The application process continues until a week from today. At that time, I will go through the applicants and select the players to form the party. We will do somewhat of a Session 0 where we'll establish how your characters know each other and go over any shared history you'd like to entertain. We'll also go over the religion and how deities will come into play in the campaign. If you're character has interest in religion, feel free to PM me and we can work on creating a god appropriate to the setting that will work with your character choice.
Future applicants, do not worry about party composition when creating your characters. I do believe we have the monk slot covered so it may be best to avoid creating another monk going forward. If you have any questions about any part of the process, let me know and we'll work it out.
I am going to offer another character in my post above. I have other ideas that I think will work.

Backstory: Raised by his grandparents, he spent most of the time alone, with his cat and some books. He had a few friends throughout the years but the cat kept him company most of the time. The peaceful days were great, merchants passing every so often, traveling minstrels telling stories of magnificent adventures, and the most interesting to him, the researchers coming to the ancient monolith near the town. The forgotten nature of it remained hidden from the minds of most universities near the town and in the country. He spent most of the time near it, taking in the atmosphere around it and the weird shift of life activity. One particular researcher was interested in his fascination with the monolith. The researcher was an Aasimar woman, one of the famous researcher in the country. They decided to camp outside the monolith for some time. That was when the inescapable disease swept the town. All were sick, including his grandparents and the cat. Some of his friends were already past help when he came back to the town, most were. His grandparents were calm about the situation and only entrusted him with survival. He took the cat and ran back towards the monolith. There him and the researcher lived together for some more time, eventually the cat died. This was the poin where his still young mind could not comprehend why this happened. It was all so sudden. So... almost theatrical. It wasn’t fair, none of it. Why should he have survived, arguably the least useful member of the village, and others perish into the mud. Why wouldn’t any of the merchants get sick, none of the research’s. These thoughts provoked emotion for the last scrape of memory that connected him to the town. His cat. Even then, when the cat failed to resist the rot of this sickness, he turned to his deepest desire. He wished for everyone just to come back. He pleaded the Gods and got nothing’s in return. He pleaded the land and got nothing in return. He pleaded the researcher and got nothing in return. Finally, his gaze affiliated itself on the monolith, the secret of the ages, the rock that kept away something. At that moment birds fell from the sky, foxes dropped dead while the rabbits they chased stopped breathing in mid-air. The cat blinked. Still frigid in his hands, lifeless as it was, it blinked. It howled a meow. Lifeless painless, mindless. Still, it was something. The researcher wasn’t there anymore. She left three days ago. How long did this take... How much did this take...
I think I answered that question in PMs. I believe further backstory would depend on the Session 0 however, if you need more I can always provide.
Hello everyone! We'll be wrapping up the character selection process this week. If you have any questions or want to flesh out your character a bit more, please let me know and I'll do my best to help you.
Eira Nygard was abandoned as a child, left in the woods to die alone. Just as her life was to be cut short by the fangs of a wolf, she was saved by an odd duo - a gnome named Jolin Helmila and goliath named Vohnil Bov. The two were vagabonds, wandering the lands with no particular goal, simply living for the sake of surviving. But when they found her, they found a purpose in their lives and decided to settle down and take her in, to raise her as their own and to give her a home. They did everything in their power to keep her safe, but despite their efforts, Eira often found herself in dangerous situations, usually on purpose. She had an adventurous spirit and loved to explore and the duo's over protection only amplified her curiosity of the world outside of their little home in the woods.
Over the years, the duo found it harder and harder to stop her from running off and so, rather than trying to snuff out her passion, they decided to teach her how to survive in the wilds so that when she did inevitably find herself in the face of danger, she would be able to protect herself.
When she came of age, and to no ones surprise, Eira decided to leave home and to pursue a life of adventure. Heading off to the nearest place of civilisation, she hopes to become an adventurer, completing various quests and missions and gathering stories for her to write about in the letters she sends home.

Hi, this'll be the first PbP-game I have participated on, but hopefully that won't be a problem.
Ability scores:14141210131211
Name: Tanni Thornhill
Aligment: Chaotic Good
Race: Female Rock Gnome
Class: Barbarian (aiming for storm herald, if she survives that long)
Background: Guild Artisan
Backstory: Details can be adjusted to fit the world.
long version:
Thornhill-family has owned a small, but respectable, workshop for three generations and it is well known for its quality and flexibility. They produce everything from farming tools to strong boxes to parade armour pieces. Tanni was one of the youngest of his nine siblings and the whole family helped in running the workshop, each in their own way. As soon as Tanni was old enough, she helped her grandfather in the smithy. She was tought the basics and soon she was working alongside his grandad, matching the elderly gnome in skill and speed of her work. As Tanni grew, her temper did the opposite and soon she was regurarly gutpunching and flinging hammers at the customers who tried to haggle by criticizing her work. Her father offered to handle all negotiations with the customers so Tanni could focus on her work instead of beating up every other customer.
One day, an elderly dwarf visited the shop and was intriqued of a fine axe on the shelves. He asked who had made it and was introduced to the 30-year-old Tanni, who was now responsible for most of the metalwork in the workshop. The dwarf, who introduced himself as Norri Kolgor, was a renowned smith from the western mountains and being very impressed by Tannis work offered her to become an apprentice under his personal tutelage. Tanni gleefully accepted and, despite being sad seeing their daughter go, her parents gave their blessing. Though they would not see Tanni for a long time, at least there would be less shouting, fighting and flying tools aimed at rude customers in the workshop.
For the next twelve years, Tanni worked under the guidance of Norri, learning the secrets of dwarven craftsmanship. Days were long and challenging. In addition to her training, Tanni also did tasks beneath the master and the owner of the smithy. The old smith followed closely her work, always looming over her shoulders and was quick to point how her grip was wrong or the temperature of metal was incorrect. The fuse of young and impatient gnome burned easily and she let her fists show what she thought of so-called-master-smiths guidance. Until now, no one had stood up properly to Tanni but the old dwarf did not budge. Instead, he responded to the young upstart with an equal measure. Most of the time Norri emerged victorious, although neither survived the heated argument without a bruise or a cut. Soon Tanni started to respect Norri in a new way, though it didn’t stop “arguments” from flaring up.
When Tanni turned seventy-ish [She had never bothered to keep track of her age] a sickness claimed Norri Kolgor unexpectedly and the whole craftman's district mourned the old master. That night Tanni was the only one working in the closed-up shop. While others toasted to the memory of Norri Kolgor, Tanni pounded red hot metal, tears streaking her sooty face and blurring her vision. The other day Norri had mentioned to Tanni that he had considered leaving his workshop to her, as she was his most talented and trustworthy apprentice, but he hadn’t had the time to leave any papers behind to make it official. The oldest of the apprentices, Bomdar Irontoe, claimed that it was his right to become the next head of the smithy. When Tanni heard this, she was furious and told others what Norri had planned but not one of the others believed her. No sane dwarf would leave the most famous workshop in the city to a gnome, that would be just absurd. Grinding her teeth Tanni accused of Bomdir for disrespecting their masters wish but the dwarf just swiped the accusation aside, as no one else had heard of Norris plan. Laughing Bomdir suggested that if the smithy was that important for her that she was ready to lie so brazenly, all she had to do was to place a sack of twenty thousand gold pieces on his palm and the smithy would be hers. In response, Tanni punched the laughing dwarf's gut so hard he collapsed wheezing on to the ground. By the time Bomdir managed to stand up, Tanni had gathered her meager belongings and stood before him with her hand outstretched. Before the baffled dwarf could react, Tanni shook his hand and said that she agreed to the conditions he had placed, and struck a second time, this time knocking the new master of the smithy unconscious. So Tanni marched out of the workshop, pocketing Norris marking chisel on her way out. She left the city and started her task to claim the workshop of her master back.
Short(er) version:
Tanni Thornhill is a former apprentice of a famous blacksmith Norri Kolgor, who was a master craftsman of a renowned Black Rams Smithy. Her temper was as short as she was, but her master responded to her tantrums in kind. This usually led to fistfights, leaving both of them bruised, but Norri never gave an inch to his apprentice. This indomitable attitude birthed a new kind of respect towards her master in Tannis mind and she worked herself to the bone to meet her masters high standards.
One day, when Tanni was seventy-ish years old (she never bothered to keep count of her age), Norri invited her to drink with him. He confessed that he had took note of her hard work and had decided to leave the smithy to her, after he was too old to continue working of course. Two weeks afterwards, Norri suddenly passed away due an illness. The whole craftsmans district raised a toast to the old master, but Tanni stayed behind in the smithy, working through the night with tears drawing streaks to her sooty face. The next day, one of the elder workers of the smithy Bomdar Irontoe, nominated himself as the next master, seeing that he had worked the longest there. Tanni objected, telling everyone of Norris plan to leave the smithy to her, but no documentation was found to support Tannis claim. Bomdar exclaimed that no self-respecting dwarf would leave such a well-known establishment to a gnome and, with a grin, offered to accept twenty thousand gold pieces in trade for Black Rams Smithys ownership. After Tanni had left the dwarf wheezing on the ground and gathered her meager possessions, she grabbed the still-gasping dwarfs hand and said that she accepted his terms. So Tanni stormed out with her blacksmiths hammer and Norris personal marking chisel to search for a way to gather the outrageous amount of gold.
What does balance mean to your character and how does your character find balance in their lives? During her apprenticeship, Tanni learned that there is a fine line between a selfish bully and a strong person with indomitable principles. There are good and proper people in the world and there are those who would exploit and trample the weak at the first opportunity. Tanni strives to be a fair and good person, though more often than not, her temper gets the better of her. Both her family and her former master taught her that you can care about someone regardless of their, or your own, flaws. Tanni has taken this to hearth and tries to find the balance between being a strong and fair person and staying true to herself and her moral sense, aiming to harness her rage and directing it towards something productive.
