As the light slowly fades around you, you return to darkness only being lit by the two torches wielded by your companions. Your feet rest again on solid ground but it is now solid stone that has been tiled to create a floor. The cold air of the hole is quickly replaced with air that is much more humid and..... salty? You look around and see that you're in some sort of stone cellar. There are casks of wine stored up against one of the nearby walls. Against the opposite wall are various slabs of meat that appear to be drying as they hang from hooks. There are no windows and only a single door that offers an exit.
Paren instinctively looks above and does in fact find what appears to be the base of what he assumes to be an obelisk suspended above. Giving the stone a touch fails to activate the runic gate that brought them here. There must be some sort of delay before it can be used again.
Moving to the door, you quickly realize that it is locked from the outside. You could attempt to pick the lock or just brute force the door if you'd like to escape. You don't hear any sounds of people or threats on the other side of the door.
Pick the lock: DC12-use slight of hand + proficiency if you have thieves tools and are proficient.
((OOC: Oops, sorry everyone, probably shouldn't just touch things.))
Paren moves to the door and pulls the kit from his pack before getting to work. "Guess that you all know now, I don't need to hide these as much. Sorry Tanni." He gives an apologetic look and a slight shrug before returning to the door.

Beyond the door are more stone walls and a staircase that spirals above. There is a small window that allows natural night to flood against the stone. Looking out you see water as far as your eyes can see. The smell of salt and the calling of seagulls makes you keenly aware you are no longer anywhere near Holden Heights.
The only body of water this large in the same region as Holden Heights would be the Glimmering Sea that provides the northern border. Where you are along the sea is uncertain or how far you are from land until you can find another window
A voice, like a long lost memory, stirs in your consciousness. You all hear, "That's always happened to me before." The voice is in a language that almost feels foreign until you realize it is celestial.
"No! no, no, no, no, NO!!!!" Falaine will say as she shifts from form to form, voice to voice. At the end she will collapse in her true form clutching her head, whimpering and sobbing.
It doesn't take long for the group to realize they're in some sort of stone fortification. This seems to be the bottom floor as the stair case only extends upwards from here. Looking out over the sea you realize your still several hundred feet above the water.
History check DC 8 to read:
You've heard stories of the coastal cities that have popped up along the Glimmering Sea. They started as fishing villages and quickly grew into large communities and eventually their own fiefdoms. Previously separated by dense forests, the castle cities were able to operate with little regard to life outside the walls. Once the trade road was built, there has been quite the spread of knowledge and ideas between the citizens. In general, this was great for the townsfolk as they could better understand how their counterparts lived their lives in nearby castles but a few of the nobles found it more of a threat.
Falaine, the ever observant druid, hears the quick footsteps moving with urgency on the floor above.
Tanni is still looking at the clay wall when she hears Jonathan's warning. She turns back just in time to be hit with the blinding light and she lets out a surprised yell as they are transported to the new location.
Tanni is still rubbing her eyes and taking in the new surroundings as Paren works with the door. She hears Falaine's breakdown and moves closer to her, placing her hand on the shapeshifter's shoulder. "It's okay, as long as we're still together we're safe. Pull yourself together, we need everyone if we want to get back." She turns to the rest of her companions and, alarmed by the strange voice, angrily tries to shout and whisper at the same time "What was that?! Where are we?! And who's talking?!"

"The sea?" Tanni exclaims and rushes to the window to get a better view. "We must be in some kind of fort or castle near the Glimmering Sea."
The voice you are all hearing is unlike anything you've heard before. Paren would notice that the voice sounds similar to others he's heard but only because it is spoken in Celestial.
As you all look around, you see that you're alone in the stone staircase. It is dark her with the exception of the light from the window and the torches, but you're certain you are alone.
Paren walks back over the Falaine and does his best to comfort her, laying a hand on her shoulder. "My best guess is that voice may be another one of the old gods. I don't recognize it but it is speaking in the same way as both Lugh and Merveille, though not in riddles, which is a nice change."

"Well, we're not getting any wiser by staying down here." Tanni draws her warhammer and steps to the bottom of the staircase, peering up the spiraling stairs before turning to her companions. "I say we go up and demand some answers, as soon as you're ready." She casts a worried look at Falaine, but turns quickly back to the window and the staircase.
With Tanni's focus toward the staircase, she can hear the quick sounds of soft feet on the stone floor above them. They seem to be moving with haste and not with anger.
Paren looks up at Tanni. "So what, we're just storming up and starting a confrontation? It might be best to do a little sneaking first, just to make sure we didn't end up in someone's evil lair. And what are we going to do about this voice. Last time I talked to one it made things very confusing and led to a lot of friction between us all that I don't want again."

(Oof, a lot happened!)
Finan puts a hand on Paren's and Tanni's shoulders. "Apart from me standing in a glade moments ago, only to find myself in a stone room now... Before all that happened, two things occurred to me that I should mention before they slip from my mind again. Paren, remember that riddle that you said Lugh told you? About the whereabouts of the other Sentinel? "Warden of the Sun, the cold's tears", or something in that nature?
"When I felt the water rushing past, it felt not only cold, but there was a hint of power running through it that wasn't natural. Not benign, per se, just... power. Perhaps that elder Warden of yours lives at the water's source? Up in the mountain? Falaine, you even mentioned the riddle reminded you of mountains and snow, right?"
He lets go of Paren and Tanni and walks over to Falaine, putting an arm around her. "Calm down, lass, eh? What's got you so spooked?" he says to her softly, then looks back to Paren. "And Daais. Jonathan, Tanni, you both heard this too, right? Daais is the name of the God that Teren prays to. Remember him? The quiet priest that we met when we first got to town. He brought us to the inn, didn't he?" Finan smiles, thinking back to that innocent time only a few days back. "I lost track of him the day after. I hope he made it through safely. He didn't say much about his God, but it sounds like another player on the board."
He perks up suddenly, mouthing the word 'Wait' as his mind works, then after a moment says aloud."In fact, did you just talk to me? Did you bring us here?"

Paren puts his hand back on her shoulder. "I don't know if it's gone but don't worry, we're here for you. Finan, you may want to try celestial if you're going to talk with the old gods, that seems to be their preference."

Jonathan is taken aback. He has never used mystical transportation before, and finds himself in another place. He seems half-amazed, half-angered by the method in how they had left. He is lucky that his belongings are with him, or he would be in an even worse position, as he had left his coins in his pack rather than on his pouch as he wasn't going shopping.
"Whomever touched something... In the future, don't!" He says to the others as his senses slowly come back to him, a little disorientated from the travel.
Upon the sound of footsteps, Jonathan instinctively puts his hand on his rapier. "Wait, perhaps we have arrived somewhere friendly." He tells himself as much as the others. "Hopefully they will at least let us know whereabouts we are... Though be ready just in case it is some vagabonds I suppose..."

Falaine will slowly sit up. "Is the voice gone? No voices, can't have... Identity, with other voices in my head." Her speech is hesitant.
