The woman beckons the three of you to follow her. She walks casually toward the center of the island --which looks of fair size. The fog isn't as penetrating here, so it's easy to see the limits of the land. It's a good 1000 ft in either direction to a strange looking sea, moving unnaturally. In the middle of the island, where she's leading you toward, are 7 large pillars. Black and liquid metal looking. They rise up into the clouds, their tops disappearing into the overcast sky. The silent lightening storm still rages above.
She stops in the middle area where the 7 pillars' base's are arranged in a circle around where she stands. The two twins sit like dogs on either side of her.
"Welcome, children," she begins. "You may call me Dark Mother". She bows. "I am your guide to this realm. I can answer what question you may have, to the best of my knowing." She looks to the twins. "Meet Dillian and Delahla. They are my children". The twins look up expectantly as the woman fusses their hair on their heads.
Dark Mother looks around the island. Following her gaze, you see some other people there too. An old and tall humanoid in the far north west corner is hunched over a collection of stones on the ground. Beside him, with a wide open doorway, is a run-down shack. He's wearing tattered robes, not too much different than what you're each wearing.
"Jemrosh," says Dark Mother. "He's obsessed with the pillars you see around me". She looks directly east. A temple in ruins sits there. Stairs that lead to nowhere are the only real intact thing present. A man with a large pointed hat sits on the bottom stair. He's looking down at the ground, eyes cut toward the three of you. He's watching you.
Dark Mother speaks. "Yurik-Tol-Ven," she says pointing toward the man on the stairs. "A wizard or sorcerer of some sort. A newly arrived, just like yourselves". She looks back to the three of you. "I would encourage you to meet your new family. You may find it comfortable here for quite some time, yes indeed".

Odysseus caresses the club in his hands, dreaming to use it but he does not, anyway his words are direct and firm but not offensive
"Dark mother is a strange name indeed unless it is a king of nickname... Anyway, we seek help: please explain to us why we are here, what is this island and what it contains and please, most of all, what is thing you mentioned... This machine?!"
She replies. "Ah, the machine. What a wonderfully horrid thing it is. It binds us. Controls us. It holds us here as hostage. Astute as you are, I can imagine the word has rung through your head at least once".
She sighs heavily. "The machine is what binds us to this realm. Forever. There is no escape, except by means of rumors. It keeps us here --locked between death and life. We are fed to the machine when our souls have outlived their usefulness".

"So we are only souls, powering this machine keeping it alive. I see..." Lulu who's still confused sits down rubs his head a little bit. He looks around the room, looking at the two that she mentioned.
"... sigh... so you were saying about "US" here, who are 'us' exactly? how many are we? what are our goals? More importantly, how do you stop the machine...!"
Mor stays quiet, considering all of the information given so far. She keeps glancing at the twins though, confused and a little concerned at the same time but not willing to speak out.
"Us. You and I. You are family now. Bound in service to the machine that rests at the heart of the ancient city". She smiles, ever so slightly, just subtly. "To stop the machine, it is rumored that you must collect the Black Blade and the Sacred Tome. Together, their magic may stop it." She looks behind her, at the unnatural sea. "You must pass the Sea of the Dead and go to the old ruins within if you wish to take this foolish path."

“Yes, there has been many. I had arrived some very long time ago. I can’t remember how long it’s been.”
To the next question, she replies.
“Many stayed and became the Sea of the Dead. Those after that would cross chose to at great peril. I once had a sister. She is here too, in this realm somewhere. We became separated when the Sea gave rise. I have no recollection if any have passed through the Sea. It has locked those of us you see on this island for some time, now .”
To the last question,
“Oh we had, child. We had. The Cowled Seers once sought to end it. I think they discovered some great peril, for they stopped suddenly —or had their souls ripped from their bodies. Either would be possible. They created artifacts of great power that would one day lend a hand to a Great One among us. The blade and the tome”.

"please Teel us what you know about these artifacts and where to find them... And if finding them means crossing the ominous sea... How did the others before us crossed that lovely sea?"
“The first is below and within the Sea. The second is held somewhere within the ancient metropolis”.
She pauses for a moment. Thinking.
“The old one by the little pile of rocks over there”, she says as she points to the one in rags messing with the rocks by the badly run down hut —“he is obsessed with the pillars. He thinks it may have something to do with escaping this island. You would do well to speak with him if this is your desire”.
“Oh, and I can’t remember how others may have crossed. We were trapped here long ago after the metropolis fell and the temple was covered by the Sea”.

The man is actually the remains of what was probably an Orc at one point in his life. His rags are tattered. They barely cover most of his skin. His skin is old and appearing to melt from his body. He has probably been here a while. Green and blue hues dot his face here and there. He has wrinkles across his brow.
At first, he doesn’t respond. He’s engrossed in his little pile of rocks They resemble the same layout as the pillars.
’Hm, hm!?” He mutters. Seeing you finally, he looks up seemingly startled.
To you question, he asks you to repeat it. Upon so, he answers.
“Ah, yes! Yes indeed, the pillars. I believe they are the key to leaving this island across the Sea of the Dead!” He stands up, seems to be shaking a little around the hands. He leans closer, “Aye, but nobody believes me”.

You’re investigating both the rocks and the pillars?
There’s runes on each of the seven pillars. Three are in the shape of a flame enclosed in a pentagram of sorts. Two have wavy lines, flowing naturally along the surface of the pillars, and the last two pillars have a crudely runic fist shape on them.

Good job!
Now, what do you all do?

Player : I have read this and am gonna stay sitted :) (fyi)
Odysseus tries to follow the speech that apparently looks nonsense
"have any other... Soul... Landed on this island before or it us just us here?"
If she replies they have been others
"so how did they leave? Where to? Through these sea of deads? And did they pass? Why didn't you try all these things to stop this machine?"
Of course the questions are not launched all the together but one by one
