Turning to Liliana and Gorarel, Sindrall says "Well I am hungry so let us head to the Inn for food and see if we can find some more companions for this expedition"
Nodding Liliana follows Gorarel and Sindrall to a large building, the open windows letting the smells of cooked meat and the sounds of laughter spill out onto the street. She skips ahead till she reaches the large wooden door. "I'll leave picking out gullible fools to you" Liliana says to her companions before opening the door and heading inside.
Going up to the barkeep she orders a small ale and lowers her head such that her hair hides her face.
As Liliana approaches the bar, she sees a dragonborn, an elf and a half-elf in conversation. "This turns out to be a busy day!"The barkeep takes the order and comes back with a small wooden mug filled with a pale ale. "That will be 8 copper, miss." Seeing Gorarel and Sindrall, he asks: "Can I get you something, too, sirs?"
"The Triboar Red is as close to local as you can get in Phandalin. Food-wise, I can whip a quick bacon, sausage and egg breakfast. For anything fancier, you'll have to wait a couple of hours for our cook to come in."He goes in a side room to make Sindrall's breakfast.
You all hear some shuffling when someone comes in and sits down at another patron's table. You notice them gesturing towards the bar and share quiet laughs.
The barman comes back with Sindrall's breakfast and ale. "That will be 2 silver pieces, thank you."
Liliana
You recognize the man who just walked in. He's the one who passed by with his wife when you were eavesdropping at the town hall.
Handing over the silve,r Sindrall sits down and tucks into his breakfast with a relish only a dwarf could manage. Upon completion Sindrall says to the barkeep "May I compliment you on a hearty feed, Gorarel has mentioned that you have an issue with dragons, so we are here to help, do you know of anyone else who may wish to join us?"
"Thank you, master dwarf!" He seems to only now recognize Gorarel in his rush to deal with the orders. "Ah, Gorarel, these folk have been asking questions about the dragon. They seem willing to help.", he says nodding in the direction of Gramm, Sora and Thilael.
Liliana gives the copper pieces to the barkeep and begins nursing her ale. Frowning slightly at the man from earlier she takes a better look at the man - looking for any weapons or wanted posters on his person.
Perception: 20
Turning her head slightly she takes in Gramm, Sora and Thilael. Scanning them for the condition of their weapons and armor.
You do not see any wanted posters. As the man is walking towards his friend, you see the shape of a dagger at his hip, hidden under his shirt.
As you scan the weapons and armour of those three at the bar, you see:
The barbarian Dragonborn wears no armour but is well stocked for weapons with his Greataxe, two hand axes and 4 javelins
The tall elf isn't wearing any armour either. There's a quarterstaff with runic inscriptions on the bar in front of him, and there's a fine looking rapier at his hip
The female half-elf is wearing chainmail underneath her clothes. She carries a shield marked with an unfamiliar symbol and a glaive. There's also another weapon which you can't name: a 3-foot wooden shaft with a steel blade 16 inches long.
Looking from Gramm to Sora, Thilael joined the conversation: I was planning to go in the mountains to check how things are around there. Everyone seems on the same page, so why not team up, right?
Directing his attention to the newcomers: ...and something tells me we're not the only ones interested in looking into this matter.
Sindrall strides over to the half elf, and extends a hand "Good day to you, I am Sindrall follower of Helm, I will let my companions introduce themselves as we have just met and I do not wish to do them a dis-service. Did I hear correctly that you were heading into the mountains, if so we are also heading that way and the more we have with us, the easier our task becomes.
As you are making introductions, you hear a voice, the man who walked in last: "Hey Toblen! Are you trying to befriend the dragon by sending him these amateurs as food? Good plan, it might keep the dragon away for a while. Too bad most of them are scrawny elves, but he can use the tall one as a toothpick."Both men at the table start laughing and you hear giggles from the other patrons, too.
Gorarel
You recognize Jarin Fenwick, the travelling merchant. You know him to be a good man and are surprised by his attitude.
Turning to the men at the table Sindrall lets out an almighty...laugh "Well you sound like a man who knows how to deal with dragons, here let me buy you a drink and you can impart your knowledge on us "amateurs" so we don't become the dragons next snack"
Turning from the bar and recognising the man: "I thought you'd be grateful for us investigating Jarin. Considering the roads are becoming more dangerous in spite of the dragon. It would be a risky time to be a travelling merchant"
Abruptly cutting his laugh, not looking towards you, the man says: "I take no drink from you. It was all fine until you adventuring types started coming to our town. You bring nothing but trouble. Let Neverwinter or Waterdeep send seasoned men to deal with the dragon and begone from our town. And you, Gorarel, should know better than to work with these ones."
Toblen interjects: "Shut it, Jarin. I'll not have you disturbing my patrons." Lowering his voice, he says: "The dragon snatched his mule and cart right about when a wizard passed through Phandalin. A coincidence if you ask me, but Jarin is convinced the wizard has some blame. That was the closest the dragon came to Phandalin, I'll grant him that. He's been moping ever since."
Turning to Toblen Sindrall in a hushed voice says "Here is a gold piece, use it to ensure Jarin is fed until he gets back onto his feet, we will deal with the dragon and prevent this from occuring to anyone else in the village"
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gripping her mug of ale angrily Liliana stands up from the bar and stalks towards Jarin. "Funny how you went out of your way to follow us all the way from the townhall to the inn. I wonder what for?"She states innocently, circling the man "You're a merchant - what do you care if we succeed or not? If we take down the dragon then that's good for you - the roads will be safer. If we fail then nothing has changed for you."
Sleight of Hand: 25
Stopping right in front of him she looks him dead in the eyes, all playfulness gone from her voice "Then again maybe you are just a sad, angry little man who had something bad happen to him who is lashing out and attacking others make himself feel better. In which case I think that dagger at you hip aught to be confiscated till you can better control you temper and tongue"
Toblen considers it for a bit, then palms the coin, saying: "I'm not sure he'll accept charity... but his wife might see things differently."
As Liliana starts circling Jarin, he stands up uncomfortably, then takes a quick step back when Liliana makes a move for the dagger. "Keep your hands to yourself! I don't have to explain myself to you. You can all go and die hunting for that dragon, for all I care."Red faced, he leaves the inn, his friend getting up to follow, eyes in the ground.

Responding to the barmen Sindrall says "A mug of your local ale, and what food do you have available?"
"The Triboar Red is as close to local as you can get in Phandalin. Food-wise, I can whip a quick bacon, sausage and egg breakfast. For anything fancier, you'll have to wait a couple of hours for our cook to come in." He goes in a side room to make Sindrall's breakfast.

"I'll take an Ale too Tolben" He says whilst placing the copper pieces on the bar.
"Any adventurers passing through you think would be willing to join me in investigating this Dragon business?"
