"And just what do you expect a group like ours will do to change things." Nasaar finally speaks up, gaging the Old Bear's words for himself. "You say we are not strong enough, but how do you expect us to get strong enough?" He nods to the two minotaurs. "I do not believe you need to look further than those to for strength enough to go around."
A grin plays across his lips as the idea of a hunt is broached.
"We haven't hunted together in an age, Calf. Let's go."
Standing and freeing his sword from its earthen sheathe, he returns it again to his back before knocking a bolt into his crossbow and heading perpendicular to the others to provide a flank.

As the group goes about either eating or thinking of getting some meat, Old Bear starts his explanation.
"So yes, to see if you have what it takes, I have a simpler first mission for you. A test, a trial, if you will. If you really have the potential, you will come back from this only stronger. Though make no mistake, if you don't use both brains and brawn, you can die you all the same."
He pulls out a map of the area.
"You are here, near the edge of the forest. Around 2 days march towards the northwest, deeper into the forest is a cluster of goblin settlements. Though "settlements" might be an overstatement. Between the few collections of chacks, shanties and drafty tents, there is only a couple of hundred goblins, and far from making raids, they are barely able to fend off simple wildlife. I doublt any of them are as well equipped as our friend here." he points at Gathrik.
"So here is your task:
First, you will make sure the local settlements are safe. I can't have them die out on me.
Second, you will make it so that the goblin settlements can grow, rather than just survive
Third, once the first two tasks are complete, you will give the local chiefs this", Old Bear gives puts a small sack on the table, around 1 cubic foot in size, "and help them do what they wish with it.
Once this is done, you can come back here for your reward."
“So, you want us to clear the arena around the settlement and give ‘em the sack? Sure thing.”, Guthrie said returning to the table and finishing his portion of berries.

"It may take more than just stabbing things to get the second part of the task done," Old Bear replies, "though I am sure you can resolve it".
"So, you would like us to clear the outlying areas of threats and then what? Teach them to farm? Milk co...goats?" He noticeably stops himself and changes his words with a quick glance to the minotaurs.
"I dare say this will be quite a task but I think we can do it." He crosses his giant arms and looks to the others.

Yarvem will move towards the deer as he readies his Ykwla, carefully angling the weapon since it clearly seems to not be the best throwing weapon. Once close enough he will carefully so. And toss the weapon.

“A very human answer, but i am in. You strike me as someone who knows plants, so as part of my compansation i want three bags full of seeds, fire grass, Gnome‘s Hatstand and goodberries. It doesn‘t matter how old the seeds are. They will still be usefull to me even if they are dead and invertile.“ Gara replies.
"Do you have any details of what is causing the goblins troubles?" Nasaar asks as he eyes the sack. "I've no doubt we can handle whatever it is, but it would be nice to have some more details before we head into an area we know nothing more about than that goblins live there and are not doing so well on their own..."

"You will need to ask the locals to work out what exactly is the problem. I know this area of the forest is wild, and the goblins were displaced the by the wars there, and were never able to tame it. However in the past few years, it seems even survival became difficult as the fund themselves near the bottom of the food chain."
"Well, they are goblins, they are the bottom of the food chain," Serit looks to Gathrik with an unsympathetic shrug, "sorry. I will do what I can for them."
He stands straighter and addresses the group, "I am Serit, let us take our next meal and be off. I have heard all I need to."
"If any of you want to share the meat from this deer then help clean it. Otherwise I shall simply keep it for myself." Yarvem says as he carefully removes his ykwla from the carcase. He will set about cleaning the meat from the deer so that it can be preserved for later use.

Gathrik caught Yarvem’s gaze and nodded, now clutching his blade in his hand, “Never say no to a little hunt, eh?”

Serit stands, "Yes, a hunt. Catch some good meat." While he stood, he actually never left the table. He watches the minotaurs and goblin expectantly.

„What is in the bag?“ Gara asks blunt.
"A token for the village. It has no value to others, and it has no value until you complete the first two tasks."

You hit the deer head on, and it collapses. The other deer in the herd bolt towards the edge of the clearing.
