"Do you guys want to dip into the shop and see if anyone inside saw or heard anything? Or do you want to keep it focused and get on down to the tavern?"
Gallias pondered the given situation. Volo was a celebrity or at least had his face plastered over numerous books: him going around asking questions not related to a book topic would come off as rather odd. And Waterdeep is big. Very big. Too big for just one man to search for a needle in a haystack. It would make sense to ask for help but why not go to the authorities? People would jump at the chance of working with the Volothamp Geddarm. Like a triton on shore, something smelled fishy. But what?
Before Gallias could continue that line of though however, he was rudely taken back to the present when he heard his name called out.
"Obaya, be our witness that five of us - me, Lassodon, Jonas, Gallias and Sampson (if I heard the names correctly) are here to accept the task to return a kidnapped person by the name Floon Blagmaar"
'Wait, what?' Gallias said. 'I never agreed to-' He then mulled the idea over. 'Mister Geddarm, am I correct here that you wish to hire me, a man of the law, and by extension these others gathered here in an official capacity regarding the search and recovery of a third party, the aforementioned Floon Bagmaar, for the price of 10 gold paid upfront with 10 times said amount upon completion?'
Gallias plucked a small notepad and pen from an inner pocket and wrote something down. 'We'll smooth out the official mumbo jumbo later but consider this a deal.' He put the pen and paper away in his hand and bowed. 'Gallias Fierce, private investigator and Waterdeep City Watch consultant, at your service.'
He once more began writing on the notepad:
"Well, He is quite a handsome human male in his early thirties with wavy-blond hair. He was dressed in princely garb when I last saw him. Two nights ago, before Floon disappeared, he and I were drinking and merrymaking at the Skewered Dragon, a dark, bawdy tavern in the Dock Ward. I recommend that you guys start your search there."
He muttered along as he was writing with the occasional tongue between his lips. He put the notepad away. The others, after some very brief introductions, were already making plans to head on over to this Skewered Dragon tavern. It seemed as good a place as any to start.
As you enter out into the gleaming summer heat you realise how dark it was in there. As you turn a corner, you find yourselves on a street that has been cordoned off by the City Watch. Lying on the cobblestones are a half-dozen corpses, seemingly the victims of some terrible skirmish. Watch officers have disarmed and arrested three blood-drenched humans and are in the midst of questioning witnesses. One of the officers sees you. “Get on,” she says. “Nothing to see here.”
Gallias paused for a moment. If not for common professionalism, it was his curiosity that lead him on. He showed the officer his City Watch horn as a way of identification and asked: 'What happened here, officer?' He turned his gaze towards her because sometimes, body language speaks louder than words.
(Holy cow that's good, the roll and the post) "Uhh, yeah, These 3 seem to have murdered an innocent bystander, we are currently questioning them to figure out who sent them to the murder but all we've gathered is the fact they have Zhentarim emblems"
(I'm going to work, I'll try to hop in once and awhile but likelihood is I'll be afk til 11pm PST. That being said personally I'd like to check the store but I'll go with the group decision. Thanks!)

'Nasty bit of business.' Gallias replied with a solemn look. He made a mental note of the Zhentarim mention, hoping that this Floon Bagmaar did not get tangled up with the wrong crowd. 'If I may have your attention for a moment, officer.' Gallias plucked the little notepad from his pocket. 'I'm currently working a missing person's case. Most likely the bugger got drunk and is sleeping off his stupor somewhere or just as likely he fell headfirst into the water but to save us the trouble later: does anyone from this here crime scene fit this description?' And he showed her the note describing Floon Bagmaar.
Lassodon looks over at the suspects and eyes them warily as he continues with the group. "I would like to head into the shop, seems they might be able to give us some extra info if we were to convince them."

"I don't know if it'll help but I doubt it will hurt. We can stop" Jonas is standing casually and watching to see if anyone is following or watching the group.
A cloud of lavender-scented purple smoke trails out of the shop’s door as you peer inside. Every wall is painted purple, and every dusty knickknack on the shelves is dyed a deep violet. The hairless old gnome sitting cross-legged on the counter wears plum-colored robes. His cheeks are decorated with nine purple face-painted eyes.
The gnome lowers a pipe and exhales a cloud of lavender smoke before raising a hand. “Hail and well met! Come browse the shelves of the most curious curiosity shop in the world!”
Kieran never "worked" with someone else before. The experience so far was ... curious. One inquisitive member of a sudden gang decided to stay behind and investigate an unrelated murder, others no less suddenly chose to go shopping. Sure thing, the shop was curious but it did not look like it was going to get closed any time soon.
"If you don't mind I'll go check the tavern. Big company would just attract more attention anyway" He smiled, waved and left for the Skewered Dragon.
(Main Group) "Xoblob, and I'm not really sure what any of the stuff in here, I just bought the store and inherited all this treasure, it looks rare so I'm gonna call it treasure"
(Kieran) The Skewered Dragon looks like a ruin. Both of its front-facing windows are smashed, and a ship’s anchor is lodged in the roof. Through the windows, you can see a group of haggard patrons drinking from huge tankards.
(Also earlier I was asking about a murder mystery, this isn't the murder mystery though it is a mystery)
Jonas nods and keeps walking past. (Was the emblem on a suspect or victim? I don't know why my roll didn't show upon the check.)

(OOC: I'm confused - Gallias is still talking to the officer at the crime scene. But some of us already in the shop.)

no reason why those two things can't happen simultaneously. Narrative and narrated time can be tricky like that ^^

"Greetings Ser. I'm browsing. " Perception 16 anything stand out to Jonas?
A Small, Weightless Stone Block catches your eye, and he's selling it for 5 GP (I didn't pick the trinkets btw, it's random)
Sampson goes over to the stone for an insight check: 23
(We were advanced 10 gold for taking the job?)
"Hmm, now this is interesting. I'm sorry I didn't get your name, but what is this?" Jonas picks up the block and moves it to the gnome at the counter.
