Badger privately scoffs at the suggestion that any magic item could dominate HIS mind. That kind of warning is meant for lesser intellects, he thinks as he reaches subconsciously for his rod. But still, better to be cautious, for the sake of the others.
Perhaps it best that you not tempt the weak by revealing it, but instead tell us of its power. How came ye by it, and why do the giants seek it?
To expedite the questioning, Badger will try out a spell he's been secretly developing since the incident with Yroc trying to steal his magic rod. Speaking an incantation while holding a copper coin to his head, Badger can read the answers directly out of Ham's mind rather than having him write. If anyone wants to ask a question, Badger can recite the answer - for the next 60 seconds.

“Agreed with Badger, perhaps tell us what this ring does, and why the giants want it.?”
To Silas, Sickle will say, “I’m ok with pushing west, but we also discussed making our way to the Aarakocra to the south to take them up on their offered blessing, whatever that meant.”
Badger casts his spell, and begins sensing a bubbling commotion of thoughts amongst the creature. He continues to scan the group, and as he does so, he seems to be wondering if each person is evil. He continually looks to Sir Darak in confusion.
Badger asks his question. His mind shifts to thoughts of Artus, his friend. You smell Roses. Artus was wearing it on his finger, and then....gave it Ham right before being captured by the Frost Giants, but he can't speak to these creatures and tell them. Ham shrugs outwardly. Why do the giants seek it? Brimstone. He's not sure, though it is a powerful, evil, ring aligned with the forces of cold, so it would make sense the Frost giants would want it. Wood smoke. He stands there motionless.
Sickle asks what the ring does. His mind moves to thinking about winter in the jungle, he thinks about giant ice fists, and rays of ice, and animated ice creatures. But it's dangerous. Violets. He stands there silently.

"We have come all this way east, I agree that it would be a little detour to get to the Aarakocra from here. Flying would be uh... beneficial." The moments of the terrible drop flash once more before his eyes. Despite the heat, cold sweat takes him for a brief second before it once again is replaced by the ever-pressent oppressing heat. With a dark growl he swings his head towards the direction of the Aarakocra nest, then back to the group. The dino-man and the zombie-woman are unwelcome additions to the group in his eyes. Anything dealing with undead makes his skin crawl, and the dino-man has yet to prove himself a worthy member. It smells of it's equivalent of fear more than anything, and this constant show of weakness is wearing on him.
A part of him wants to simply test and compare the weakness to that of the members of the group by seeing the ring, but he respects powerful magic artifacts. He has no intention of being consumed by it, so he is fine with it being hidden.
Kasaaptu will suggest, " maybe going to see the Naga would be more beneficial then trekking around blindly. Badger, maybe you can see if Ham knows something about the lost city of Omu."
She will also check on our supply levels, both food and bug lotion, if getting low she will further suggest " we might want to consider stopping in Port Castilgar to resupply if we decide to go to see the Naga wise woman"
Badger regrets that his nascent mind-reading powers have a limited duration, and he will have to attempt further questions later. Otherwise, Kasaaptu can ask Ham to revert to writing answers.

Badger manages to get one more answer before the spell ends. Brimstone. He does not know where Omu is though he has heard the name before.
Its been almost 3 weeks since you left. I’m not sure how much food you have. Please confirm each of you for me. You have plenty of bug repellent. I think you got close to 2 months each. Lol. Water is fine.

If rations are low, Sickle will begin preparing and casting Goodberry daily to satisfy their growling stomachs until they can reach somewhere with provisions. He will encourage the others not to eat them until end of day so they can be sure of having a way to revive people (assuming DM would allow feeding of good berries to unconscious people).
Azaka speaks up, "I've not been to Kir Sabal, so I can't give you much advice on that front. Ishau is an ancient city that sank beneath the water. I've heard tell that sea hags and water dinosaurs patrol the waters. Being on the coast and relatively accessible I believe divers have been there somewhat frequently. It's pretty far from the nearest large city still. Port Castigliar is not what it sounds to be. There's no real port, and it was more of a supply base for exploration along a white beach. But the undead have long since destroyed it. It's not sufficiently fortified to remain undisturbed. I'd not recommend we go there. If we want to go to Fort Vengeance or Fort Righteous, it'll be about 2 weeks of walking. Kir Sabal is 10 days south. It's about the same amount of time to get back to Port Nyanzaru, in case you were interested in restocking. From Port Nyanzaru, it's about six days by canoe to get to Fort Righteous. So, dropping back by Port Nyanzaru and canoeing down River Sochenstar is about the same amount of time as just heading through the bush to Port Nyanzaru. Final point, if your quest really is to 'explore' the jungle, then cutting across land will definitely result in more exploration. If we have to start hunting and foraging our pace will slow."
Gregory and Sedrik stay silent. Boris says, "Supplies are low, going back through Port Nyanzaru makes a lot of sense."
Both Ham and the undead offer no input and stand silently watching the discussion.
Hammu chews some weeds loudly, then gets too close to the undead, sniffs unhappily, and moves away to another bush, where he continues to eat at leaves. Otherwise he offers no input.
SO, OPTIONS:
1) Fort Righteous or Vengeance via jungle : 15 days walking. (assuming no hunting / foraging)
2) Fort Righteous via Port Nyanzaru and canoe : 16 days of travel
3) Kir Sabal : 10 days walking
So far it sounds like Silas and Kasaaptu vote #1. Yroc votes for #3. Sickle seems ok with either path.
Sir Darak / Badger? Do either of you wish to add anything?
I think we all agree on going to Righteous/Vengeance, it's just how. Of the three options:
1) Going directly there from here. This takes us back past Firefinger, the way we came. No resupply options and least new area to explore. 2) Going via Nyanzaru. Allows us to resupply. We will cover some new ground, although most of it in relatively well-known areas by the look of it. 3) Going via Kir Sabal. Presumably we can resupply there. We will cover lots of new ground in more remote areas, so good exploration. And ... Flying!
All options seem about the same in total travel time. But option #3 is the most appealing to the gnome.

"Not all those who wander are lost." - J.R.R. Tolkien
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Her undead vision was a strange thing. Blacks, whites, and greys, and a sense of where things lie that was somehow outside of her body. The colors were there, faintly, but drab and bereft of all vitality. She watched the group as they marched ahead through the jungle. Kasaaptu, last in line, looked back and checked on her frequently, but the stench of her rotting body was too much to have her walking in their midst. This situation was beyond strange, and though these people were all strangers, and clearly put off by her undead body, treating her as less than a real person, she really had no where else to go. She might be able to toss herself off a cliff or impale herself on a branch...and that may end her existence, but then her soul would continue its quick journey to this soul monger where it would presumably be consumed. No, her enemy was whomever was devouring souls. And whoever it was, also was the enemy of these folks. And so, the enemy of my enemy as they say. So, shambling along behind this group was her lot, struggling to keep her bone grinding undead legs keeping up with the pace. The dinosaur pack animal never seemed to take one of its eyes off of her, expecting her to attack at any moment. She let its natural and unnecessary fear amuse her, her bloated broken lips smiling occasionally as it tried its hardest to sense any danger from her.
The trip to Kir Sabal begun, the group followed the river Olung south, the land slowly climbing above vast cliffs far above the river's canyon. The jungle hung off the edge of the cliffs, branches overhanging, vines hanging down, and vegetation clinging to the sides of the rocky walls. deep grooves cut there way down the canyon walls in spots where rain run-off was eating away new canyons. A light rain begins to fall shortly into their trip but Azaka deems it to minimal to collect water and the group continues on. Rivulets of water wind through the jungle under your feet as you march. Azaka spots a massive Anklyosaurus off to one side chewing on plants. The creature is massive, its spiky shell on its back, and huge round ball on the end of its tail looks like it could crush a person with one swing. Following Azaka's lead, you circle around giving it a wide berth. His sniffs and huffs a few times, raising its head, but then resumes eating.
The jungle continues winding up and down, through ravines and along ridges. The cliffs on the edge of the river canyon not always in site as Azaka tries to pick a reasonable path that Hammu can make.
The heat climbs after the daily rain, people continue to sweat in their armor as they trudge through the jungle. Swarms of bugs float lazily in the tree tops leaving the group alone. You pass by snakes, occasional spiders the size of a cat hanging in lonely webs, and plenty of smaller wild animals that skitter off through the bushes.
It's just about noon and you're considering a stop. You're picking your way through some pretty thick bush, with Azaka slashing her way along. The trees overhead reach fairly high into the air leaving a lot of open space above you under the canopy free from branches or leaves. Azaka stops hacking through the bushes. She's up a slight hill from the rest of you and turns, sweating, to look back at the group. Her eyes dart to the left and right, and then she yells, "There's something in the bushes around us!!!"
The bushes around you explode with movement as velociraptors begin emerging from the bushes on either side!
Everyone roll init. Velociraptor init: 22. If you go before the Velociraptor, take your action.
Terrain is normal terrain, but the raptors have quite a bit of cover from ranged attacks due to the bushes they're amongst.
