Ayer glides to the 40ft ledge and, one by one, helps each of the party members up with their rope. As you all arrive to the ledge, however, you begin to hear a low hissing sound from the holes. The sound grows louder and louder before turning into deafening screeches as five flying snakes shoot out from the holes.

Maelaryn starts at the sight of the snakes, he quickly begins incanting his protection spell while holding a crystal that he had attached to his belt, and as he finished a warm yellow field of energy settled around him forming a formidable Mage Armor.
He then unleashed the whip from his side and let it dangle to the ground where it was ready to strike at the snakes.

As Maelaryn readies themselves for an attack, Ayer glides into the sky and lands a devasting blow to the snake, though it's just not enough to kill it. However, Wulfgar comes through with a follow up and slices it perfectly in half. Alryn and Sercender both take shots at the snake to their left. Alryn's bolt goes wide but Sercdender's arrow hits it right where it hurts.
The snakes screech as their brethren die. They immediately try to retaliate but you all manage to swiftly dodge their attacks.

One Flying Snake has been killed. Four are left. The snake to the left of Sercender and Alryn is heavily injured. The other three snakes have been untouched.
Ayer throws caution to the wind and they rain a flurry of blows down on the snakes. (Starting with the wounded snake and moving on from there once that snake is taken care of.)
After attacking the last snake, he is satisfied with his attack. On instinct he had sheathed his blade again. Turning to the next snake near him and Ayer, he will take another slash.

Sercender attempts to aim at one of the snakes surrounding her companions but her arrow just barely misses it. However, Wulfgar manages to come through again and take it down with another well placed slash. Maelaryn takes down the last of the three surrounding them with a savage lash of his whip.
Alryn attempts to finish off the wounded snake with a powerful blast into its mind, but it somehow manages to shrug it off.
The last snake lets out a panicked screech as they quickly become the last snake flying. Despite being heavily wounded and alone, they continue to fight, lashing out at Sercender with a powerful bite and piercing her flesh.

Wulfgar, having sheathed his blade will pull out his short bow. Knocking his arrow he draws the string back and lines up his shot. He exhaled to steady himself and the releases it.
With steady aim, Wulfgar manages to finish off the last snake. With combat over, you hear a voice from above. "Hello there adventurers! I couldn't help but hear your fight with the flying snakes. Absolutely smashing work, I must say. Please, come on up! I'm sure you would like a little bit of a rest after such a battle. I have plenty of rabbit stew to share with you all."
As you look up to see who is speaking, you see the face of a smiling blue scaled dragonborn leaning over the edge 35ft above. "You all seem capable of getting up here yourselves. I'll be waiting." He winks at you all before disappearing behind the ledge.
With a rope to climb Wulfgar whispers a silent prayer of relief. To be honest he was already feel a little sore from the climb already. The addition of the rope should make the go much easier. Calling up to Ayer he says, "Bless you friend " and begins to climb.
Maelaryn holstered his whip back to his side and, using the rope dropped by Ayer, continued to scale the cliff. He wondered what this Dragonborn would have to say for themselves, or if they would simply be rewarded the tiles and then have to scale back down to move on to the next task.
Alryn does his best to catch up to the others, he puts his holy symbol back on a clasp on his belt and begins to climb. "Awfully snakey up here, isn't it?" he calls to the others.
