(OOC: The following event occurs AFTER Night Hawke, but BEFORE Swift - I was awaiting final confirmation from NH before I could determine my final move. @Swift, feel free to make adjustments to accommodate this, as this should have fallen within my turn.
At the same time as Fierce attacks, a figure (from the middle level of the ramp in the NE of the room) darkens the doorway and begins moving down the stairs.
"I heard the noise and came to play. You hoggin' all the fun, brother, or can anyone join in?" A large man, similar in appearance to the one known as Fierce, moves towards Night Hawke, looking even fiercer than his counter-part. He spies the druid standing atop the cistern rim and chuckles as he moves to engage. "Maybe it's time for a swim, lil' fishie." And with that, the Redbrand known as Fiercer attacks Night Hawke.
Attack: 20 Damage: 6
Attack: 20 Damage: 7
True to his name, Fiercer lunges with two highly precise attacks to which the druid is unable to deflect. Night Hawke takes 13 points of piercing damage.
@Night Hawke: make a Dexterity: Acrobatics check. Less than DC15 and you're going for a swim.
(OOC - The Dice Gods apparently favour Redbrands and not Nothics... Go me!)
Swift was only dreaming she had moved into the room as she mentally plotted her actions.. Hearing the commotion with nighthawk and a new party, she rouses from her ruminations, lifts her bow, knocks an arrow and steps into the room. Seeing the party attacking night hawk she adjust her position so night hawk is at less risk from being hit, then she aims and fires at the newcomer.
OOC - is this a surprise attack or would fiercer know swift was there? If its a surprise attack what bonus would that bring? AND am I able to use hunters mark again? I think it uses a spell slot. If it does I can’t use it again. If I can use it again I will...
i await your response to these questions before rolling the dice.
(OOC @ Swift /all - I don't feel he would be surprised by seeing you. He is aware of the fight, so not really likely to be caught off guard. Hunter's Mark is a spell. It is a concentration that lasts up to one hour... it would be borderline still being able to use it, but possible from a time perspective.
@ all - now we are moving, out of turn battling can occur.
Attack is a d20 with a +6 modifier (+2 proficiency and +4 dexterity) The lowest possible score is 7 (with a 1 dice which probably has implications)
Damage is a D8 with +4 modifier. So the lowest possible score is 5.
I hovered my mouse over the 2 for attack and the 2 for damage and it only shows a roll of 2 in both cases. It doesn't appear to have added the modifiers. Perhaps they way I included them in the combat screen was incorrect.
Wnat's the process now? Do the two 2 rolls stand or are they manually modified by the modifiers.... Which would make them:
Attack: 8; which is probably too low a value to actuall hit fiercer
Fierce is taken by surprise and vehemence of the command issued by the cleric, Stig. By sheer force of the command, the Redbrand keels over, well and truly dead. Stig (most likely) grunts in satisfaction, his spells finally hitting their mark!
Surprised in equal parts by being dead (or as good as) and then alive (or as good as) and his assailants being snatched from him before he can properly interrogate their eating habits, BrandySauce leaps to his feet and lunges at the Pumpkin Scone Afficiando who is menacing the elusive Night Hawk.
[OOC: by my reading of the last map there was already a traffic jam in the doorway to the quiche-eater's lair and so BrandySauce was already focused on P.S.A. who must be just 10ish feet away. I am guessing I should get either a side attack bonus or a surprise bonus.]
Rapier Pierce attack (??? Side or surprise bonus??? or is it advantage) Attack: 15 Damage: 7
[OOC: In my circumstance, can I get my second attack in, oh great and wonderous DMFV?]
@ Brandywise - all good from my end. You would use advantage for this side attack (not always the case), but you have already managed to hit on that one. As you are easily within range (even from being prone to start with), I am happy to say you are aggressively swinging two rapiers with vehemence equal to Stig. Let's hope you can hit twice!
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
[OOC: ... yes I saw the prone rules and was wondering - but as DMFV is ahead of us all on prickly matters like ... rules <ugh>, I elected to let him adjudicate. Not actually possessing 2 rapiers, Brandy fumbles out his ... Boomerang ... Wait, no, his other Boomerang. Wait no, his ... handaxe ...]
Even more surprised at his alacrity and the pleasant spurt of vegan blood his rapier has drawn, BrandySauce tosses aside 2 boomerangs as he grabs his handaxe. And with a cry of "For all meat-eaters", he embeds it in the Scone-lover's side.
Handaxe attack with passion, advantage and righteous indignation: 19 Damage: 8
<deleted a 2nd roll. First roll originally said, not available ???. Then came up goodies. >
OOC - in fairness, I think you should just add the modifiers to the values rolled.
The reason they didn't work is I typed in +6 and +4 instead of using the scroll wheels to increment the values. So the modified initial roll should stand:
(OOC: Phew, almost at holidays! Just keep clinging in there!
In swift motion, Brandywise, Swift and Virran converge (in one manner or another) on Fiercer. Focused on Night Hawke, the intense strikes leave him badly wounded and he growls, "Is that all ye got?" as he spits out a mouthful of blood and spit. Still standing, he readies his short swords, holding them in a defensive position.
(OOC: Assuming Asmodean is not playing his move, Naivara and Night Hawke, you are up.
The one known as Fiercer falls to the ground, his body unable to take the additional assault given by Night Hawke. Listening to the surroundings, it appears quiet for the moment and you allow yourselves a small reprieve to lick your wounds.
The party receives 70 points of experience for surviving this battle. Don't forget to update your character sheet.
Stig turns to Naivara and hands her the potion she gave him back in town. "You might want to give this to Brwb or Nighthawk, they look like they need it more than I do right now."
He then turns and starts searching the room he finds himself in, starting with the the bodies lying on the floor.
Searching the room reveals more of the same provisions discovered by Virran. Extra barrels containing salted pork and the such, building the facade that this cellar was, indeed, simply a cellar. Additionally, hanging from the room's bunks are three dirty scarlet cloaks.
The deceased Redbrands offer up more in the ways of worthwhile treasure. Careful inspection yields 16 sp and 7 gp on the first body, with 12 sp and 5 gp on the second. The body of Fierce earns 15 ep and two garnets, worth approximately 10 gp each. Given how this conflict could have gone, the rewards are simple, yet welcome.

As Naivara lunges into the room next to him, Stig reaches out to touch Fierce from behind (bonuses?) "Die" he growls.
Inflict Wounds: 17

Damage: 6 - irrelevant if fiercer didn't get hit.
@ Swift: Just roll again, including modifiers this time.
