You three go the alley and see it leads to a southern entrance of the town. But from there your lizard friend seems to have vanished. You see guards going around asking people if they heard things last noght arguing perhaps but so far they are just as perplexed as you.
The boy comes out and looks around the and shrugs having thought he heard something and heads back to town. You crawled up in the the shadows of the roof on the porch and see him make his way back into the town taking his cloak off as he goes.
Durmatl smiles a toothy grin, enjoying the thrill of being out here, close but undetected. He decides, with the boy heading back to town anyway, to follow once more. Perhaps this 'lead' that the boy would pick up would lead to something interesting that he could show to the others later.
Once again Bethozus follows them. "I'm sorry, but... you mentioned disturbing dreams, yes? I had one as well.. perhaps we can look into this together?"
"Contrary to what I'd like to do, the sensible part of me thinks we should follow him too." She looks to the others, her fists clenched in her pockets. She knows her being angry makes other people scared. "What I'd like to do is go over and intimidate him until he talks. But I know that's probably not a popular opinion."
"Actually", Zanryn grins mirthlessly, showing off his pointed teeth, "That is almost exactly what I was thinking we should do". He looks around for somewhere discreet to haul the unsuspecting lad off to for a good old-fashioned talking to. "Sounds like that is more your forté". Privately, he thinks that Zydalia could do with venting off a little of her anger and preferably on someone else than him.
Zydalia's lips twitch into a smile at Zanryn's words. "I'm pleased to hear you say so." It's nice to hear that people can recognise her strengths. She casts Thaumaturgy, conjures the sound of a clattering pan in the alleyway, behind the boy's ear, yet not loud enough to cause a ruckus in the square, hoping he'll turn to look at it and momentarily get distracted. Not checking either way, she grabs his upper arm and tries to haul him back to the alleyway like a mother might pull their child back from the edge of the road.
Strength, maybe? 6.
Plus stealth, so it's not so obvious to passers-by - 9.
Can Zanryn use the help action to grant advantage on the roll?
You can lend your aid to another creature in the completion of a task. When you take the Help action, the creature you aid gains advantage on the next ability check it makes to perform the task you are helping with, provided that it makes the check before the start of your next turn.
AS you try to pull him deeper into the ally his training kicks in and he reverses the grab holding Zydalia against him with a dagger to her throat.
"What are you doing trying to kidnap me too?" He eyes you lot with suspicion abound on his face. "Where did you take her? Where did you lot take Elizabeth?"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
> Second strength roll (first was 6): 4 > OR a re-roll with advantage - whatever you're happier to take. 5 > Edit: !!!! how did it get worse?!
(OOC: You're rubbish! Or did my helping you make you worse? If so, we're both rubbish!)
Seeing the evil boy pull a dagger, Zanryn is filled with the kind or rage only one who is nearly 3-and-a-half feet tall can express.
DC 14 Con save or take 3 necrotic damage (Halo of Spores*) Initiative: 11 Bonus action: Shillelagh Attack: 5 Damage: 17 (with the intention to incapacitate a foe, rather than deal a killing blow, per PHB)
*Starting at 2nd level, you are surrounded by invisible, necrotic spores that are harmless until you unleash them on a creature nearby. When a creature you can see moves into a space within 10 feet of you or starts its turn there, you can use your reaction to deal 1d4 necrotic damage to that creature unless it succeeds on a Constitution saving throw against your spell save DC. The necrotic damage increases to 1d6 at 6th level, 1d8 at 10th level, and 1d10 at 14th level.
(Raven- did Bethozus have the same dream?)
(yes he did.)

Once again Bethozus follows them. "I'm sorry, but... you mentioned disturbing dreams, yes? I had one as well.. perhaps we can look into this together?"
Zanryn considers this. His innate racial prejudice aside, they were all outsiders in this town so it made sense for them to band together.
“Yes”, he replies tersely, “you’re very welcome”. He adds more thoughtfully, “Not that we seem to have much to go on.”
As you stand around you see the captains son reenter the square with Durmatle in tow still tracking.
Zaryn gives Zydalia a friendly nudge, "Look who's back". Without overly drawing attention to himself, he tries to catch Durmatl's eye.
Zydalia desperately wants to go towards Durmatl but knows that would draw the boy's attention.
"Shall we speak to the boy? Or shall we leave Durmatl to it?"

Observing the way that Durmatl is moving, Zanryn surmises that the boy is unaware of the Lizardfolk following him. He communicates as much to Zydalia.

(Edit: 'Tis truly the Night of the Crap Rolls)
the roll was to see if he did worse on strength than you. you can resist and roll another one if you like.
Zydalia resists the boy's grip and tries to get the upper hand on him.
Strength roll: 5
Edit: what...the...hell....
"I think it's us that should be asking the questions, kiddo" she retorts. "Where did you take Elizabeth?"
