Tanni lifts her backpack on to her back, takes her key and puts it into the case Ombre is holding. She then steps outside of the Wishing Well and walks up to Falaine. "I'm ready. Lead the way."
Falaine will lead them on a slightly wandering path forward Oppenholdt's library. "You can never be too careful." (Having trouble with color. But she is talking in her purple voice and looks like the elf you first met.)
(Sorry for no posts for a few days. Currently unwell and not really having a great time looking at screens.)
Jonathan looks over, swallowing his mouthful before answering. "Well I... I suppose..." He sighs. "I suppose I can be around to help." He sounds a little annoyed, given he's finally got a bit of time to put his feet up (the first really since they arrived) and enjoy some luxury food. "What do you want me to do?"
Upon finishing breakfast, he'll hand over his key, thanking the hosts for their hospitality.
The path through the streets of Holden Heights is uneventful. The crowds that had made the streets alive with faces and conversation is now long gone. A sour mood has taken over the city as townsfolk return to their mundane lives. Some travelers make their way through but they seem to have very little intent on staying in the city any longer than it takes to get the lift to raise or lower them.
Finan leads his way through town to the off street he'd found the halfling before. The crates that sat along the road in front of the shop were all gone. Through the glass, Finan could see a group of four halflings talking to an elf. While the halfings were wearing the same street clothes made of dirty linen and woven fabrics, the elf looked to be wearing rather fine silks that fitted tightly to his well toned physique. He wore a cloak over his shoulders that seemed to provide some barrier from the elements.
The conversation seems to be going pleasantly.
Jonathan...
would recognize this elf as the one that made the purchase from the strange artifact booth in the town square.
Jonathan leans to the others, talking quietly. "I recognise that elf." He tells them as subtly as he can. "That one was by the artefact stall the other day. Pretty sure he purchased something whilst there. Perhaps a coincidence, but this town seems to not believe in the like, does it?"
Paren takes a good look at the elf. "Aye. Once is something, twice means we may have another interested party. I'll go talk to the halfling and see what information I can get." Paren walks over to the group. "Hello Brother, might I trouble you for a second of your time?" As he approaches he's trying to overhear what is being said.

Paren opens the door to the business and enters. He's unable to determine what the conversation is about but the elf gives him a look over before departing out the same door Paren just entered through. "Ah, you're back,"the halfling says before moving to the desk and pulling open the drawer. He shuffles through a few envelopes before finding the one he seeks. He draws it form the drawer and hands it to Paren.
Jonathan and Finan see several figures exit the nearby alley and flank the elf. They appear to be his guards and armed with long curved blades popular among mercenaries that operate along the coastal cities to the north. The guards look rather unarmored but you both assume they have thick leathers under their cloaks. The elf seems to pass you by with little regard but the looks on the guards' faces seem rather threatening.
Paren opens the letter and takes a glance at it. After doing so he speaks to to halfling. "You wouldn't happen to know where I could find more of the crates like the one you had me deliver when we first met? My friends and I were speaking with the Messenger before his passing and he was very concerned with their location."

The halfing shrugs and says, "Not my responsibility." He slams the drawer shut and turns a key, locking it. "We all have our work to do. Best to not stick your hands into things that don't concern you."
The halfling seems rather irritated with your questioning. As you look around, you see that the shop is full of pots used for plant keeping. It seems to be some sort of gardening shop but lack much of the normal plants you'd normally expect as the season is ending.
"Anyway. That was the only box I seen like that. Only one I was told to get delivered and you handled that so we're square."
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Paren's eyes narrow a bit as he tries to figure if the halfling is telling the truth. He turns and leaves the shop to rejoin his friends. "Alright. Thank you for the letter."

Paren seems to think the halfling is being as trustworthy as a seedy criminal could be. He exits the shop and joins his companions in the street again. A strange expression plays on the paladin as he ponders the connections of things in this city.
As they're walking Paren turns and walks backwards again, "Finan, do you still have that letter I gave you. The one meant for Krusk. I have a feeling there was more to it than what we decifered, something that could help us. It seems like the halfling and Ombre are followers of Aiden and have intercepted part of the shipment meant for the followers of Shamara, mainly that dagger."

Finan raises his eyebrow. "You should have it, kid." With a sigh, he puts his hands in his face, rubbing it vigorously before dragging his hands down. "Nothing can be easy, huh? Anyway, I told you about Ombre, she is definitely working for Aiden's cause. He has no quarrel with Shamara, however, so it was not so much an interception as a working together to save what they could. What I don't understand is why you were asked to deliver the case. If the Halfling was the one that recovered the shipment, why could he not bring it to Ombre himself?"
He puts his hand on Paren's shoulder, looking him deep in the eyes."I mean no disrespect, just wondering who is working for who." He says, then glances at both of them as he continues. "Which leads me to another piece of information that we've partly ignored up until now. Gunthar's death. He was alive when he was brought into town, apparently recovering from his wounds, but he died anyway. Someone, or something, killed him. Which leaves us not only with a killer on the loose, but also the question, why? Did he know something?"
He shakes his head, looking in the direction the Elf went. "Both the Elf and the Halfling could shed more light on that question, possibly. I say we put some pressure on the Halfling, since he could also tell us about the Elf, and we know for certain the Halfling is involved, while the Elf could still be a coincidence. Unlikely, but still."

Falaine deposits her key. And then taps Tanni's shoulder. "I'll be right outside."
Paren goes up and drops his key in the box and then goes to stand by the door.

Finan waits for a moment where he can catch Ombre by herself before walking up to her. He puts the key in the box,
