Nadaar frowned and narrowed his eyes. "If that--" He catches himself, then after a s few seconds simply shook his head in the universal gesture of 'nevermind'. Later on he merely grunts at the ribbing, having to some extent already accepted he would perform the task and succeed regardless of the risk. As was the dragonborn way. But a more throaty grumble emanates at the following comment. "Both, for your edification. And... seeing as I would be dead, I could not really force you two to do anything. Nor... would I have expected it. For though you and Lady Nadia have treated me with a measure kindness and respect, many of your same people are just as likely to mistake me for some monster, or be relieved at my death for not having to put on airs as per some social customs."Nadaar said heatedly in the beginning, then turned nonchalant towards the end.
"The fact that you two worked together to save me shows... promise. But you will have to forgive me for waiting for... how does your saying goes? The other shoe to drop?"The slightest smile touches his face before he readies himself once more for the manuever. "And for the record. I did not say it was meant to be, more so that it should have... from a... hm... what's the word... Probable perspective. We dragonborn, for better or worst, are realist in that way."Having nothing more to add to that, he girds himself from the throw and.... Success!
He cheers and flexes and then with a start remember the horses. Assuming Nadia hadn't found some place to tie them off closer to the village, he rushes away to take care of all and then comes back. He crosses after Nadia and Wonder, hand over hand instead of pulling a tight rope trick, as he trusted the strength of his arms more than the balance of his body. Rillex he trusts to fly over as he soon as he readies to cross.
(Not sure if you still need a check for crossing at this point, but if so Athletics: 7(if adv.)7. Nadaar using the underhand crawl to justify using athletics)
Just as soon as all are across, Nadaar gives some faint nod that prompts Wonder to walk well ahead of the group with him following immediately after.

(Is that two Nat 1s even with advantage. Cuz it sure looks like that....my god that's horrible luck.)
Nadaar waits for Nadia to cross (pending successful check with advantage. Acrobatics or Athletics) and then for Wonder (no check). Rillex then flys over amd waits by Wonder for Nadaar.
Nadaar grabs hold of the rope and starts pulling himself across. About halfway across Nadaar feels the rope loosen ever so slightly before it suddenly snaps! The top snapped at the end by Zacks sword, and Nadaar clings tightly to the rope as he swings down towards the bridge supports. You slam into wooden support beams hard for 1 damage. You manage to stay clinging onto the rope, which still seems to be sturdy on the higher section of bridge.
(Assuming next couple of actions - namely that you would have Nadaar climb up and that the others would help so I'll make check for you with advantage. If you'd rather go swimming or want to try something else let me know)
One of your companions goes to help lift you up, if one of them doesn't Wonder does. You try your best to pull yourself up to the bridge 25. With the aid of your companions you manage to successfully pull yourself up to the other side of the bridge. Unfortunately however it would seem Zacks sword is now stuck on the other side of the gap.
Nadia was glad that Zack was all for going back for the horse after checking out the keep, a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips briefly til he mentions her pressing up too close. Was she? Truthfully, she couldn't tell, and his tone didn't sound like he was teasing her, and although he said he didn't mind she didn't want to make him uncomfortable so she scooted herself back a bit with a quiet apology.
When they approached the broken bridge and Zack began brainstorming ideas, the elf snorted a bit at his little joke and agreed that it may be the best way to get across. The good thing about the fighter, she realized, is that despite the events that happened prior, he was still getting her to laugh and lighten up, and she appreciated that more than anything. She steps back and leads the horses to hitch them somewhere safe and lets Nadaar assist Zack in getting across (as her noodle arms probably wouldn't be the best support in helping him jump over the gap). When she returns, she sees Zack on the other side, relieved that he didn't plummet to his death.
"If I fall and you guys are able to retrieve my dead body, there's a letter in my pack addressed to Natasha. Please send it for me." She mentions to Nadaar, wanting for it to be a joke, but she was pretty serious in that matter. The last thing she wanted to do was leave her sister in the dark. Nadia takes in a deep breath and begins making her way over. "Alright, alright..."
Nadia successfully manages to cross with ease and joins Zack and Rillex on the other side. While waiting the events with Nadaar take place and then group is separated from Zacks weapon but alive.
The rest of the bridge leads up to the walled Gate of the Keep. Set into the motte’s curtain wall are two windowless stone gatehouses with wood-shingled, high-pitched rooftops. Between them stands a set of oak doors with iron hinges. One of the doors is slightly ajar, indicating that the way into the inner bailey is unblocked.
Zack was glad someone appreciated his attempt at levity, because despite his act he still felt heavy from this morning. Watching Nadia cross with a bit of awkwardness to her movements but she seemed fine after just a few moments on it. He kept a hand on the rope in case the worst happened and it seemed everyone was going to make their way across fine. As Nadaar was preparing to cross, he'd say to Nadia Uh... haha you know moats have water right? Sure the fall might sting but I doubt you'll die! Unless... Wait... he says, pretending to scrutinize her with his eyes, taking his hand off the rope to perform a consideration pose Unless you're a witch?!Feigned shock crossing his face, before being replaced with real shock as Nadaar falls, the rope having snapped under his weight or some other factor.. Zack would grab the rope as fast as he could... Glad that he worse gloves in this moment in case ... Soon after, hearing a thud against the bridges supports, and still feeling the weight of the dragonborn on it fills him with relief.
After Nadaar gets up he'd bonk him on the head with a closed fist Dude, you can't go trying to prove yourself right just because you didn't like what I had to say.... he says, but he has a little visible concern on his face, before his eyes rise and see his sword, now trapped on the other side. Hopping on his heels.... he considers for several long moments. And with a resigned sigh, says Lets come back for it. It's important to me, but... we just need to get in here... see if anyone is alive, and when we're done... I can grab it. It's not in a very easy to spot place.. atleast not right away.. there's houses obscuring it from vision... it was clear he didn't want to leave it so exposed and alone but attempting to do all of this again... With a final breath, he says Seem's the door is open. So let's invite ourselves in. Unless the door was too-closed to fit through, he would slip in, with one last look at his sword... And once inside, would take stock of the situation, and layout in the immediate area.
The Inner Bailey is strewn woth rocks, having been heavily bombarded during the Giant assault on the keep. A quick glance around the area reveals the presence of who deceased human guards who appear to have been killed by falling debris. There are ramps that lead up to the 8ft high stone parapet that encircles the yard. You see no sign of anyone else in the immediate area. The two Gate houses you passed by on the way in have their entrances on this side of the wall. Both doors are closed, the east house appears intact, the west appears to have mostly crumbled in on itself.
The keep itself is in a sorry state. There are several sections of the keep that are collapsed or partially collapsed and rubble is strewn about everywhere. Certain sections of the keep are so damaged, that you might be able to enter the keep by climbing over the rubble. The main door however appears intact and is closed shut. Alternatively you could try to find another way in if you so choose.
Nadaar had appeared to give Nadia's joke serious thought before nodding in acceptance and saying, "It is doable, so it will be done."The matter aside and one near tarzen moment later, Nadaar climbed back atop the bridge (with help) hissing and growling something in what at least could've been a language. If Zack visibly raises a hand to him after, he shrinks out of the way and eyes him warily, but held his tongue to listen. And if not, he turns on him after hissing his displeasure and glowering at the soldier more angrily despite the levity perhaps meant by the words.
Regardless of what comes about, he calms before long, yet kept a closer eye out for Zack's positioning in the future. "I have not the foggiest idea about what you mean. But in the future, I do believe I will be on the lookout for Silk rope's going forward... and spare swords for both of us." He comments grumpily on the way to the door. At the sight of the devastation that follows all agitation falls to the way side. While the two -- the one intact gate house held promise, he looks around first for any discarded longswords or rapiers to at least borrow enroute to the main doors. "It seems our boulder dropping friends did not take too kindly to these ones especially, lending less credit to my previous assertions. But there may yet be hope for survivors past the main door. Lady Nadia. Give that one(east gate house) door a listen, won't you?" He glances back to request before focusing ahead. Unless Zack and/or dissenting opinions, upon reaching it he looks to Zack to give opening or knocking a chance.

Nadia's anxiety skyrockets when she sees the rope snap when Nadaar was making his way over, the gap the elf darting to help him up with the strength of her noodle arms (though it was mainly Zack who did most of the work, but she tried her best). When they successfully get Nadaar back on solid ground, she breathes a sigh of relief and thanks the Gods that they were able to get him back up before he fully plummeted down. Now that they were more or less composed, Nadia gave a quick glance over to Zack's sword on the other side, then to Zack himself, a frown crossing her face. "We'll come back for it, no problem." She reassures him with a pat on the back and a friendly smile. "Let's do this quick but careful."
She quietly falls behind the two, dark brown hues looking around the immediate area for anything of note, but perks up when Nadaar mentions to her the house to the east. "Sure thing, capt'n." She quips and heads over to the house he pointed out and presses her ear to the door to take a listen if anything was moving around inside.
You approach the gatehouse and put your ear to the door. You let it rest there for a few minuets, listening for any signs of occupation. For a moment you hear nothing, but after a minute or so you think you can make out the sound of someone breathing heavily, just loud enough to be heard through the door. The breathing is irregular, as if whoever or whatever is in there were hurt or having a hard time getting air.
Zack had been eyeing the area, taking in the destruction. The creatures that caused this must have been horrible. Though the 'how' of them accomplishing this task in such a way still eluded him. The loss of life so meaninglessly was insane. An entire town.... For the rock.... Hearing Nadaar, and watching Nadia as she headed towards the door of the eastern gatehouse, while he himself had been near the main entrance itself. Waiting to see what would come of it, ready to fight if needed.. it had been a while since he had used his fists... But he was confident he could still pack a punch if needed. He almost asked Nadia what she heard/saw, but thought better of it given the situation.

Zack, since you are by the door to the keep, you are able to hear muffled voices coming from inside. While you can't make out all the words, the conversation sounds heated and voices are being raised. You're able to make out a few curses and a name, Alara, but not much else.
Nadia's brows furrow when she listens in further on the breathing, keeping her lips sealed while she motions the boys over. She raises one finger, signifying she hears one person, then points to the door, which she hopes they understood that they were inside that building. She looks between the two of them, waiting to see if either of them give any instructions on what to do.
Zack's brows furrowed as he began to attempt to listen in when just a moment later, Nadia would begin finger-working, when he would start to do some of his own. Raising 2-3 and pointing at the door he was near. With a little more than a whisper, he'd ask Nadaar to assist Nadia in case whoever she had found was less than happy to see them as she listened in where she was. Him making a visual arm action that said to try to open her door once Nadaar was close enough, as he dipped his ear to the door he was close by trying to get more than a single name. Could these be more Zhentarim or.. did they finally find some people who lived here?

Zack, with your ear to the door you're able to make out more of the conversation on the other side, especially as the longer it drags on the louder it seems to get. You hear three distinct voices, and they seem to be arguing over what to do next. Though parts are broken you hear the following conversation.
"We can't sit here forever! We need to get help."
"We can't leave Lady Nandar, It's our duty to protect her and all she owns with our lives. I won't let some opportunistic thugs waltz in here looking for easy loot."
"Its been days Alara! You're delusional! No one can even get to us, we are trapped! We need to focus on making a way across or we'll die here."
"stop fighting, this isn't helping"
"Help should be here anyday. I sent the message myself. Someone will come. We just have to be patient."
"No one is coming! No one cares about us! They left us to die. You saw that fire last night, you think the people who did that want to help! I say if Kaelen finishes his watch and says it looks clear, we find a way across and leave this dead town behind.
"You take one step towards that bridge and I'll have your stupid head for desertion."
"Come try it you crazy *****!"
You hear the sound of weapons being drawn before hear a loud cry of "Stop it both of you for **** sake! I can't take this anymore!"
Apart from giving Zack a look of mild concern, he nodded his acceptance and made his way over to Nadia. After shooting her glance to make sure she was at least a step behind him, Nadaar takes one final, deep breathe before trying to open the door. Gently. If that doesn't work, he snorts and said just loud enough to be heard past the tower door, "Well, they cannot all be devil worshippers in this town. Pardon, but is anyone inside here. Do forgive us for barging into your humble abode.... abodes. But given the state of the town, we thought we might lend our aid... Hello?" He gives the door a few decently hard knocks before waiting a moment to see if any answer.
If none do, he goes on to say, "You know if you don't, I am liable to think the fellows responsible for the fire last night are liable to have taken residence here! Well, any compatriots of there's that might not have joined in that particular debacle."He chuckles heartily. "If so, it would be my moral obligations to inform you that I am liable to kick this door in, and see to your unfortunate end, if not inevitable trip to the realm of dreams. Sooo... yes. You have until the count of four to at least answer me before... well... I am obligated to keep my order."Again, he pauses for just a second or two for an answer, and in hearing none, sighs and starts the count. However, on the count of 3 is when he actually tries outright kicking the door using great, weighty, and virtually bear dragonborn foot.

Nadaar, your first attempt to open the door gently is successful as the door is unsecured. As you open the door you and Nadia both see what appears to have been a small barracks, there are 6 bunk beds with wooden foot lockers at the foot of each. Towards the back of the room is a ladder that appears to lead up to the roof of the tower, likely for guards to keep watch from. The ladder is broken, several of the wooden rungs are broken near the top. At the bottom lies a crumpled figure, a Human male with one leg obviously broken. He appears to be unconscious. He is dressed in chain armor with a solid breast plate emblazoned with a Crest you recognize, a golden fox with a rose in its teeth on a purple background. You recognize this Crest from the letter that originally brought you here, and know that it belongs to house Nandar, the ruling house of Nightstone.

Nadia silently stalks behind Nadaar when he enters the tower, her eyes darting everywhere else while she listens in on anything (Perception: 15), then on the unconscious body. A frown crosses her visage and if it looks relatively safe, she approaches them cautiously before giving them a look over and maybe try and help them if Nadaar doesn't seem opposed to the idea.
Nadia, you look around but hear nothing out of the ordinary and see nothing. As you approach the man you see that he is a pale skinned human male with brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard. Other than the fact that his leg is obviously broken you don't see anything else wrong with him. While you're over looking him you see he partially opens his eyes and looks at you and mutters softly,
"Alara? Is that you? What happened?"
He closes his eyes again and seems to drift out of consciousness.

MEANWHILE, BACK AT THE TOWER DOOR! (Lol)
Well, any compatriots of there's that might not have joined in that particular debacle." He chuckles heartily. "If so, it would be my moral obligations to inform you that I am liable to kick this door in, and see to your unfortunate end, if not inevitable trip to the realm of dreams. Sooo... yes. You have until the count of four to at least answer me before... well... I am obligated to keep my order." Again, he pauses for just a second or two for an answer, and in hearing none, sighs and starts the count.

(Will wait on Nadia's post before doing my own)
Occassional Dungeon Master.
Medicine: 7
(nvm with the helping XD)
Nadia, you look around but hear nothing out of the ordinary and see nothing. As you approach the man you see that he is a pale skinned human male with brown hair and a neatly trimmed beard. Other than the fact that his leg is obviously broken you don't see anything else wrong with him. While you're over looking him you see he partially opens his eyes and looks at you and mutters softly,
"Alara? Is that you? What happened?"
He closes his eyes again and seems to drift out of consciousness.
