"I saw you moving through the city, cutting down assailants, making a swath to the keep. You aren't even from the area. I've never seen any of you before and yet you took it upon yourselves to protect innocent strangers and get them to safety. Bravery. Generosity. Strength. You uphold the kind of traits that we need right now, and you seem to have fallen into our laps at just the right time. I was talking with some of my best men about getting a team together to sneak out into town and check for more citizens, maybe harass the cultists while you're out there. Not everyone made it in before we had to close the gates." He stops and turns to look at all of you, a grin on his face. "What do you say? Are you willing to help fight off the cult?"

"Why am I here? Why am I here?... Why... Am... I... Here?" Delirious seems to trail off for a moment in thought. "Was it Murder? No, I already did that today... Am I looking for someone? No, I don't know anyone... DRAGONS! I'm here for dragons!"
To Lyria I'm here for balence, answers if they're here, but men fighting over toys or land because they missed naptime doesnt concern me too much in that aspect what's happening here is happening thousands of other places... however the dragon seems odd it seems.... one sided
To the govenor What can you tell us about the cultists obviously we dont need to much information to punch them in the face but to truly protect this place we need everything,
You continue climbing the stairs while conversing with Governor Nighthill. "To the point, I like that. We have some intel and speculations, but nothing concrete. What we do know is that the raiders belong to the Cult of the Dragon. They aren't outright slaughtering us for the most part, reports from those that made it to the keep so far reveal that they seem to be mostly interested in valuables and money. It is less likely that they provoked the dragon, and more likely that the dragon itself is the leader in this assault, trying to gather more for its personal hoard, but we're only making guesses. It is a bold attack to be sure.
At this point, you breach the top of the stairs and are able to peer out over the entire town. There are more fires in the short time it took you to reach the top, and the raiders have isolated the keep from the town with encircling groups of guards, but they haven’t organized an attack yet. Nighthill speaks again, "I don't think the raiders intend to attack the keep; they seem interested only in loot. The real danger is to the town and to those people who didn’t make it into the keep before it was cut off. I want you to slip back into the town and help people who are cut off to make it inside safely. I think a stealthy group can make it out of the keep and back in again without drawing the raiders’ attention."
"Sir, if that's your intent, I suggest they use the old tunnel. It hasn't been used in years but it'll get them past the majority of the ones around the keep, to the stream bed."
"Good thinking, Escobert. Lead them to the tunnel, after they get a good look at the layout of town. I think that a lot of the civilians that didn't head to the keep probably went to the Temple of Chauntea." He points to the SE area marked #3 on the map below. "It's a strong building, stone construction, heavy doors, can hold a lot of people. The raiders have just recently taken interest in it. I implore you, once you get out through the tunnel to head there first and check for survivors, but be careful. The more time that goes by, the more concentrated their efforts as they clear buildings and gather. By the time you get to the temple, there may be too many to take on. I suggest using your judgment on what you can handle and come up with a good way to get anyone in there to safety. On a side note, if you're able to bring back a cultist, I would love to interrogate one and gain more intel as to why they're here." As he says the last bit, a sly smile crosses his lips.
You notice the wall goes all the way around the back of the temple and raiders are entering into the front side and amassing at the front door but do not seem to have made entry yet.

Answering Lyria, "Hordkhen, most call me 'Tar' ", he extends the end of a finger to shake while scrubbing his teeth with a leather scrap- and staring at a blue robed figure approaching... "...was on the way back home after a contract to protect a trade carrack bound for Cormyr. Headed inland to Iriabor to see about making a trade deal for the Clan to get our goods to the Sword coast-"
The Governor walks up, introduces himself, and Hordkhen starts to follow and continue his explanation to Lyria for the benefit of Governor Nighthill, "These same cultists got the drop on me pretty bad a few weeks back- then I ran into Kod here; He gave me news that these same robes hit a caravan of our people back East. Just like here..."
I will be part of the team to go to the temple and while I hope we can help I implore anyone else that travels to take the governor's advice we must assess properly on whether the forces are too great to engage. And in light of Hordkhen's information that is to far a scape to be simply amassing treasure even for the greediest of dragons....they are either searching for something specific or amassing quickly for a goal or purchase. I think we should try and get a cultist

"Yes, we have been hearing rumors of growing raider activity. Caravans, traveling merchants, that's commonplace and the reason for hired guards, but a cultist force the size of which to make a full-scale raid on Greenest is unheard of. Glad you're all on board. But please, time is short for the folks in the chapel, I'm afraid. Escobert is the master of the keep and will show you to the tunnel. I'll watch your progress from here, at least when the dragon is above the clouds. The next hit might be the death of me."
"Aye, Sir. This way, please." Escobert heads back down the stairs and wades through the crowded main room of the keep, jingling all the way. He unhooks the ring from his belt and without looking picks one key from the abundant amount of them that easily clicks into the lock of a door at the end of a small hallway. Beyond the door is a flight of stairs leading down to the cellar. "We haven't ever used the tunnel, actually, it was designed with this exact purpose in mind though: To get in and out to gather water or supplies if we ever came under attack." You sense an odd excitement from the dwarf as he speaks about the keep. He is obviously passionate about it and even in an active crisis seems ready to give you a tour. Once you're all in the cellar he jingles over to a corner with barrels and crates stacked up high. "Wouldn't be a secret tunnel if it was out in the open, would it? Help me move these out of the way."
(Pausing for a minute to allow some RP or questions for Nighthill or Escobert, we can retro whatever and move forward whenever you're ready.)
