After a while of playing dice, drinking tankards of ale, and winning some of the three's coins, the aged hunter tells them the following...
"Be up der all righ..." The hunter informs you after getting asked about the haunted house. "Wandered in da back door ya see..." He said with a grim nod. "Wa hoping ta find some food ya see. Taught der mighten be som of da wine still in de celler..." He paused then and the two sailors rolled their eyes. "Now don't be telling yer stories gain..." One of them mutters. "Be in der ya knowin it..." The old hunter tells the sailor. "Righten through da back door inta da kitchen and righten up ta da celler stairs..." He glanced around as everyone was clearly listening to him now. "Dat's when da vampire came up da stairs, with a horde of em rats wit em... Em be wit da long vampire teeth en all ye know it. Be sure I be runnin fer me life ye know it."
The hunter, after a few questions, is able to tell the group about a well in the yard, the back door to the house, a vague description of a kitchen, and a stairway that leads down into a celler. No matter what else is asked this is all he knows, or at least that you can get him to talk about.
The Sailors leave as the conversation finishes, clearly unhappy about the talk of the haunted house, and the barkeep walks over and confronts the hunter.
"I be tellin ye not ta be tellin yer tales in ere..." The barkeep informs the hunter. "Ye no be welcome in ere fer two weeks." He says, and hauls the hunter out and sends him on his way. when he returns he glares at the group. "Be ye gone or ye be goin ta be barred from me place as well." He walks back to the bar and ignores you as he goes about washing his countertop with an already filthy rag.
GRAHL TO THE GROUP: “Well, I’m guessin’ that’s that...I definitely can’t afford to be barred from the tavern, that fer sure! Suppose we should be makin’ our way back to the tower? I’ll be needin’ to grab the rest o’ me things if’n we are to depart tonight, but I’m thinkin’ maybe we should sleep it off and get a fresh start in the mornin’...”
Grahl clasps hands with the sailors and thanks them for their company, “Well met mates! And you’ll have to give me the chance to win back some of me losses sometime! Sorry about all the haunted house talk...just a bunch of drunks tellin’ stories is all!”
(OOC: Grahl’s parting words to the sailors is also a coded message in Thieves’ Cant: “If ye’v more to tell but don’t want to say it here, meet me at the tower near the graveyard on the edge of town.” He is unsure if either of them speak the secret roguish language.)
EDIT: Grahl will leave 1 gp on the bar as he leaves to pay for the drinks he bought for himself and the others plus tip for the barkeep.
"Ahh, alright barkeep we will leave," he says holding his hands up to show him he isn't trying anything. He slips a gold coin out of his pocket and puts in on the counter. "For your trouble," he says with a smile heading towards the door he pulls out a fresh sheet of parchment writing in it he says, "Alright let's head out and let him tend to his bar in peace, we have other matters to attain to."
GRAHL TO THE GROUP: “The locals got pretty skittish when we started askin’ bout that haunted place...I was just startin’ to catch a buzz when the bartender threw us out! Whatever’s up there has this town pretty spooked, that’s fer sure!”
After having a suprisingly good time, the hunter finally provided them with the first bit of information about the haunted house. Truth be told the mention of a vampire made Alek quite nervous. These creatures are not to be trifled with as they are leathal foes. The sorcerer turned to the group after they were collectively ushered out of the inn, "Grahl probably has a point. The townfolk seems quite reluctant to share information relating to this haunted house and we should try to respect that if we are to find some more work around here. We should head back to the tower with the information we got and prepare to finally investigate the place itself. If our source is correct and its really a vampire, we should definitely go there during the day. If only to get a better picture of the place before we confront the creature."
The kobold nods emphatically at the others words and suggestions; going back to the tower to recoup and make sure they were all equipped and ready seemed a good idea, and the townsfolk didn't seem to be taking kindly to their questioning (despite having hired them to help. 'That is strange now that Dezlo is thinking about it...hmm.', she thought. She crawled yet again back into er saddle to follow her longer-legged companions wherever they chose to lead.
"Dezlo is agreeing we should be most prepared before taking care of the job. It is probably just some beasties that scared the townsfolk - maybe a new creature has been wanderings into the area they aren't familiar with? Fisherfolk like to be telling tales after all; actually, Dezlo is thinking it strange that this fishy folk is not wanting to be telling us anything. Is usually hard to get people who work on boats to shut up about they tales, yes? Something is being fishy in this town and Dezlo is thinking it is not the actual fish!"
GRAHL TO THE GROUP: “Our little orange friend here is right...spent most me life on the deck of a pi-, err sailin’ ship an’ there’s few things that lot likes to do more than to see who can tell the tallest tale. Most of it is just bluster and hogwash, but when they fall silent, well, that’s when you should really listen...a sailor is usually pretty quiet when it concerns the truth...”
When the group all arrives back at the tower they find Quilla waiting in the main conference table area. She has a pretty human woman with her. The human woman has dark brown hair that is nearly black, and has just that innocent, and pure look to her that just makes you want to be around her, since it raises your spirits no matter the situation. She has the gem pendant Quilla was wearing previously around her own neck now. Quilla herself looks a bit put out and is fairly cool with the group as they get back.
"I assume you had a good reason to leave without allowing me to be part of a vote..." She says truckulantly as she looks over the group. She shrugs then, clearly not really wanting an answer to that. "Are friend Palisade was called away to Home Office, something about needing him to work with a special assignment or something." She looks a bit put out, as if she wanted to be given that assignment instead. With a shake of her head she glances around at the group of you. "Due to Palisade being called back to Head Office, I had to recruit a new person for your franchise." She nods towards the new human woman.
"This is Belle Sunbeam." Quilla says, introducing the young woman. "She is going to be taking over my role as Secretarian, and I will be taking over Palisade's role as Decisionist." Quilla looks very pleased with this turn of events, actually giving the pendant around Belle's neck a relieved look.
"Hello." Belle says to the group. "I hope to get to know you all, but will go over the details I was given by Quilla when I get a chance."
"Now, back to the matter at hand." Quilla says, drawing attention back to her. Belle gives the bronze-haired woman a quick glare, clearly not liking the attention being pulled away from her, but it is a fleeting look. "What did you find out in town?" Quilla asks the group.
Belle settles back as Quilla takes over the meeting. She gives the rest of the group a smile of welcome and twirls some of her hair in her fingers as she waits for the details of what was found out in town.
One thing was for sure, the newest addition to the group looked way more pleasant than the warforged that had just left their party. "I think I speak for the whole group when I welcome you to our little operation Belle.", Alek gave her a friendly nod before turning his attention to Quilla. "Well our investigations were not that fruitful to be honest. At least we know where to find that haunted house now. The townfolk smeed very reluctant to speak about the whole matter, but one of the locals claimed that he saw a vampire there. Could be drunken boasting, could be true. To find out we will eventually need to investigate the place itself." His companions mostly viewed the story of the hunter as drunken nonsense. Alek was not that sure about it. Something strange has to be going on with this house, if the whole town refuses to talk about the smallest details.

She pulls out her coin of decisionary and glances around the room. "Before we call it a night, let's vote on the matter..." She puts her coin on the table. "I vote for you going to the Haunted House and seeing if you can find out what is going on there." She glances over to Belle. "Please cast your vote Belle."
"Sure." Belle says, digging a coin from her pocket. "I vote yes." She says, laying it on the table.
"A vote?" A voice asks then. From the door that leads to the kitchen a man wearing cleric's robes walks through, a kitchen towel over his shoulder. He On his robes is the symbol of Kelemvor. He nods to the group. "Marvin Holdbell at your service." He says to the group. He then notices the towel still on his shoulder. "Sorry..." He says removing it. "I am your cook and Occultant..." He says with a nod to Quilla. "What's the vote on this time?" He asks.
"Going to the Haunted House." Belle pipes up with a bright and sunny smile for the cleric.
"Oh, then sure." Marvin says, putting his token on the table as well.
