Hello, heroes! This will be the thread for OOC discussion, as well as various DM lore posts. I’ll try to do them once or twice a day, so you can learn more about the world.
Hey crew! I'm wondering what everyone sees their role as in the group? I'm starting Paladin with ideas to multiclass later on. I could definitely have a focus in different areas, such as tanking, support, damage, etc. so curious to know how others are planning to build?
Hey there. well I am going War Mage so going to be nearly a full caster wizard, but with a decent amount of bashing things capacity as well. Don't expect a lot of area-affect things going on here, since I am going to concentrate on the melee part of this character, but can do some wizardly things when needed.
I'm going to be playing a very socially capable Rogue, so I'll be more than fine dealing single-target damage and helping to avoid the situations where we'd need it. So, definitely still lacking somewhat on generalized support/AoE.
Well now... I was also accepted with a Rogue. Though if allowed I could switch to a warlock to cover ranged attacks. That said it looks like there are still a number of others yet to post including a cleric, sorcerer.
Callum Lamorre will be a traditional priest. He will mainly focus on buffing and healing his friends and comrades. Don't expect him to be that stalwart bastion in heavy armor. For he is neither strong enough, nor pugnacious enough to be a front line combatant. He will be the embodiment of support magic.
Korvin Lamorre is a young and strong Fighter. He's learned quickly on the roads that the one who hits hardest and fastest will often win the day, while he has the resilience to withstand a host of blows, he bares no shield and should not be expected to hold the line alone. His training in youth has convinced him that he has no exceptional talents outside of his abilities with a blade, and has a focused determination to show himself a master of the battlefield.
With a designated healer, pally, fighter, wizard, sorcerer, rogue, and permission to switch classes. I've adjusted mine a changeling hex blade warlock. He will be fluffed as sword magic wielder and like switch between frontline and mage guard.

Hope you are meaning someone other than my character as dedicated wizard, since mine is an up-front fighter not a dedicated wizard...
A better detail of my character is that he is a fighter/wizard that will be up front fighting more often than not. He will be concentrating on single-damage spells with a bit of control thrown in. Mostly he will be just using his sword though.
If we need a more dedicated wizard, and feel we have enough frontline fighters, I can change things up, but not sure how the DM feels about everyone switching at this point. I am 100% fine with the character I submitted but it seems the group is trying for a more optimized group...
The designated was only meant for the the cleric as Ahkota states healing and support as the focus. You mentioned solo blade fighting so didnt lump you in there.
Our group will be fine. There is some merit in making sure you have every box checked, but we also dont know much about what to expect in this game. We have enough characters from versatile classes that we shouldn't have any issue. If we discover a weakness in our team, that just provides us with a fun challenge to work around.
I for one am far more interested in learning who your characters are. What was there childhood like? What haunts there dreams at night? Do they like cream in their morning coffee? These are the things that interest me, and I'm looking forward to learning about them in game.

I agree with this. It’s fine if the party’s good mechanically. Heck, I don’t mind if there are optimized characters. Just know that there are going to be a lot of challenges that mechanical thinking and gameplay alone can’t solve.
On what to expect in the game: A lot of roleplaying and opportunities for characters to shine. It’s been my DMing style for as long as I can remember, and it’s a philosophy I hold to. That’s why I enjoy developing characters’ backstories.
On another note, the first lore post is up. The next one’s going to be better.
My apologies if this was answered in the original recruitment thread, Vento, but will we all be starting in the same place with an already-established reason for working as a party or are we going to be working with one another to figure out how we get to that moment?
Will be working with each other to determine it. I personally like characters having backstory connections to each other. Feel free to do that, just run stuff by me after working it out.

You could switch if you wanted to.
Also, timeline of recent (post-Cataclysm) events in the world is coming tomorrow. Maybe short summaries of each nation if I can dig up those.

Sounds good - I'll go shield and sword paladin, and probably multi-class into a control/tank paladin-sorcerer, assuming we get that far.

Yep save the good stuff for play time 😊
Well said, to say the very least!
Agree with the last posts!
