Bronwen hits his last target once more, ending the beast. As the last one rears his head, Belegak silences it before it could howl. The wolf's fur takes a sudden chill, freezing on some ends as it succumbs to the cold. As the last of beasts fall, Henri takes a look about the place.
"Hmm, human made..the wear suggests more than half a century ago...though the wall was destroyed before being abandoned...There should be a council room nearby, I can probably find out more about this place in there."
The mess hall's only entrance that isn't barred is the collapsed wall. Though there are entryways that lead into corridors leading further into the fort. But beside those, the doors leading out have grown moss, covering themselves and their braces.
(You all came in through the collapsed wall, the wall was already down. That's also where the wolves got in.)
"Well, I'm going to look for the council room but if the forts are like regular ones then there should be an upper or lower floor. Unless you all want me to stay with the group..." Outside, you can hear some of the bushes rustling but no wolf in sight.
Folas takes a quick glance back at Bronwen and says "Yeah, probably. Maybe. We nixed the sleeping ones but can't really be sure how many were out roaming. We know there was one, maybe there's more. You guys keep looking for a way in, I'll keep an eye on our back."
"I'd say we better stay together." Nasaar says with a frown. He moves to one of the coridors that leads further into the keep. " Are we ready to head onward?" He asks the group.
Bronwen looks confused, "But why? We were hired to fight wolves, set up camp here for a day or two to wait for any other wolves. Then, the job is done." In all honesty, Bronwen was very curious about the insides of the fort, but didn't want to do the job wrong and that meant waiting for wolves.
Folas chips in with "Guys, she's paying us to protect her from the wolves so she can do whatever it is she needs to do here. Seems to me its up to her whatever she needs to do here. We just need to keep the wolves away from her. I'm not going to split from the group, but we know at least one wolf is out there. We should watch out at least."
"Agreed, we need to watch our backs for that last wolf and yes we are here to ensure Henri's safety. If she is headed inside the fort then we should go with her. Not only to protect her but to also find what this place is about. I have heard many a mercenaries drunken story about dangers and treasures alike in such places." Caram speaks up as he scans the room and joins Nasaar looking through the corrridor.
"And part of the pay for this protection is whatever we can find in the ruins." Nasaar reminds the group. "I cannot protect our employer if I am not with her, so I plan on going with her into the ruins, and, while there, try to find anything of value to share among the group."
(Investigating takes some time just as a heads up.)
The mess hall holds naught much else but spoiled and stale foods along with wooden utensils and plates. Most of the banners were moth eaten or torn, not to mention their colors had already faded, leaving nothing to identify the fort with. Henri wait for the group to do a final check about the hall before moving on.
Down one corridor, after meticulous investigation, it leads to the front fort's entrance. A large double dear, reinforced with bolts and iron lining, along with an iron bar to bar the door. The bar is down and the dust shows no sign of usage in a long while. Opposite of it, is a stairway leading down and besides it is a thinner door than you saw from the others. Henri hops over to it, peering inside before fully opening it.
"Yup, here it is, the council room. Looks like the its still good condition." Inside is a large room with a table that takes the center of it. Upon the table is a worn map, partially eaten but not weather worn like the banners. And there are some books lying about the table, along with dragonchess pieces set onto the map.

Ooc: what happened to the one that was distracted by the meat bug? Should we double back and take care of that one?
(Yea, they still out there. You can deal with them now or later.)
Nasaar moves over to look at the fallen wall, trying to see if he can find a passage through.
Investigation: 22
While Nassar and group are looking for passage, Folas will walk backwards a bit to see if he can spot the distracted wolf to see what it is doing.
Bronwen looks around, "Well that's it now? Isn't it? We found the den and killed the wolves, plus last time I checked, they can't open doors."
