent by the gods! (i let out a little laugh) And even if i can't say no to a bit of gold like you do, it will bring me peace of mind and calm to my heart if we get his daughter back to him safe.

Alistar listened to him, he knew what it felt like for this poor guy. His daughter was kidnapped by an evil man when she was only 16. He nodded in agreement, "I will help, I wont make you do anything for me, I know what its like to have your daughter taken." he said and put his hand on the mans shoulder, "Do you know where the goblins went or staying?" he asked and looked over at the group. He wasnt normally around these parts so he didnt know much, he was always moving around.
He liked Pandora so far, she seemed nice, especially with helping the man without pay. He also liked Silental, though it didnt seem like she got into these types of things easily. He didnt know how to feel about her making him pay, but that was none of his business. Who knows what troubles she could have..
Her attention was drawn as the fellow in the apron mentioned a sum of gold for the return of a person name Bess. Seeing the man groveling put a slight flutter into her heart, moments of complete vulnerability were so rare to capture. Mialee cleared her throat and chimed, "Did I hear the offer of gold and a hunt for goblins? What music to my ears. I will help you, you poor unfortunate soul. Fear not we will retrieve your dear Bess and return her to you." Standing up and moving towards the gentleman with a hand extended. "It's a deal, my dear fellow. Let's shake on it." Walking through the people, eyes locked with the blacksmith.
(The grateful Blacksmith goes around thanking the adventurers, alternately hugging and enthusiastically shaking the hands of the brave party who has agreed to help him. He thinks for a moment before speaking.)
"As far as where they could have taken her... I haven't got a clue. I mean, I didn't even know there were goblins in these parts. I'm pretty sure there's a dead goblin in my workshop, maybe we can figure out where they went if we go back there? It's on the north edge of town."
-Uuuuhhhmmm... y e s ? If you don't know where they came from and you have a dead goblin in your workshop then thats our best chance, i guess... Buuuuuut, since we are in the tavern we could ask few folk if they have seen any recent goblin activity nearby.
(i look back at the others and say:)
-There's no chance in hell it will be me who's gonna ask the folk for info, i'm terrible at socializing, i'm a better detective. So here's my plan, since we are four, 2 of us, and with us i mean you guys, should stay here in the tavern and ask the folk for some info, while me and one of ya go to the workshop and investigate the body. After the guys who stay here finish asking questions, which shouldn't take long, then we should all meet at the workshop, or any place ya like or preffer, as long as we know where it is, tho we all might want to look at the body, so the workshop is the best choice really. Now im open for sugestions and other plans, i sure as hell ain't the boss of the group so do whatever ya guys want, i'll just follow, BUT i sure ain't staying inside this crowded tavern any longer, i'm starting to panic a bit. (i finish with a nervous laughter)
Aliustar listened to Silental, he thought for a moment, "Well I can go with you to go figure out where the goblins are hiding," he said and looked at the others, "Unless anyone else isnt comfortable here? I can also be here." he said, crossing his arms. "Though we better hurry on a decision since.. Well.. Who knows what those goblins will do to the poor girl," he sighed softly. He wasnt to be quick with this, not for his own selfish reasons but mostly because that was only a child, someone who cant fight their way out.
Mialee looked over the others as they discussed the decision between one another. "He is right, we should begin moving sooner than later before the trail goes cold. Could you show us where your shop is located?" She began ensuring all her belongings are packed and stowed away safely. Every moment without moving was money falling through her coin purse. Looking expectantly at the others, she approached the blacksmith to await an answer and potentially an escort. Her brows raised, "Well, let us get going. Time is money and in the case of Bess it is more akin to life. If we get there in time we might just bring her back while she is still on this plane with us."
