The group passes the quiet passage and gets to the second passage from which the chanting is coming. Everyone creeps very quietly while Meepo wanders around the room picking up everything he can get his hands on.
The tunnel from here slopes down at a gentle angle into murky water that ends in a portcullis. With the torch out the area is cast into blackness once more, and Kane, grumbling to himself, is led forward by Mordekai, as he keeps a hand on the tieflings shoulder.
At the bottom of the ramp, and in the murky water the hallway opens up in to a large room, but is blocked by a rusty portcullis that fills the passage. As soon as the group turns the corner and peers down the hallway into the water filled room, the chanting stops. You see forty foot square room. The smooth masonry walls provide excellent acoustics. Featureless stone pillars support the ceiling, and a breach in the far wall leads to a dark cave heaped with refuse. Murky water covers most of the floor. Stairs lead up to dry stone ledges that hug the walls. In the middle of the room more stairs rise to form an octagonal dias that also rises above the water. Rusty chains with shackles dangle from the ceiling directly above a stone alter mounted on the dias. The alter is carved with hideous depictions of grasping ghouls and is stained with black dry blood. The silence left by the abrupt lack of monotonous chanting is eerie. No movement or creatures can be seen inside the room. Everything is deathly still and quiet. The gentle "plop" of a drop of water falling and landing on the water covered floor echos around the space, your breathing all heavy to your ears, as is Meepos mutterings as he picks things up and puts them on the magical disc.

After picking up all of the lost things, Meepo will make his way over to the hall with the others.
"Maybe other way..." Meepo suggests. "Rat Go..." He gestures to the hall they passed on their way to this one, the second hall from this room, sending the tressym zombie down it to check for other paths into the chamber on the other side of the blockage.
Rat pads down the passage which twists left and then right, opening up in a dungeon. Alcoves on either side of the hall contain rusted ancient shackles. Rat counts twelve alcoves. In one alcove the skeleton still hangs, twisted rotted tendon keeping it partially hanging, a tattered disintegrating robe also helping to keep it together. Rat notes a small gold ring on one of the skeletons fingers, propped up just inside the cuff of the robe.
Rat also stops, hearing the faint sound of drips of water to one alcove on the left. Padding over to investigate, Rat sees a damp line at the base of the wall, and a crease in the wall that is likely a hidden stone swing door.

Kane looks to the others, or at least in the direction of their breathing. “What now?” He whispers. “Shall we go out surrounded by blood and battle, or have unanswered questions haunting our waking hours?”
"There are no people in this house," says Mordekai, frustrated at what he deems a waste of his time. "The ghosts of the children haunt this house with stories of monsters that do not exist! I do not like this place. I have been played for a fool." Deep down, he sees the irony that he has fallen so easily into the kind of deception that he has loved to make his mark on the world with (albeit a little darker in theme than his usual fayre).
In his impatience and frustration, rather than out of any real expectation or hope of it working, he casts Thaumaturgy in an attempt to fling the portcullis open.
"I am torn." Olin whispers, "On the one hand, this place is a perversion of nature and should not be allowed to exist. On the other, there seems to be no one here to save except the ghosts of long-dead children." Olin thinks a moment, obviously conflicted. "Do we press on, following where we are being lead, to confront whatever evil as at the heart of this? Or do we retreat, and leave this stain upon an already stained land?"

"Rat found way..." Meepo says, waving the others to follow. "Maybe hidey way..." He says in explanation. Leading the group down the passage Rat took, he comes to the place with the hanging skeleton. Moving over directly, he takes the ring from the one still shackled. "No lose..." Meepo tells the skeleton gravely as he puts it with the other stuff on his disk. "Rat find hidey way..." Meepo says again then, nodding to the alcove Rat is standing near. Meepo will look aorund to see if anything else might be lost in this area...
Aga looks to her lance, watching as some of the monsters icker drips from it. She thinks for a moment and then taps her lance twice on the ground, getting the attention of the group. "We press on." She then turns to face them. " There is...evil, in this place. Sick, unyielding evil. What I killed, was but a drop of it. There are other things here. I can feel it." She pauses for a moment, looking down. " I have...so...any questions. The children, this house, this land in general. It is...overwhelming me. Making me angry." She pauses again, looking back up at them, specifically Mordekai. "Even if there is no 'monster', what I killed wasn't our imagination. Horrors plague this place. We promised the children peace. So, how about this: We search every inch of this place, cut down every horror we see, then, we lay their bones to rest. How does that sound?"
"Ring..." Meepo asks as he is about to put it onto the disk. Looking at it more closely, before he glances at the others of the group. "Magic ring?" He says out loud as he holds it up. "Meepo will hold..." He informs the group then as he puts it into his pocket and not onto the disk. "Meepo not sure about things from house..." He explains. "Maybe good ring... Maybe bad ring... Meepo wait till out of house to learn."
“While I cannot claim to share your noble sentiments, my friend,” Kane says, nodding to Aga, “I must have answers. The game has begun, and I will be the last to fold.”
"Yes, you are both right. If I am going to fall victim and be fooled by this house's tricks, I would choose to know its secrets." Mordekai agrees. "I fear there may be many we've already missed."
Do the rest of us see the hidden door, or just Rat/Meepo?

Once done looking around, and having figured the others would see the door now that Rat had pointed it out, Meepo would only then go over to the secret door himself. Glancing at the others he is a bit surprised they have not opened it already. "Meepo do..." he says then with a shrug, checking to see if he can figure out how to open the hidey way. He has Rat give him the help action.
The group pushes the secret door open. The slap of stone turns out to be mortared wood and swings out into the same room you could see through the portcullis. There's a short step from the edge of the door into the water, which laps just against the bottom of the door.

Yeah, was not sure how you were running magic items, the DMG says you can tell they are magical just by handling them.
