Gimble, there are several other trunks and you start to realize these trunks were most likely used by the crew who slept in these rooms. You realize you're rummaging through the remains of a deceased crew. Clavorus and Muldoon start to aid you in your search to speed things along and altogether you all find the following: mildewed and moth-eaten clothes, a few random trinkets of no value (such as broken pair of glasses, rusty belt buckle, used handkerchiefs, ect), a couple of candles burnt down, a single dusty glove, some letters that turn to brittle once touched, 20 silver coins, and one leather-bound journal.
Walking back toward the door, Gimble handles the journal carefully, "Well, there is not much here and we can review this journal back on The Persistent. Let's see how Muldoon is doing"
Maggie will look around the lower deck. Out of her 4 dancing lights, one is with her, one is with Cyrus, one with Gimble, and one with Gaerich. She will specifically look for information about the “ghosts.”
Gimble will leave the room and check to see where Muldoon went and then move toward one of the other closed doors. "Hey Cyrus, why don't you try this one?"
"Good find, we'll look through it later." Cyrus heads back out and opens the first door to his left, gesturing to the next one down. "You take that one Mags."

((Sorry for the no posting. I was away in Charleston for vacation and then came home to a slight family emergency. Gonna skip ahead a little bit to get things moving))
After much searching of the ghost ship, you all finally come across the Captain's Quarters. Inside you find a wooden desk with an ornate red plush chair behind it and four scrolls rolled up sitting on top of the table. Along the right side of the ship's wall is a small alcove where a soiled unmade bed lies. Besides the bed is a trunk. To the left is another alcove made of up shelves with some old leathered bound books and some small trinkets that presumably the Captain collected throughout his travels. Searching the room Calvorus decides to take the four scrolls to look at later while back on board The Persistent. Gimble and Cyrus search the shelves and Gimble comes across a black mask made of wood that draws his attention and Cyrus finds what seems to be the logbook of the ship. With the help of Gaerich, Maggie opens up the trunk and finds an old wooden flute and two sheets of music of songs she's never seen before. Inside the trunk, Gaerich also finds a pair of worn brown leather gloves.
Finishing the search Muldoon quickly leads the back to the upper deck and back onto The Persistent. The crew swiftly remove the ropes between the two ships and Captain Russel pilots The Persistent back on course. As the ghost ship fades away the green mist wanes and finally the ship, crew, and passengers are breathing fresh sea air. Captain Russel is able to pick up a wind stream that pushes The Persistent at great speed.
((Go ahead and roleplay for one turn and we'll get a move on. Sorry for the slowness of the game, going to moves things further along)).
This post has potentially manipulated dice roll results.
Gaerich tries on the gloves and they appear to fit snuggly on his callused hands. Wearing them in his quarters on board The Persistent he at first doesn't notice anything, except that they warm his hands slightly like any leather glove would do. It's not until the next morning when Gaerich goes to the upper deck with his battle axe and starts to train while wearing the gloves that he starts to notice something. His swings move swiftly and when training against Ronan his strikes are a few seconds ahead of Ronan's maneuvers and he realizes that these gloves him an edge while using weapons* but after training when he took them off to examine them he noticed a tear on the palm near the index finger.**
* +1 to all attack rolls (not damage) while wearing gloves
**gloves are old and can only last ( 22 ) minutes of combat.
Maggie will examine the flute to see if it is dusty/clean/sounds good. She’ll try out the sheets of music on her lute first and on the flute if it’s playable.
Gimble, while sitting in your room onboard The Persistent, you take your time casting detect magic. Through your patience and focus the wooden mask starts rattles on the side table and a purple electrical charge starting at the nose and then, like a bolt of lightning, spread across the face of the mask and an image of an elder shaman wearing the shell of a large sea turtle as a helmet and pieces of smaller sea turtle shells as a necklace. The image of the elder shaman's right-hand reaches for something and disappears and then reappears holding a version of the wooden mask, and the image of the elder shaman places it on his face and his saggy skin thickens (+1 AC to the wearer).
Maggie, you play the flute and it sounds off-tune slightly, but then you give it a solid cleaning and on the second try to flute sounds clear like the sea waters you now sail on. On the upper deck as you start to play Aegis and Ronan start to dance to your music. As you continue to play you notice that they start to dance faster and faster and when you look at their faces they seem surprised by the speed as they shake their legs (+1 to allies Dex who can hear the music for 1 minute). Then you look at the notes and start to play the two sheets of music. One tune sounds creepy as if it was made to be performed during a play or a ritual of some sort. The second tune is a lot looser and gay in its sound and you notice everyone around listening starts to become more cheerful and kind towards one another. Even the Captain and Muldoon seem to be getting along during this song (-1 Intimidation and +2 to Persuasion to anyone who can hear this song for 1 minute).
((Gaerich, I was trying to say that each combat lasts a minute so those gloves will last 14 combat encounters unless a combat encounter goes over 10 turns then it will count as another combat encounter for the gloves. Does that make sense?))
((Understood! So basically they have 14 charges and each charge lasts a minute. Is it something that automatically triggers when they’re worn or something I have to activate?))
Cyrus takes the logbook back to his bunk at the Persistent, smiling to himself at the sounds of music and camaraderie outside. He opens the ghost captain's log.

Gaerich examines the gloves do they appear significant in anyway? Anything special about them?

((just wearing it and wielding an item or weapon triggers it))
For now, Gimble places a string through the eye holes and hangs the mask on her belt. She will then go topside and enjoy the rest of the trip.
((I just created the item in the homebrew and added it to the inventory. It is much easier to do than I thought.))
((Do the tunes have any benefits?))
((Yeah, it's easy & fun!))
