Albanus is a bit taken aback by the fact that Winter and Tom are acquainted, though it shouldn’t come as a huge surprise - Riverton is no metropolis. “Yes, that might be a splendid idea Winter. Do you know Tom and his brother well?” Quieter, Albanus adds, “Winter, you know what these women can do right? They can magic someone in order to make them do things. Little one, please do us a favor: don’t trust anyone. And if you’re not sure of someone, give them a kick or a pinch or a slap. I know it sounds silly but...”.
Albanus trails off as he spies the gnomes. He will head to the blacksmith’s shop and ask the gnomes if they know of any recent commissions that they or their gnome friends have received from the comely lass at the inn. Machines or contraptions - things like that.
(The gnomes take a little bit to warm up to you, but do offer a bit of help. They inform you that none of them have worked on anything like that, but theres a good chance Ibb, one of the elders, would likely know if their builders had been commisoned for anything.)
Vulgrom joins Alabanus, keen to so how far the abomination's influence goes... But also, a selfish part of him to see if the smithy here has anyone blessed in Moradin's eye.
(Looking around you do see a banner flying high above the blacksmiths shop, proudly baring the symbol of the All Father.)
Manfred will join Dain at the inn, knowing that the people drinking at the tavern would be the best source of scuttlebutt about the goings-on in Riverton. As they are approaching the inn, Winter behind them, Manfred will whisper to Dain "Best not to let me see where you place the child. I know that our fellows, especially Albanus and Ashtear, have taken an interest in her. Those creatures can and will exploit that. I just wish Ashtear had made more of that supposed antidote. It would make me feel a bit less anxious to know I'm not likely to turn against you lot in the next two hours."
Manfred then assumes a charming, cheery bluster and starts buying drinks for the locals, slipping in references to his own noble family in hopes of uncovering information about the Baronness."
(Based on the fact you gave such a good performance your first night here, many are actually quite liberal with information. They tell you after the old baron died apparently his neice whom was traveling around Ethrahal came to take up the family name. Several months ago however the king of this region, Leopold, fell ill. Until a time comes that he can return to his duties, the baroness was the acting regent. Thus far she had seemed to be a decent ruler, if something of a recluse, having not actually made a publiv appearence as of yet. Beyond that they dont have much to offer for information about her they tell you.)
Winter gives a confident nod to Albanus and enters the inn with the others, wasting no time in finding Tom and getting herself some juice and begins telling him about the happenings at her home, as well as the fight in the cemetary she was witness to.
Dain heads to the tavern to check in with the owner there. "Our friend from da guild had something sent here, do ye happen to know what that was or where it is now?"

What did Dain find out?
Tom pauses fot a moment, seemingly deep in thought about something, before he shakes his head and replies Well, you see, im not really supposed to be giving out personal information about customers, but seeing as how youre from the guild and all. I can tell you it isnt where its supposed to be! Had it hid out back, come in this morning and it was gone! What it was I couldnt tell you, dont know nothin about that magic stuff my friend.

“I see,” Albanus nods. “Most gracious of you. Where can I find this most-respected Ibb?” Albanus thinks a moment before adding, “By the way, we are looking for our fellow guild member, Johan. He was looking into some strange happenings with the baroness and the inn girl...” Albanus shakes his head in a don’t even ask kind of way before saying, “Have you seen him around, by any chance?”
Manfred will look at Survivor significantly at the news that the Baron had died recently, King Leopold had fallen ill and the Baroness had not yet made a public appearance. He touches the side of his nose and then is about to speak to the Goliath when he sees Winter telling Tom about their adventures.
Clenching his jaw tightly, he walks over to Winter and Tom, toussling her hair and says to Tom. "Haha, yes! What a wonderful story, child. You've taken the lessons I told you to heart." Winking at Tom he says "She's got the makings of a fine bard one day."
He then fills Dain in on his findings about the Baronness. "I can probably get into see her by playing on my...family connections at the Keep. But if she is at the root of this, we may trigger a confrontation before we have fully investigated the rest of the town. How did you make out with Johan? Does the innkeeper have the pages?"
Survivor will mutter quietly to his two new friends, “If there is to be a confrontation with someone like this baroness, I’d rather it wasn’t on her ground with one of our compromised.”
Dain describes the magic item they found in the shed, seeing if that fits the item that was hid out back.
(Tom confirms that what it looks like, before engaging with Manfred.)
Albanus, engaging with the gnomes, they give you a sort of puzzled look before looking at each other begore shrugging and responding the have not.
(Despite that being a Nat 1) Tom seems distracted with something else and doesnt pay much mind to what youre saying, more focused on the tales being told by Winter, as well as Dain, but absent mindedly he responds Right, I'm sure. Rather interesting I should say. Be a good idea we report these happenings to the magistrate then I think. Let me see if I can find someone to watch the bar while I take you over there.
Albanus, engaging with, they give you a sort of puzzled look before looking at each other begore shrugging and responding the have not.
“Not to worry,” Albanus says. “Its been a long day. We would Still like to speak with the elder, Ibb you say? Time is somewhat of the essence, as they say.”
Given how unbelievable his lie was even to him, Manfred is surprised at Tom's apparently placid reaction. "I think perhaps you've done enough, Tom. We can take her to the magistrate's office. We are headed the way ourselves. Come, dear," he says to Winter, looking meaningfully at Dain and Survivor.
"Based on his reaction, I'd say we have our answer if the magistrate is in league with these creatures. I'd bet my flute that Tom's following the orders of one of those creatures. If the girl goes into the magistrate's office alone or with Tom, I doubt we'll see her again." He whispers. "I think we should find Ashtear and that antidote quickly."
"No need to bother yourself." Dain says to the barkeep. he nods to the others and turns to leave with the girl in tow. "We'll be taken care of da girl no problem."

Tom nods, beginning to stand up before sitting back down on his chair. Well thatd be nice of you, save me from making a trip to see the grumpy ol bastard. You go ahead there Winter, tell me all about it when you get back.
Winter follows behind you all, somewhat perplexed as to why you had to go so soon, and also noticing the whispering Manfred is doing. Is this cause of the thing Mr. Albanus said? About not trusting anyone?
“Not to worry,” Albanus says. “Its been a long day. We would Still like to speak with the elder, Ibb you say? Time is somewhat of the essence, as they say.”
One of the gnomes, a cheery eyed man with a long red beard tells you well if its important, you can probably find him up in the keep. Usually hes working, but you might catch him as hes getting done for the day. Doesnt have anything to do with her majesty the ghost does it? He adds with chuckle.

"Hahaha, oh are a funny one!" Albanus chuckles with the gnome. "Ghost? Hoho, why would you call her that?" Albanus leans in and whispers conspiratorially, "I won't tell, promise!" and gives the gnome a playful elbow.

The Gnome leans in as well, clearly jesting with you, but some validity to what hes saying. Well, dont think anyone sides the magistrate has even seen her yet. My bet? Shes gotta be gorgeous or somethin and is worried about all the proposals she'll get. Like I said, my guess at least.
Manfred nods coolly. "Yes, I think we need to regroup. We may have time for only one more thing before our appointment with Janice and her sister. At the very least, I think we need to reach out to Johan again and get more information on the missing pages from your book, wizard. And, if we're going to confront the magistrate, it would be useful to have the antidote, once we're sure he's being controlled by those creatures."
He thinks briefly of the blond woman and a faint smile creeps across the corners of his lips, but he regains his serious countenance and heads to the tavern door.

“Aye, aye. A problem I personally never have had....but wouldn’t mind having!” Albanus replies. “Maybe we’ll pay a visit - I want to see what all the fuss is about. What is the magistrate’s and baroness’ name, you know, in case either one fancies a handsome devil like me?” Albanus grins. (if anyone has anything else to ask, maybe do it now as we are conscious of time).
Ashtear nods to Albanus and bids the Smithy workers good day. "Well, I guess we should meet up with the others, and head out perhaps. Or at least share our information."
The Gnome leans back against the wall a half smile on his face, I'm not sure she's taking visitors, but then again I've never tried myself. Oh and it's Ebony I believe. And the magistrate is Orlan. Nice talking with you. Till next time then.
Winter keeps to herself as you all regroup and discuss some of the information. The suns beginning to just hit the hills far off to the west, so theres still some time left before your deadline of sundown. The magistrates office is not far from Janices residence, and as you get closer to it, you'll be getting closer to them as well. Theres a few guards standing watch in front of thr magistrates office, so its pretty easy to assume which one it is. Also the keep has its set of guards as well.
(Manfred only)
You hear the blonde woman telepathically. Hello again there handsome. This time, lets just keep our little chats between us. Those others dont need to know what you and I have. Right? But anyway, the half elf has the journal, am i correct? What's the best way for me to get it do you think? Youre rather clever. (you can respond telepathically as well)
((Sorry for it taking me a little longer than usual getting this one done.))
