So I make that 37 damage (1/2 of 22 and all of 26), halved again for Absorb Elements -> 18 damage - 9 hp regained, so 9 fire damage.
Solomon raises his shield to block the inferno rushing towards him. His shield appears to absorb some of the flames, glowing red hot for a second, before cooling almost as quickly. The eldritch knight glances at the charred figure in the cage for a split-second, dreading finding out who it might be, before charging the hellhounds with a roar, swinging his sword at the snarling heads of the beasts.

Casting Absorb Elements as a reaction, using Second Wind as a bonus action. I realise that the damage part of Absorb Elements won't work on the hellhounds because they're immune to fire, so I've omitted it from the RP.
Brocc steps into the room and, holding up his blast scepter he casts thunderwave at the two hell hounds.
DC is Con 16
Damage is 27 and knocked away from Brocc ten feed on failed save. Half damage on successful save and not knocked back.
He would then use any remaining movement to back out of the room again.
Tennezaz will fire two crossbow bolts at them as he keeps to the ceiling thanks to the help of his new foot wear.
