Paren moves forward to place the coin into the slot. "Might be best for the two of you to stand back. Just in case this isn't something we're meant to find and it's trapped." After they do he places the coin, readying himself to jump out of the way if anything happens.

"I can't say that I have, though to be fair I've been a bit preoccupied." Quentin pats the tome hanging from his hip to emphasize his point. "I do agree about looking further into this. Dwarven architecture that I've studied can stand the testament of time and most certainly wouldn't crumble on its own. There's also the bell. It was covered in Celestial writing and I'd like to try and examine it further as to what type of enchantment may have been on it. If everyone is finished eating I think we should gather the others and be on our way." As Quentin gets up from the table he feeds a small amount of meat to the owl on his shoulder and realizes he has yet to see Knok. He grabs some meats and bread for him. Poor fellow must have overslept.
"Well I think regardless," Jonathan says lightly dabbing a napkin to the side of his mouth. "We should make preparations for the day, and perhaps see what these might do here." He holds the duplicate square-notched coin in hand. "As I was going to tell the others before they left, there is a spot within the room I am staying in that seems like it could fit something like this perfectly on it; it is a strange part of the decor, but something that may have importance nonetheless."
He then stands up and looks to the staff, thanking them for the meal and enquiring about paying for another night or two pending his companion's actions this morning.
When Paren places the coin into the painting frame, it fits with ease. He can hear what sounds like hundreds of tiny gears within the frame moving as the coin falls into the frame and out of site. Slowly, the canvas itself begins to swing back into the wall revealing an opening big enough for a person to walk through. The space behind the picture frame is pitch black and those without dark vision will find it nearly impossible to see anything in here. You're unsure how long the entryway will stay open and you've lost your token to open it again. Those that can see into the room find that it is a twisted tunnel that curves sharply to the left and downward.
As you finish your breakfast, you feel rather refreshed. It was quite the meal prepared by Ombre and Renard. As they begin clearing the table, you begin to wonder how long it will take your companions to return.
Ombre looks to Jonathan and says, "The rooms are provided for the evenings. During the day, we tend to them so that the guest that evening will have a perfect stay. Once you've gathered up your belongings, we ask that you return the keys. If you so choose, you may return this evening and I will make sure we have space for you to stay again."The arrangement seems a bit odd but it is the way she handles business here in the Wishing Well.
As you all slowly finish up your breakfast, you begin to head back to your rooms. The hallway is silent as it often is. There is no sign of your companions.

"Ooooooh," Knok says with obvious enthusiasm as the portrait-door swings open, revealing the passage beyond. "This is exciting. Knok doesn't often get to explore underground passages that don't have bears sleeping in them. Are we going in? Because if we are, Knok needs to go get his sword and shield."

In his excitement at the possibilities, Knok moves to the door to the room and goes to open it. He fights against a resistance that hadn't been there before. The door is locked but Knok cannot determine by what. It must be some sort of mechanism that is separate from the deadbolt and knob. He appears to be locked in the room.
His feet almost nearly 12 full inches off the ground and braced on the door frame, and hands wrapped tightly around the door handle, Knok pulls with all his strength, calling back over his shoulder, "Hey, Not Us's, I think we're stuck in here..."

Hearing Knok try the door Paren will look at the door and then back to the passage. "Must be some sort of protection to trap the unsuspecting. Well. If we can't get out the door I guess our only way to go is through there."

The air behind the portrait seems rather stagnant and cool. Feeling rather trapped in the room at the moment, the three of you decide to venture into darkness to see where the tunnel leads. Finan watches the shapes of his two companions fade into darkness as they move into the tunnel
Knok and Paren begin walking to the dark tunnel noting that the tunnel is twisting on itself and descending down below the room. You come to a small room with a door ahead. The room is empty and is in complete darkness.
"Queer way to run an inn, hopefully there's still room in the evening," Tanni thinks to herself but doesn't think more of it. Instead, she turns to Jonathan: "If you think the coin really does something, mind if I tag along?"
Tanni, Falaine, Jonathan, Eira, Teren, and Quentin are able to finish up their breakfast as Ombre clears the table. They make their way back toward the rooms and gather their belongings as Ombre had mentioned. They notice that the hallway to the rooms is empty and the rooms they pass are quiet like they often are.
You call out while in the hallway but the sound doesn't echo like you'd normally expect. The materials used in the construction of this basement living space were designed to keep things quiet and are proving to be very effective. It takes a moment but you realize that he most likely hasn't heard your call.
To the best of those gathered here, they did not recall seeing the dwarf ever come out of the back after last night's incident with Ombre.
Paren moves forward to place the coin into the slot. "Might be best for the two of you to stand back. Just in case this isn't something we're meant to find and it's trapped." After they do he places the coin, readying himself to jump out of the way if anything happens.

Could I recall which room was his?
Everyone went to their rooms at separate times last night. You don't recall seeing which room he claimed as his own last night.
((You can roll a perception check to see if you noticed what key he obtained last night))
