Naivara moves back and stands beside the entrance to the cave so that she can use her spell to detect certain things coming, alongside her sight into the cave and her keen hearing to detect anything nearby.
Brandy whispers to LSA "Kill the torch. Announces too much". He also gets her attention and indicates with a head jerk that the rest of the party is backing out, and he is following them.
"Stick together in a fight my Da would always say! I wonder if this crew have ever heard that one". Brandy backs out down the tunnel keeping eyes and ears open, and making sure the less protected in their merry band are shielded by he (and Swift, if she follows).
As he manoeuvers back, he also thinks of another of his Da's sayings "Ye'll never win a fight by running away at the first hint of danger". Still the plan may have merit if there is actually something, or someone coming.
Once out, Brandy takes up a position, one side of the entrance. He whispers to Naivara "Hey eleven eyes. Drop low and see if anything is moving against that yellow glow down yonder - other than Swift, that is".
He checks the position of the sun in the sky and mutters, very softly, to himself
"Lordy be and protect me Lady Tymora. Past midday and we're barely out of the village. They'll be a-wantin' another nap soon. Or a sing-along."
He keeps his attention on the entrance and any sounds coming from it.
Stig takes up position on the opposite side of the entrance to Brwb. He readies his hammer and peers into the darkness hoping his dwarven eyesight may afford some warning of what may be coming.
LSA backs away from the corner of the dark tunnel towards the entrance they came in by.. She douses the torch and stores it so it won’t set fire to her gear before turning and hurrying back to the entrance. As she moves she un-shoulders her bow and prepares an arrow in case she needs to defend herself while retreating, though with her back to the turning she won’t see what’s coming. The chill feeling she has from having her back turned on a possible threat speeds her footsteps more as she hurries to join the others as they retreat. In her mind She runs through the mantra she will use to trigger hunters mark if she feels the threat become more tangible.
She hopes to make it back outside and behind the fighters before any threat arrives.
NightHawke is ready for a fight, and is peering into the darkness trying to see what comes. She’s ready to hurl some fire into the tunnel if it looks like that’s a good idea.
Asmodean joins his fearless companions in their fearful exit of the cave mouth, however while exiting the cave he has the burning desire to perform.
”Now is the perfect time for a little music to lift our moods” Asmodean announces as he strides towards one of the trees in plain view of the cave mouth, before unslinging his lute, plucking a few cords as his back slide down the struck.
”I believe this will hold their attention, when they exit the cave. Asmodean the bait” he chuckles “If you all hide well enough and surprise them when they exit, I might not even have to put down by lute” Asmodean gestures towards potential hiding spaces to the side of the cave mouth, above the cave mouth, and in the scrub not far to the cave mouth, and with that Asmodean pulls his cloak’s hood over this eyes and looked to all the world to be totally unaware of his surroundings, and started to play.
Being dimly aware of his companions moving around him, he was supremely confident that they would choose appropriate places to hide, but a little niggle in the back of his mind wondered if they might not all continue their fearless run, right through the Forrest and back to town. For the sake of his own skin, he hoped this would not be the case.
The world takes a breath as you wait, patiently, for something to happen: a noise, movement... even an attack. And while each person prepares for more, the world releases its breath with a woefully disappointing fizzle.
Besides the tiny, lone spider that moves along the wall toward Swift (OOC: you think of spiders, I give you spiders), twenty minutes pass without any further action or excitement. The tunnel remains much as it was before the clanging occurred.
“They aren’t following us out here. We need to push forward. They probably know we are coming, and it will be difficult to fight in the tunnels, for them and for us. We either enter here and move as quickly and quietly through the tunnels as we can, probably heading straight into an ambush, or we head back around to the front of the manor. Either way, it is time to take this head on. I’m going to suggest heading Straight on in. If I maintain the concentration on my spell, I should be able to sense many creatures from 30 feet away, even through walls. We do this without torches and those of us that can see guide the others through the dark. I am happy to lead and send through a spell or an arrow as soon as I have sight. Who is with me?”
Knowing Stiggsy McS will take it well, frustrated Brandy shoves him into the tunnel ahead of himself and they push on, fast, trusting Virran has actually immobilsed the trap he apparently found; or will scurry past us to help. He trusts the faint yellow glow will give him just enough sight, but he hangs onto Stiggsy's belt just in case ... and to make sure there's no slacking off of pace. More than enough time has been wasted since we left the village early this morning.
[OOC: All powerful as he'd like to think he is, I'm sure the DM hasn't the power to let 20gamemins pass without us noticing. But, play on ...]
Forcing himself into battle readiness after the haitus, Brandy mutters to himself ...
"Run away from our own fears only to be trapped with some madman on a lute and a bicycle for ... well it felt like a lifetime. That bard needs to find some more tuneful music."
"You're my eyes now Brother. Tell me when to stand beside you. And where to strike."
Cognac knows Stig is strong enough to stop Cognac's push, if the situation demands. He also figures that if there's an ambush in the tunnel, the sudden appearance of two-headed, four-armed Stig will be something of a surprise!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
" To be honest I was getting tired of waiting anyway. Never fear my alcoholic friend, I have your... er... front."
Stig ventures into the semi darkness with his brauny friend at his back. Carefully walking forward as stealthily as his sturdy (definitely not stumpy) legs will carry him, he peers down the tunnel ahead, looking for signs of any foe or further trip wires, hammer and a quick prayer at the ready.

(OOC: *sigh* Maybe you should be doing the looking Cognac)
(OOC: It'll likely take another 20 minutes as we watch Brandywise trying to hold onto a dwarf’s belt... Is he a giant dwarf or do you have extra long arms? I promise to ignore your awkward movement choices if you overlook the finer intricacies of time. However, the DM is proud to have such scrutiny of his posts... means he is doing extremely well (god-like, even) and has his players concerned for their well-being. Thanks for the positive praise!
Naivara signals the druid and the bard to run in after her. She believes it will be magic, not brute strength that is going to help them get out of the tunnel and into the cellars of the manor and hopes Stig, Night Hawke, Asmodean and she can put on quite the show.
The element of surprise now gone, she knows her spell will work best for them if she stays toward the front of the pack, not the back, and she hopes her team understands that. She hopes Virran will, with his use of night vision, lead Swift through to safety. Maybe it wouldn’t hurt for those two to stealth through, they don’t know how many of us there are, after all?!
NightHawke follows the elf into the tunnel, using her dark vision to see beyond her fellow adventurers. She follows Naivara’s lead and tries to catch up with the dwarf and the human in case there is need of any magical assistance.
While she can see into the tunnel somewhat, she also makes sure she is checking her surroundings as not to be caught up with any tricksy traps.
LSA observes the others re-entering the tunnel and notes their order: stig, bwbrrb (hunched over for some reason, even though there is room in the tunnel for him to stand upright... ), Naivara /trailed by Night hawk and Asmodean, though Asmodean seems to be dawdling as usual. She is not sure where Virran is. She hasn’t seen him for some time....
so LSA follows them into the tunnel, watching behind her, wondering where Virran might be and whether stig / bwbrrb will set off the trap - if it hasn’t already been tripped. Maybe the earlier noise was the sound of the trap engaging.. But... dwarves can see in the dark. The two up front won’t set off the trap... will they?
Her bow is at the ready, arrow knocked and she regularly checks over her shoulder looking for what / who might be coming behind. If Virran enters last, LSA believes she will recognise him by his shape and the stealthy walking traits she has previously observed. She would not like like to stick him with an arrow by accident.
She is also aware that, as she moves further into the tunnel, the light is fading. Soon she will need to light a torch so she can see, unless one of the magically gifted has a light spell they can cast. Lighting a torch would mean she has to put her bow away, as it requires two hands - with one hand occupied by holding a torch the bow could be used to whack something close at hand... a spider maybe... a spider attacking... . She hopes spiders won’t be attacking (and shudders at the thought). Besides whacking something with a bow seems entirely inefficient. She’d probably miss the spider, if it came to that.
A light spell would allow her to keep using her bow by shooting arrows and not as a whacking weapon. That would be advantageous. If she can shoot arrows she can use the hunters mark spell to improve the chances of hitting the target.
60 feet or so into the tunnel, those with dark vision can see the opening at the end. There is a faint impression that it leads into a larger space, approximately 40 feet on again, although it is not yet clear. The glow is more prominent now and you suspect it comes from a series of dim torches in whatever space lies ahead. You are still in dim lighting, however the closer to the tunnel's end, the greater your visibility again becomes.
Your study of the walls offers nothing useful and no other traps are evident.
Unfortunately the galant master bard appears to be close to the back of the group having just been able slip back into the cave ahead of LSA. He felt that this crew had no understanding of how carefully his instruments needed to be handled.
What with Naviara calling for them to go charging into the dark, behind a pair of foolish looking “warrior” and LSA’s impatience while he stowed his Lute.
As he enter the cave though, Asmodean drew is Rapier. He might be towards the back, but he had a feeling it was time to “perform”.

5 feet. 10 feet, 15 feet. 20 feet. He and Stig pause and listen - [But all they hear is the miniscule noises of their party following behind????]
