In a lower, yet strong voice, Hadar says while taking his trusty rope off Mori,"Tunist. No. Calm Down."
Survival Check (for some reason, Hadar's perfect hehehee) = 9
(OOC: He can't roll worth anything, but still awesome.)
Hadar is able to blindly work through the fog, albeit at a less than efficient pace. The greatest challenge will be finding the strength to re-insert the plug into the door with all of the sand and very little time. The poison is still pumping through his veins in hot, spiky bursts, keeping him partially distracted.
He hears Leann's footfalls running closer as he attempts to move the heavy objects, straining with all of his might.
Untying the Man was the action - we'll apply the Athletics check when you move the crate next turn, if that happens.
(OOC: I would question how many actions he gets per round though. Untieing a rope from a body takes an action, tieing the rope to the door takes and action, and putting the door into place takes an action...)
Leann gets her bearings and orients to where the door should be. She will then dash towards it, hoping to get outside. At any point that she is worried about being targeted by someone she will drop the cloth from around her hand, plunging the area round her back into darkness again.
Leann runs about half way through the hall before hitting the dense fog. Running straight on through an area with no crates, she is able to make it to the doorway of Great Hall unhindered, bumping her shoulder against the frame.
She stands another 10 feet from the edge of the fog, which is radiating off of Hadar himself.
I'll consider you dropping the cloth a held reaction to being confronted until you deem otherwise.
Baku continues to heed her master's orders as it scouts the drider's location, disengaging from the monstrosity's reach if she needs to while maintaining a good distance of ten feet under the cover of smoke.
Tunist comes out of the fog rump-first, dragging Mordecai's body by his arm.
Rob, Eriana and Kat arrive at the edge of the fog cloud, keeping a careful distance. Seeing Tunist's find, they give each other terrified looks... Rob runs to his uncle's side, seeing the strangulation marks and the old man's contorted form.
Kat shouts to Ashissa - "What the hell is going on in there? What are you attacking?"
Tunist glances up at the three, panting and growling. She then takes off at a full tilt run, heading back into the cloud and reaching the other side. She slides to a halt, seeing the massive Drider turn towards the fog as Leann makes her dash.
The few other townspeople are nowhere to be seen, and muffled sounds are coming from the Wellhouse. The sand being tossed from inside has completely stopped and there the smell of burnt ozone and sulfur are becoming apparent in the air between the Hall and the small building.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ashissa moves thirty feet forward the insect-like monstrosity for more of her other spells to be effective before firing again a devastating beam of crackling energy.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Ashissa's bolt flies true, sizzling against the Drider's skin and eliciting a low laugh. "This fly is becoming vexing with it little bites..."
It looks down as it sees Tunist exit the fog and smirks at the startled animal, launching forward and bounds over her head into the fog. It charges past Leann and Hadar without even sensing them in the fog, and gallops through the sand, exiting the other side of the fog.
The light burns as it squints and quickly glances around, sheathing its long sword and nocking an arrow on its bow, still held in its offhand. As its eyes adjust, it sees Rob and Eriana to the right, taken completely off-guard, and Kat opens her eyes wide in horror as she sees what she is running towards.
Finally, it sees Ashissa defiantly holding her ground, the source of the burns on his skin. It can tell she is the immediate threat from the way she stands with confidence, and chooses her as its target.
It expertly lines up its shot, but its eyes are still burning and it may not be as confident as she in its attacks!
In a flurry of movement, it fires 3 arrows at devastating speed, all flying toward the Warlock.
Rolling Attacks at Disadvantage due to the bright sunlight.
"**** this guy," Hadar thinks, as he gives up on retying the plug and trapping him inside.
Instead, Hadar fashions the rope into a lasso with the loop just big enough to slip around someone of his size. He then gathers what's left of his wits and takes off.
Just when he sees the Drider's behind through the fog, he tries to leap onto his back (using a spider leg for a step, if needed), slide his legs around his lower abdomen, hook his feet around whatever he can find, and slip the lasso over its head at close range.
Hadar's current speed is 40ft
Athletics Check at disadvantage for high jump = 10 (using inspiration to cancel out the disadvantage)
If successful, Attack Roll in hopes of grappling it with the rope = 16 (with disadvantage)
(OOC: FFS Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo lolz This is gonna be so bad.)
Hadar leaps into the air and presses his foot against the Drider's leg, pushing again to mount the beast's back... and feels his foot slip across the smooth exoskeleton before he begins his inevitable fall. As he descends to the sand below, he feels the Drider's rough hair rasp against him and takes a few good bruises, landing beneath the spidery carapace.
The eight huge legs surround him like a cage of obsidian and he has sand is in all sorts of uncomfortable places. Looking up at the bulbous form above him, he can see the creature gasping the dry air in and out through innumerable holes along its abdomen as it twitches and jerks at this strange turn of events.
As Hadar checks his surroundings, he notices that there are shimmering silhouettes growing closer against the hot sand, and cries of excitement can be heard from all sides.
The 3 North Tower guards, 2 South Tower Guards and Kat have entered initiative, following Ashissa. Rob and Eriana are frozen in place, gripping the edge of the Great Hall in terror.
Leann moves out to confront the spider creature in the daylight. She pulls her sword out of its sheath, glad she used her offhand to pick up the figure earlier. She uses her hexblades curse on the spider thing as she closes with it, and then swings her sword at the thing, casting booming blade.
Attack: 23 Damage: 4
If it hits the spider is encased in thunder energy and takes damage if he moves.
(add 4 to that damage, as it takes an extra 2 from criting on the 19 and +2 from the hexblade's curse, sorry forgot to add the second and do not know how to add the crit on 19.)
Baku moves toward the drider as it already left the cloud of fog and hovers on top of it as far as possible as his tiny wings can take her.
Meanwhile, Ashissa takes advantage of the drider's weakness as she moves enough to make a sixty feet distance between them and attempts to implant a grand illusion at its mind.
"Be humbled under the might of a celestial!"
She utters an incantation and shows her orb emitting a radiant light forming into a wall obscuring a ten by ten feet area of the ground where she stands. An exalting hymn of trumpets and lyre plays followed by the sound of beating wings at the background as an imposing angel rises from the light and flies above the ground, deftly aiming its ornate bow at the monstrosity.
Tunist sees the Drider leap over him into the fog and barks several times, continuing her run to the back of the Hall. She grabs a corpse by its arm and begins dragging it as quickly as possible, making it back to the edge of the fog.
The Drider looks up from the scene below it, Hadar rolling around in the sand beneath while Leann slashes away at its legs and sees Ashissa run back to the rocky edge of the Eastern wall of the chasm. As her orb begins to glow, the creature feels an invasive force begin probing its mind and shakes its head, trying to clear its growing confusion.
Intelligence Save - 2
(OOC - there is not 60 feet between the Great Hall and the Eastern wall of the Canyon, so you’ve moved about to the end of your 30 foot speed and stand against the canyon wall)
It looks on in confused awe as a celestial being rises before it and squints its largest set of eyes against the radiant glory of its appearance.
It curls its lip and snarls, then lets out a throaty roar, spittle flying from its jaws as it screams its defiance.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
As the blade seemingly flies true and firm, it bounces away from Leann, a magic energy blocking its progress. At the same moment, the monstrosity feels a freezing spike shoot up its arm, burning its skin deeply.
Armor of Agathys effect.
It hisses and drops the blade, jumping over Hadar and running 10 feet to the left to try and dodge the Angel’s incoming arrow. As soon as it moves, its whole body shakes with a thunderous boom!
Booming Blade - 6
Leann's sword solidly connects with the already damaged leg of the Drider as it makes its exit, severing it completely. Green puss and purplish froth bubble from the stump, spraying across Leann's face and dripping down to Hadar's prone form. It takes the damage without more than a wince, settling its weight across its seven other legs as it moves on.
As it lands, ears ringing, leg throbbing and teeth chattering, it shakes off the thunder and quickly reaches to its quiver, nocking an arrow and letting it fly at the Angel.
Attack 22
The Drider's arrow fires wide of the illusion and it curses its luck, glancing to the left as the 3 North tower guards approach.
