Hello, and welcome! Even though I haven't had an account on DnD beyond for very long, I've been an admirer of Play-by-Post campaigns for a while and have about 3.5 years in DMing experience, so I figured I could give a PbP
This campaign requires preferably 3-7 players, and the campaign will begin shortly after the right amount of players have agreed to join. To join the campaign, PM me with your character details. I would also really prefer if you could take the time to write a short one-to-two paragraph backstory on the character. Standard array or point buy can be used for character ability scores. All races and classes are accepted. However, different races and classes are important for creating a diverse campaign. I can allow two of the more common races/classes, but most likely will only have one of the rarer races/classes. All content from the Player's Handbook/Basic Rules set of races or classes is acceptable, but if you have a homebrew race or subclass you would like to have in the campaign, I can review it and will definitely consider allowing it. An important thing to note when making your character: the characters will already know each other and will begin the campaign as treasure hunters/bounty hunters, so you may want to include something that is plausible to how they ended up with this group and in the general line of work.
I only ask that you can be able to contribute at least once a day normally, though it is fine if there are days that is not possible.
Now for the actual description of the campaign itself:
Xarynth is approaching their celebration of a record-breaking century of peace. But with the upcoming emperor elections nearing as well, political tensions rise between the East and West sides of the continent. But an even darker evil brews beneath the surface. A powerful cult is on the rise, all in support of some mysterious unnamed figure. The only way they can be stopped is by journeying deep into dangerous uncharted territory--the Abyss of the Demons themselves--and the natives don't call it "the place of no return" for nothing. And unless someone can stop them, they could succeed in unleashing the strongest demon to ever walk the planes.
Just a brief overview, but I hope you will consider joining the campaign. Thank you for taking the time to look over this.
Feel free to PM me if I forgot to put some information into the thread. As I mentioned above, just send me a PM to join.

Peren is a second son of a family established as famous musicians. He took up the training to peak physical fitness that all his family do, and then took it further. He began reading up on Ki. He found himself obsessed. He has to go further, and reach new heights and challenges. He has to go further. So he’s looking for new ways to push himself onward.
For all of you who submitted character applications via PM, thank you. I am no longer accepting any further from now and will be announcing the members of the party, hopefully by the end of today.
Alright, so I received far more submissions than I anticipated. This decision was very hard, as every submission was incredibly good. But I chose the ones that would fit best into the campaign, so I hope there are no hard feelings if your character didn't make the cut. If your character was one of the characters that was not selected, PM me and I can find a way to feature you as a minor character later on in the campaign.
But now, for the characters that will be featured in the campaign. I ended up choosing 8 instead of the previous maximum defined as 7. The character name will be displayed first, followed by the race/class, then the user playing them.
Smoke, Tabaxi Ranger - acoolnamehere Aldin Kurtzman, Variant Human Rogue - Whitehart79 Jorel, Variant Human Monk - Ismenow Jaelyn Oreya, Air Genasi Sorceress - BlueBayou Black Cat, Kenku Rogue - Jonpawl Ash Hazebrook, Human Druid - Papervolcano Nirug Uberchill, Goliath Bloodhunter - Bduds2006 Weylin Shew, Mountain Dwarf Cleric - Llamar
Congrats to the characters that made it! I'm excited to play with you all! The campaign should start today or tomorrow. If I got any character information wrong above, which is possible, please PM me. Also PM me if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks, have a great day!

Maybe it was a mistake. Perhaps not. It's hard to tell, in the heat of the moment. Even harder afterwards.
It's hard to tell how long it's been now. It's been weeks, perhaps months, since the last substantial bounty, a rare dry spell for the group. One might think that a journey from the Lower Western side to the stricter lands of the Bottom East would lead to a far more successful run, but so far nothing big has turned up. A few simple jobs--caught runaways, or stolen second-hand relics--but none of the provinces had enough money, nor were the jobs high profile enough, to land them large profit. The dirt trail accompanying the Fae'nthal River led seemingly endlessly onward, with barely any residential areas in sight. But finally, something was in sight. Exhaustion from the open road has taken a toll on the group, but more so morally than anything else.
But you were given information. Information that a valuable treasure with a sizeable bounty was somewhere in a town not too far away, and you had to take your chances. Needless to say, however, it didn't go exactly according to plan upon your arrivals.
Past the sprawling mountain ranges and harsh deserts of the Upper Western sides, and the pleasant grassy hills and valleys of the Lower West. Beyond the Harbor Cities of Daven'vare, the small Elven town of Dar'nath is nestled within the foothills of Mount Tyranvar. You've never heard of it, save for the small texts you may have read on the maps of the general area. And rightfully so. Nothing makes this small plot of owned land special, save for its conformity to the strict laws of discrimination held in most of the Bottom East. Emperor Elections failed to mend any prejudices held by the populations of the provinces.
And yet, here you are. In a tight-fisted town with two Elven guards that lay unconscious in front of you. It must've been an act of rage. Impulse, triggered by the discriminating terms the guards used when spotting some of the more exotic members of the group.
How to deal with the Elven guards? Where will the treasure be? Who will know this information? Who can you trust? But more importantly, what will you do next?
Weylin walks up to the guards and makes sure they aren't dead or dying. "They're just unconscious. I can't believe they said those things... Attacking guards though, that's risky business."
The tall, lanky frame of Jorel will sag slightly as the second guard falls, he brushes his blonde hair out of his blue eyes, "We probably shouldn't have done that." He'll kneel down and check to make sure they're both alright. "Still breathing, so that's good. Do you suppose they'll hold a grudge? I mean, they did kinda start it. There's no call for that kind of rudeness in a public servant."
Weylin - Both guards are alive, but simply unconscious, so the cantrip does nothing. Also, with that perception check, you look around, being able to view everything clearly, despite the low fog cover that is beginning to settle around the town. No one seems to be watching. In fact, the town appears eerily quiet.
Black Cat - No one notices as you slip your hands into their several uniform pockets. You find a dagger and 5 silver pieces.
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Jorel, seein Black Cat down by the guards, though missing what he was doing, "Black Cat, would you mind helping me? I'd like to get them out of the middle of the road." And he'll move over to take one by the hands, looking around for a guard house or somewhere to put them.
You can see a large barn-like structure not very far away, as well as a rather tall watchtower that doesn't appear to be in use, on the other side of the town.

Nirug stands there huffing and puffing. The fist of his right hand clenched into a slight fist. Some red smeared across it from the blow delivered. A low growl starts to emminate from his chest and he catches himself before it gets to loud. He cast one last look down at the guards while Jorel starts to check him and Black Cat starts rummaging through the pockets. He spits on the ground near the guard and walks away to wait as the others decide the course of action.
