Hello all. I'm pretty new to DMing, and have experience with only one game prior in that role, and am looking to buff out that part of my resume.
I'll be recruiting for a new game and am looking for 4-5 players. Either post or message me with a character sheet and a little bit of backstory.
You can either roll for stats or take standard array, reroll ones once. You can choose starting gold or equipment (pm me a list of your purchases with the gold if you choose this option)
I understand full well that people have lives, so no prob if you can't update every day, but 2-4 times a week is preferable.
The campaign will be one I've been spitballing for a while now, and may be subject to tweaks.
Thank you, and I look forward to hearing from you!
setting:
The lands of Sand and Honey.
The adventure begins in a small mountainous region called the Kingdom of Erstwyyl. Erstwyyl has been under strict isolationist guidelines for over a thousand years, with strict borders, and natural defenses in the mountains surrounding the region, the kingdom in the valley has been at peace, with comfortable safety, at the cost of stagnation. This hasn't stopped EVERYTHING from getting in however, (explaining any number of character's backstories).
The most recent king, Eudious the Magnanimous; has taken the stance of trying to repeal the kingdom's isolationist laws and mentality, and has organized a provincial trade caravan to venture into the outside world. The guards of the caravan are comprised of some professional soldiers, but the king has allowed a contest to be held for the remaining seats on the caravan, as a means of popularizing it, as well as gaining some eyes into the outside world not in the clutches of any of the noble houses.
Name: Atallia Human Monk, Far traveler Neutral Good.
Atallia was a shepherdess who led a good life tending to her flock. She faced an arranged marriage in her home and so fled across the wilderness. She is seeking a purpose in her life.
Grim grew up in a rough neighborhood of dog-eat-dog. He found he was strong, and mean enough to keep from being stepped on by everyone, and the Darlow crime Family noticed, too. He was recruited into their ranks to be muscle. But he’s still looking out for number 1. He’ll do what’s needed to get rich, and the only good ally is a strong ally.
(Not going to be an edge-lord, just looking to give him some motivations)
Backstory: Between the sixth and final layers of Mount Celestia is a bridge of light. The one who guards this bridge is a solar named Xerona, who judges who is allowed to cross into Chronias, the final layer. Thasla is one of Xerona’s descendants, and knew that one day, she too would be judged. She made it her mission to help others redeem themselves in order to cross over and spread justice and light throughout the world.
Dar’quilyn was raised with the histories of his father, the renowed bladesinger Tarin’thilan Redn’Avir. Nor only his father was a renowed hero fo the kingdom before the elves leave Kyonin several hundred years ago, but he was one of leading the fight against Treerazer and his minions, to the point that he used his enchanted blade to inflict a grievious wound on the demon in the final fight against him. Unfortunately his father died in that fight.
By that time he was already beign raised both as a wizard and as a dancer and musician. His training included a fairly amount of swordplay. He was determined to be one of the best baldesingers that the elven people had ever known. Like his father.
The death of Tarin’thilan only strengthened his resolve to become one of the few bladesinger of the young (for elven standars) recovered nation of Kyonin. His passion made him impatient and too rash and bold for his own good. It was true that he had already mastered all the spells required, and his swordplay and dancing skills were almost flawless, but he still had a lot to learn, patience among other things. But that was the only test he failed, and the day of his graduation as a true bladesinger never seems to come.
The young elf, he is only 135, craves for an opportunity to probe his instructors that he is ready to enter the bladesingers and had left Iadara in search for an adventure to probe himself.
Character Name: Inssol Class & Race: Gnome Fighter Alignement & Background: Soldier Place of Origin: Parts Unknown
Backstory: Inssol has been traveling for as long as he can remember. Well, he's been traveling by himself for a few months. He comes from a lineage of nomads who will travel the world, selling scrolls and potions alike to wanderers and townsfolk alike. Due to their size, figuratively and literally, they strayed from big cities for fear of being robbed. Inssol, though he understood, did not share this fear. Living in a world were just about everything and everyone towers over you has filled his eyes with a sense of wonder. So much so, that Inssol didn't even wait until he was of age to ask his parents to be an adventurer. They were skeptical at first, but with his growing skills as a swordsman, they saw it was plausible for him to live on his own. With the promise to send letters every month, Inssol set to find quests.
Amara was a scout in the guards. Her platoon was ambushed due to a mistake on her part. She was saved by the one she loved sacrifice and she retreated from the world with her guilt laden heart. She now lives in a shack on the outskirts of the woods and hunts. She trades skins and extra meat for the few supplies that she needs to exist in her lonely existence.
Name: Sihnion the Lesser Race: Hill Dwarf Class: Druid Background: Folk Hero
Once in every 3rd generation, a young dwarf is sent away from the Vale to be trained by a master. They take elven names and are schooled in taming the raw elemental magic. Whilst this arrangement does not sit favourably with the current Lord Protector of the Vale, the presence of a wielder of magics is popular with the common folk who look to him as their true protector.
When Daxsys was young, he discovered a mysterious book in his dead father's library. That book awoke a mysterious spirit which opened his mind up to the unknown, and granted him strange and mysterious powers. Daxsys has resolved to use these powers to gather information for the highest bidder, following his family's tradition as messengers.
Background (Noble): The oldest son of a noble family out of Amn, Xandar Temerion was raised to someday succeed his father. Educated by courtiers and military leaders, Xandar soon became well versed in the art of leading people. Be it during civil strife or into military conflict. Form the earliest stages of his life though, Xandar always had the desire to strike out into a life of adventuring before he inherited his family titels. So it was to no ones suprise that once he came of age, the young noble left the sheltered home he grew up in to find his own adventure...
Kas was born to an evil cult. He doesn't know who his parents were. When he was young, he was rescued by an adventuring band who destroyed the cult. Ever since, he has been quiet and reserved. The evil magic he faces from his birth is constantly battling with the true good of his spirit inside him, therefore he is alligned as neutral. The one thing he is sure of though, is his love for adventure.

Name: Siglof the Mendicant
Goblin monk, urchin
Siglof grew up as an Urchin on the streets. Begging and stealing to get by, she caught the attention of several monks of the Sanctum of Jaher, a multispecies order of monks. They took her in and have began training her in philosophy, clarity of mind and ease of movement. Now, it’s time for her to step out into the world and put those lessons into practice, and see where else they’ll take her. (With more detail about the setting, I can fine-tune the background to better suit)
Born into High Society, Ahkota grew up surrounded by important dignitaries and the nobility. The youngest of the Kharne line, Ahkota often abandoned his duties to his family to explore and mingle. He always admired the theater and the carefree existence of the performers. He would often sneak out of his estate and spend the evenings with musicians and artists. He finally felt like free of the responsibilities of his privileged life. On the eve of his 16th birthday, Ahkota fled the night and departed his city and his old life, seeking adventure and fame.
Hello, I am very much interested in this campaign. I am fairly experienced in D&D both as a player and a DM. I am however very new to D&D Beyond. So I hope I am doing this right. IF selected to participate, I have no problem adjusting the character or story as needed to fit your game. I used point buy. I hope that is okay.
Tamoda grew up in a lumber camp. He'd actually been there longer than anyone else, including the current foreman. As he grew larger, the foresters taught him how to wield an axe and chop down trees, for his own safety, of course. And yes, they paid him in food. Tamoda learned how to hunt on his own in order to get enough to eat. It was through skinning his prey that he learned the basics of leather working. The lumber camp manager even paid him coin for the leather aprons and leggings he made for the foresters and woodworkers. He also traded with the dwarven miners nearby. So the night the orcs and goblins came by looking for a fight he stood with the foresters and miners, axe in one hand, hammer in the other.
