Badger emerges from the tunnel to find a confusing picture of spiders attacking people, people attacking spiders, and spiders attacking spiders. Unsure exactly what this means, he crouches by the side of the pit and watches tensely, holding his crystal orb and preparing to fire. Then recognising one spider as the very same he rode on the back of up this very tower only a short time earlier, and seeing it now being targeted by the zealous paladin, Badger quickly creates an illusion of a shield with the symbol of Tyr, placing it as best he can between the paladin and the spider...

How does a red dragon blow out the candles on its birthday cake?
Kasaaptu slumps down, relieved the fight is over. She barely survived that ambush, the rush of life from frying that first spider made a huge difference. At first she didn't recognize the spell, and then the memory of the night her powers first manifested came rushing back. the night She burned her first love to death in a barn. It seems like so long ago. This time it was different. It was controlled, directed....And on purpose. She will crawl out of the pit and sit next to Krull who has taken his true form as imp. He will pat her on the back and tell her She did well
The moment before Sir Darak brings his blade down on the remaining spider the symbol of Tyr manifests across the creature. He pauses, as he realizes the truth that he nearly attacked Sickle. The rush of battle, the darkness of the cave, the chaos of so many spiders, and arriving late to the melee were easily enough for him to make a mistake.
With the battle over, the rush of blood subsides. Badger informs everyone that there is a chimney wide enough for a person to crawl up that goes straight up from the cave behind.

Silas sigh as he cancels his light stone before turning to group in the dark, "How is everyone? If poisoned, i think you should be fine in an hour or two if they're similar to ones we encountered in the forest. Sickle, I only have healing word today, do you have something stronger for Kasaaptu?"

" I think a short rest might be warranted so spells can be recovered for the next stage. I will have Krull crawl up the chimney when we are ready. If there are spiders, he informs me their poison wont harm him. He can tell us if this is a better option for stealth, then the ladders outside. Maybe no guards over the chimney "
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Sickle will drop spider form and answer Silas, “I can aid her.” He walks over to Kasaaptu, raising an eyebrow at Sir Darak as he crosses the pit. He kneels next to her for a moment, closing his eyes, muttering something indistinguishable, and drawing on a power older than the gods. A dull green glow briefly emanates from his hand and some of Kasaaptu bites close up.
”Should we search the area further before heading upward?”
When the party is ready to proceed, If they are climbing up the chimney, Sickle will assume spider form again, this time, with a strange marking on his abdomen (back), which seems like some sort of sigil (that of his father’s house in Mirabar). Before he does, he will pointedly announce himself, solemnly saying, “I’m going to assume the form of these beasts again. It’s handy for moving about this place quickly, and it allows me to take some additional damage in a fight. Please, try not to be afraid.” He will then shoot a grin at Sir Darak, then clamber up the chimney.
The group takes an hour to rest, checking on the spider bites and the poison. The cave is dry, and large dark crevices are watched with suspicion. Smaller spiders crawl about the space. A scorpion the size of a mouse, clambers across the ceiling. Moths flit to and fro. The warmth of the jungle doesn't penetrate the cave far and it's relatively cool in these dark spaces, which for those wearing armor is a welcome relief.
Krull clambers up the chimney, using hops, grabs, and wings to ascend. The space is cobweb filled, and home to many normal sized spiders, a few small lizards that scuttle along walls, as well as numerous other small creepy crawly's. Krull snaps a few up as a meal as he goes, enjoying the crunch in his mouth, and the squirming little legs tickling his tongue. Almost 100 feet of ascending, he creeps out of the chimney that ends in the floor of another dark cave. He creeps through it. It's a small cave system with a small chamber, a larger chamber with ten foot high ceilings, and a mouth entrance that reaches outside. The wind that buffets into the space in gusts feels quite a bit stronger than the wind that was present lower down.
In the large chamber with the high ceilings he spots several stirges clinging to the ceiling. As well, a desiccated corpse lays on the far wall. Something shiny can be seen through some tatters of clothing. The body looks to be very old, but he can't get a great look without passing under the stirges.
Yroc is momentarily unsure if he should chuckle or wince at the group attacking one of their own. There were enough dangers out here without them attacking eachother, but then sometimes in fights between the Orc clans such a thing had happened as well.
During the rest he takes a moment to look up the chimney, his skin already crawling at the prospect of having to climb up through it. "It'll be out of sight of the Pterafolk, at least." he mumbles before returning to the spot he'd chosen to sit down and rest, his boots crunching the sand and grit under his feet.
He then muses about the situation further up the spire. "I could attempt to scare whatever is up there away with an illusion, make something big and nasty appear to crawl out of the chimney, for example?"
Badger spends the hour recovering his mental faculties (Arcane Recovery for one slot). While Yertle scampers around nearby searching for small bugs, Badger peers deeply into his crystal globe, searching for new insights. None come, although when the inverted image of Kasaaptu seated nearby is refracted in the orb, the thought of plush velvet pierces his mind like a purple spear.
Having sufficiently rested, Badger then shimmies up the chimney after Krull, and waits quietly in a corner in the small chamber while Krull scouts ahead (unless the chamber is spherical, in which case there are no corners)

Sickle is grateful for the rest, and spends most of it meditating on their surroundings, feeling power flow through him and strengthen him. (Natural Recovery, 1 level 2 spell slot, and Wild Shape recovered)
Kasaaptu will report that Krull discovered a corpse with an object of interest and the fact there are bloodsucking sturges hanging overhead. We could possibly wipe them out with a sneak attack if we can get up there without stirring them.
The stirges room is a different cave than where the chimney leads to, so the group can ascend, and then safely decide how to deal with the stirges. Also, you do give this other cave a good search before continuing and don't find anything of interest.
The spider with a unique pattern on it's back crawls up the chimney, followed by the gnome who climbs it with ease, using a combination of foot holds, hand holds, and body presses across the chimney's width.
The rest of the group ascends after them. It's a rather gruelling climb, 90 feet in a cramped vertical tunnel, but it's winding enough and has a few level spots to rest, that everyone makes it without issue. A small cave tunnel leads away, past the stirges room to the outside of the tower. The whistling sound of wind is a constant here.

Yroc agrees with Kasaaptu. "I can get up close with them fast. Even if we don't wipe them, they might be spooked into fleeing. Of course, if they do flee and there's no other way up, they might attack us during the next leg of the climb on the outside."
From his relative darkness Silas whispers, "Since we must make it pass them to move forward, I think I should go first. I have great doubt of my ability to move silently and it would just be waste if you made it pass them only for me to fail. Ideally we should let sleeping creatures sleep especially when bigger ones are about but be ready just in case. How many can you count?"
