"Ah yes, I forgot that was today. Good to see a team assembled so quickly."
The guard turns to the other and gives a head node behind them.
"Your supplies will be out shortly."
5 minutes later the guard emerges with a thin, two foot long crate. He and the other guard approach.
"Here you are." Opening the lid as they reach you all. "You can either take the crate or just the supplies. That's three healing potions and a beacon orb..." he pauses momentarily before asking, "have any of you all used one of these orbs? They're fairly simple."
He lifts an orange orb out of the hay lined crate. Looking at it closer in his hand you see that it's one orb suspended in another. A thin swirl of orange smoke moves between the layers. He explains,
"You just squeeze it in your hand until you feel the outer layer shatter. It won't hurt, but you will feel some warmth. You then throw the inner orb straight up. The orb will magically leave a trail of orange smoke as it jettisons itself about 100 or so feet in the air and remain there for a mintue. We typically use the to signal for backup or give the signal to begin maneuvers. No matter how you use it, be prepared for the attention to fall squarely on your position."
(So everyone is aware, I will not be very active from tomorrow morning until late afternoon or early evening. I'll try to keep an eye on the thread and respond if possible. My daughter is getting baptized, so I'll be very busy with that.)

Tzeene makes her way out of the building and scampers over to the general store for a few needed supplies. Ad she enters she looks around to see what kind of wares are there. Given their location, it's best to at least check if anything is there.
(Due to the holidays posting is a bit difficult for me. Expexlct things to be slow)
Walking in the general store your nose is assaulted by a pungent tobacco smell originating from a gnome who sits behind the counter, pipe in mouth and thumbing through a book. At first glance Tzeene finds various jerkies and vegetables in terms of food. Most of the items you see are farming related. Without looking up from his book the gnome asks,
Catherine eyes the orb carefully, a little wary of its magic. Good thing she didn't plan on needing to call for help. She takes one of the healing potions--much more useful--and affixes it to her belt, then turns to leave, letting the others decide who will carry what. With their supplies claimed, she feels no need to tarry at the fort.
Sieghart listen to the instructions that the guard gives and takes the beacon orb. The potions would surely be more useful to the members of his group that fight at close range.
He’s not quite sure what to make of his fellow pathfinders. They seem like good people. He would probably get a better chance of getting to know them once they hit the road.
Arlo takes the final health potion and the box of markers. “Thank you, guardsmen. We’re still waiting on the rest of our team to gather themselves, so we aren’t heading out quite yet.”
Arlo finds a corner to lean into til the rest get there
RAW drinking any potion takes an action. Personally I've never agreed with that. Instead I accept feeding yourself a potion costs a bonus action, and feeding someone else a potion costs an action.
As it stands:
- Nox is at the general store. At first glance it looks like she finds food that will keep well while on the road and farming tools, but the clerk is asking if he can help her find anything in particular.
During this time at the fort:
- Catherine grabbed one of the healing potions and I assume will go with the flow of group, but is itching to get out into the wild.
- Sieghart grabbed the beacon orb and has the same feelings as Catherine (I assumed the feelings).
- Happy grabbed the second healing potion and is going to head to the general store where he would end up meeting Nox.
- Arlo grabs the final potion and markers and is going to wait patiently at the fort for the party to be ready.
- What is Helio doing after leaving Margrave Henderson's home?
While waiting for the rest of their companion to meet up with them to begin their assignment, Sieghart sat down on the ground and turned to the people he would be traveling with.
''I don't believe we've all been properly introduced. I'm Sieghart, but you can call me Sieg.''
Catherine's eye twitches when the tiefling introduces himself as "Happy."
"I am Catherine, sixth and ten of my line, third of my name, whose blood traces back to the land of ancient Sul'dal--this land. I have come here to seek my birthright," she states, letting her axe slam into the ground as a punctuation to the announcement. "Those of you who prove yourselves, when the time comes, I may yet--"
She stops mid-sentence, sniffing the air as if suddenly catching a bad scent, then looks around suspiciously.
"--where is the drow? That one seems naught but mischief...."
The teeny drowess looks at her coin and makes a rather appropriately disappointed face "I need some food for the journey. How much coin is it? And uhhh..." she trails off looking around rather distracted. "Do you have anything else fancy?" she asks with a very excited look over her face. She figures she needs enough food for 3 days... and nobody else thought to do the same.
(slow posting as company is over. Merry XMAS everyone! will be busy for the next two days, but i might get a post in!)
"That much food will run you one gold and five silver. Fancy... hmm.. Well, if your lookin for an eye catcher, I have this hat with the plumage of a scarlet hook beak. Since the bird can only be found on this island. That goes for one gold."
The hat is charcoal grey, short brimmed, wrapped around the outside is a maroon ribbon pinned by a silver disk, and behind the disk is one 6 inch, thin, vibrant, scarlet feather pronounced by two shorter black feathers that are more down like. At this point he's put the book down with the pipe sitting on the pages to keep his spot, looks over, and points to a short hat stand at the far end of his clerk desk. He then dips down below the counter and pulls a wooden box out and places it before him.
"If something with flair is what your after, then I have this silver cloak clasp with a lapis lazuli stone. That would run you 18 gold."
He opens the box and you see the clasp has a lapis lazuli stone about the size of the pad of an index finger set on a silver piece that has been design to look like wings of scrolling tendrils. After a few seconds he closes the box and you meet his gaze. You notice that he's looking at you a little more intently now that he realizes a drow is in his shop. It's not an aggressive stare, but an I'm keeping an eye on you look.
(I figured everyone would be busy to some extend over the next few days, so I don't see it as a big deal if the posts come in slow for now.)
Tzeene looks him over. "Well... Ill take the hat, and the food since everyone else didn't buy any.." she then smiles a sly smile. "I think you can do better on the price though, two gold for everything." she leans in with a smile placing her hands flat on the counter. "Cause... I mean you didn't do the work on this hat, you traded it clearly. I intend to give it to another anyways." she smiles again. As part of her insinuation to lower the price she pulls out two gold.

He then proceeds to take one of the Healing Potions and says:
"I'm not as sturdy or well armored as the most of you. So i will take hold of one Potion."
and stores the Potion in his Backpack. He then turns to go to the general store.
General Rules Question. Drinking a Potion in Combat does take an action?

He looked at them individually, expectently.
As Happy is leaving to the store he still hears Siegharts question. He says over the shoulder:
“Pleasure. The name’s Happy.” as he travels on.
Arlo doesn’t get up, but says quietly “Arlo. I’m in private security, usually. What do you do?”

Sieghart watches the tiefling, known as Happy, leave and turns his gaze to the one calling himself Arlo.
"I was a hunter back in the Empire. Came here to help where I could. Private security?, he asks inquisitively. You mean like bodyguard?"
“Sometimes. A lot of things, really. Today it’s pathfinding. Sieghart.” He annunciates each letter of your name, part of a memorization technique.
