This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
While her team members do a terrible job of trying to calm the wolf and perceive its intentions, Naivara looks to the human figure. Is this person alive? Has the wolf attacked them, or is the wolf protecting them? Investigation check: 10
@Everyone: OOC: Swift, as you're keen to study the human more intently, you want to make an Investigation Check rather than perception. You can 'see' everything here, but investigating more closely could yield results.
Animal handling applies here as well, but the dice roll to succeed would likely be higher. For a horse it might be a DC 10 (easy), but to calm a wolf after battle, it would more likely fall between DC 15 (moderate) to DC 20 (hard)... being a wild beast and all.
Once the initial threat of a wolf attack subsides, you are able to study the human body more closely, if still from a wary distance. Most obvious are the wound marks, even from this distance. Where one might expect teeth marks or torn flesh, the cuts are clean, like those of a blade. In fact, there is no visible evidence that this wolf has torn the human asunder. More obvious still (thank goodness for tension reduction), is the dirty red cape that is tightly bunched up under the figure and two short swords lying either side of him.
Obviously entertained by the poor attempts to placate the animal (and the bard's sudden dance as he moved to put Stig between himself and the beast), the wolf lets out a most un-wolf-like chuckle. At the same time that Naivara casts healing, Brandwise releases his boomerang with perfect accuracy, hitting the chuckling creature.
You see signs of recent passing and decide to follow. A variety of different footprints can be seen in the dirt. Not far up ahead, you hear some commotion and some familiar voices. You are getting close, but will likely need to catch your breath once you find the party.
[OOC: Whoa, Whoa Whoa DM - I think my post made it clear that Bwrb was only going to attack if 1. Naivara said attack - she didn't 2. The wolf was running away - it didn't. 3. The wolf attacked - it didn't. 5 HP restored to said wolf plus a bonus 2 HP for the ignominy!]
Hearing the beast chuckle and his antics, Asmodean boldly steps out from behind Stig, hastily straighten his jacket and looking very brave and manelfly announces “I believe I have tamed this beast, there is nothing to be afraid of. It will now follow us into the lair of these dastardly redbrands. Let’s us take the wolf by the ear so to speak and find this entrance”
Angry at being hit, the wolf lunges towards brwbb, but instead of attacking, the wolf morphs into a half-elf, one who has seen a hard fight recently. Exhausted, the half-elf stumbles near Naivara and lays panting on the ground.
Rolling to face the rest of the group, Night Hawk murmurs *Who throws a boomerang? Seriously, someone could get hurt!*
alt version if no damage is taken
With Naivaras soothing elf hands upon her pelt, the wolf quiets and nuzzles into the woman. With an effort, the wolf transforms into a half-elf who is exhausted and badly hurt. You can see she has taken many wounds, and is in a bad way.
Once fully transformed back into her true self, Night Hawk turns to Amodeon and says *I hope your skills at the lute are higher than your courage when faced with a wild beast.*
Naivara touches the half elf now and casts ‘cure wounds’ once again.
(OOC: Elise you can roll 2d8 +3 then subtract 5 then roll 2d8 +3 again. Hopefully that will fully heal you)
knowing she has to be at her best for what lies ahead she moves to a quiet, very guarded spot and hides for a 4 hour meditation (elf equivalent of a long rest).
“Virran is back. Follow him and I will catch up. Bye for now.”
Bwrb rushes up to retrieve his boomerang (assuming cold hearted and semi-literate DM failed to properly interpret his reluctance to unleash the weapon), and stows it in his dilly bag [OMG: I've just realised. I am indigenous. Maybe it was because I was stolen from my family as just a tikker, but now at last I see, it's not a great tan. It's me! Possibly also explains some of my cultural differences from those who don't understand the need to souvenir trophy teeth.]
Astounded at Naivara's amazing insights, he secretly pines (deeply) for the pelt that may (who knows ... the night is young yet) not be his. And those 'sparking, white, pointy, carnivore' canines.
He moves to stand protection for the lady Naivara (despite her social awkwardness) in case this "wolf" [Pfffft] is not all it seems.
[OOC: Ahh!. Claiming asynchronicity here. I did refresh before typing my post]
And now finally perceiving (perceiving's not one of his strengths) the reality of the situation ... Brwb souvenirs all 4 canines (yellowed and vegany as they are) from the dead thing the Wolf-elf has discarded.
As Naivara rests, you reflect on what has been quite the thorough and rough start to an otherwise stunning morning. You anticipate that by the time Naivara finishes her rest, it will be nigh on midday. Swift examines the path in more detail: far from well-worn, it is likely a path used either by a simple few or only at necessary times. As such, it's likely you will not be deserved for the short while - after all, win or lose, the Redbrands would likely head to the Sleeping Giant to celebrate or be dead.
The path continues a little further into the wood where it disappears into the embankment under the manor. You can see a reasonable way in, until the light begins to disappear and it changes direction.
The newest member of the group, Night Hawke, introduces herself and catches up to speed on what the party intends to do. Her dealings with the now-dead Redbrand offers her a good insight into the likes of the greater group.
(OOC: In the words of Brandywise... so much talking! The barely-literate DM decided to tell the narrative with style and humour and collate some many thoughts into one chaotic moment for the books. I will be on my best behaviour from now on... But let's keep the multiple 'checks' in one action to just one - sometimes two checks. Might also be worth asking Night Hawke about the difference between wolf and human forms in regards to hitpoints.
As we all rest waiting for Naivara's own resting to complete, Bwrb is fascinated by the new comer. Perhaps, like Naivara, she will feel an animal attraction to him. Although he does vaguely comprehend that attacking her with his boomerang might not have been the perfect start to a relationship. Still, it did get her attention. And it did show off his weapons prowess. After retrieving his (now "lucky") boomerang, and finally starting his canine collection, Bwrb sits next to Night Hawke and asks her (quietly so as not to disturb Naivara's health and beauty rest) "So. Is you a wolf? Or a half-elf? Or a bit of both?" That's enough words from him, he decides, and waits expectantly for Night Hawkes account.

Naivara perceives something very special about the wolf.
“Do not attack this creature,” She says. She drops to her knees to meet its gaze.
“I hope it will follow us.”
@ Stig / Everyone

Virran keeps pushing towards the forest and starts actively looking for any tracks that would indicate where his party members are
investigation 22
Keenly aware that dangers do lurk in the woods virran also keeps eyes and ears out to catch any dangers that may approach.
Perception 11
Naivara approaches the wolf and lays her hands on it. Noting its pain, she casts “Cure Wounds” to help it.

(Wolf takes 5 hitpoints of damage).

OOC: No!!! He was waiting for my signal...
Naivara is angry and has a temper tantrum.
[OOC: Chagrin - in fairness, Brwb did express some impatience at Naivara's daze-like state - the curse of asynchronicity].
Hearing the commotion virran envisions the worst however as they are speaking and not yelling "death to the vegans" he is optimistic.
Moving cautiously and quitely forward virran moves to catch everyone involved unaware of his presence

total = 19. I should now be back at full health. I shall update my sheet. Do I get bonus health (heehee)
