The Greenhorn would-be adventurers have decided to make a name for themselves.
Setting out to explore the land, they had first stayed the night at the old Murray homestead. As many others before them, they were unable to release Farmer Murray from his suffering. It was clear that Fey tricksters held the wretch in some sort of limbo. Perhaps his daughter, who wrote the letter they found here, could be found.
Taking to the road to address a real adventure, the two found themselves at the Wierdwood, tracking down the baby snatching Satyrs led by the Notorious Spring Healed Jack. He and his minions were no match! But... What of the children?
The party finds themselves recovering (or raging) from the fight, next to a bloody alter in a ring of Nematons. Only Jack's corpse has been examined, no further investigation has taken place.
In addition to his chain armour and dual hand axes, he seems to have a belt pouch of interest. The only other accessories he carries include a feather and the hat it proclaims itself flamboyantly from.
The party has to wonder if he had stolen the cap from a certain folk hero of great renown they had heard legend of as children, whispered between the poor villagers by candle light.
The clearing, stones and other bodies are still unexplored (sounds wierd exploring dead Satyrs). You can see bloody spots mixed with hoof prints leading to the North, deeper into the woods.
Cummygranny prances through satyr bodies splashing blood about the mossy forest bed as if trampling grapes into wine. "Uhhh... hey." She says with a quizzical look.
Elareia wonders if she is hallucinating, especially after their ghostly encounter last night. She hadn't sensed this strange creature approaching, and glancing back she sees that Khunhoj is still muttering darkly to himself as he sweeps the edges of the clearing to make sure there are no more enemies in the bushes. He obviously hasn't noted the approach of this stealthy teifling either, and is still fighting the swell of the anger that gives him his strength in such moments. Elareia winces and tightens her hands on her quarterstaff as blood splashes and the newcomer seems to dance through the carnage toward her.
"Well met, stranger?" She says, wondering if she is in for a conversation or a fight...
As the Tiefling prances through the clearing, a wet, gurgling, “Bleeeehhh-baaaa” is heard from one of the Satyrs, not quite dead. It seems to be protesting weakly as Cummy nonchalantly tramples its larynx and vital organs with her toes.
The forest is almost completely silent now, as if the wildlife seems to be anxiously awaiting the next move of these strange interlopers. A gentle breeze, high above in the broad leaves of the Maples, does little to mask the cacophony of Khunhoj’s barbaric mumbling and the squelching of Tiefling feet among the mutilated goat corpses.
A steady dripping noise can be heard as the bloody altar softly splashes the loamy soil below it with what appears to be the blood of missing children. The Nematona are speckled with half-dried viscera, and bloody hand-prints decorate the great stones around the inner ring near the altar. This place does not appear to be a meeting place for celestial ritual, no; these great stones seem to hold a darker purpose.
Elareia feels a tingle of a dark energy sizzling around her the closer she stands to the altar. There is something strange about the stones, something she can’t quite put her finger on… the entrance of the Tiefling is a surprise, but this energy is heavy on her mind.
Elareia - Roll for both Perception and Arcana please.
Cummy - Roll for both Perception and Stealth please.
As Kunhoj tramples around the perimeter, the interaction between Elareia and Cummy is beyond his frame of mind. The smell of Satyr blood heavy in the air and the Rage have dulled his senses beyond his blood lust for the enemy at hand, the kidnappers or slayers of children. The tracks in the clearing are not lost on him, however. His survival instincts highly attuned to the Rage of his blood-hatred for the enemy, his hair stands on end and he seeks answers. The light feet of the Tiefling slashing in Satyr filth may go unnoticed by him.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
(OOC - click the little icon that looks like the black "3 side" of a die to the far right on the toolbar above this text field. The you just have to select your die type in the drop down "+X" or "-X" for any modifiers you have on the roll and click OK. I usually type what I'm rolling for, example - Perception - 27. If you roll a natural 1 the roll will be Red, if you roll a Natural 20, it will be Green.
If you hover over the number shown to the left here, a popup should show what I rolled and added as a modifier. This only works on the PC version.
As the group takes a long pause, determining their next actions (maybe Kunhoj isn't quite there yet), the forest begins waking up due to their stillness.
Birds begin tentatively chirping in the trees, and a Raven can be seen hopping in the branches, croaking lowly. It seems to be saying "when are you leaving? I would love to begin feasting on these dead goats!"
A fox takes this opportunity to run from its hiding place near the clearing and quietly make way deeper into the woods.
A majestic Herne begins grazing on the moist tendrils of grassy growth at the edge of the clearing, keeping a wary eye on the travelers.
It just seems that they aren't really much of a threat anymore...
This is a family adventure. If you're not my family, that's awful and I weep for you.
